      Hi, did you ever end up doing pool designs with this app?

    • @TheEmbodiedGodess
      @TheEmbodiedGodess 3 года назад +1

      @@tylermacarthur1423 I have been playing around with rough sketches but as for producing professional quality work, I have not. I found the Morpholio app and enjoy that more for scalable work. I still use Structure Studios for my rendering. It is hands down the best for my work but procreate feeds the artist in me when I need.

    This is how i do my detail, layer over existing details and construct it like a puzzle, very good tutorials thank you

    • @iPadForArchitects
      @iPadForArchitects  3 года назад +1

      You're very welcome. Do you mean you develop your designs the same way--partially tracing over images--or do you refer specifically to what I used to call "details" as in window headers and jambs, etc?

    • @emilrozkoszny3935
      @emilrozkoszny3935 3 года назад +1

      Yes, technical construction drawings. I start off with existing detail I have downloaded off the internet and trace over them only drawing the parts I require, layering as I go. I’m fairly new to iPad Pro and procreate but has started doing the same with my renders and perspectives as you depicted in this video. Such a powerful tool.

      Thanks! It seems many of us architects are wondering how to use Procreate to design. May I ask how you are using Procreate (and how you found my channel?)

  • @XtianApi
    @XtianApi 2 года назад

    I love procreate, but I also love concepts. And for this use case, concepts is a wonderful ipad tool that has measurements, snap to grid, etc. Made for this. Thoughts?

    • @iPadForArchitects
      @iPadForArchitects  2 года назад

      I hear you on this. I really like that feature of Concepts--and that is the advantage of a vector-based program compared to a pixel-based--but -*-personally-*---and I want to stress it's personal-- I find Concepts less intuitive. So for me it's similar to that old adage about cameras: "The best camera is the on you have with you the moment you need it!" Translation: the best design app for me is the one that is most intuitive and therefore I am most likely to use at a moment's notice. So in your personal design process, do you use Concepts for your very loose sketching prior to switching over into a dimensional mode of thinking?

    • @XtianApi
      @XtianApi 2 года назад

      @@iPadForArchitects I actually completely agree. I find concepts less intuitive to use. I find myself using it when I have to do something like for someone, and often when I need something quick and clean. But if I have the time I do use procreate. I find pen and copic markers are a wonderful tool as well for loose creative thinking. Having an undo button can hurt my process sometimes.
      That reminds me, I love concepts copic pallette. I have recreated it most copic colors in procreate, but it's clunky.
      Thank you for the reply!
      I guess the morale of the story is, procreate: 'add some snap to grid and line joining architect tools, and bigger pallettes and you will dominate the iPad space.'

      @@XtianApi Oh, that is an EXCELLENT idea! Snap to this and snap to that when drafting lines. Very good thinking )

    I am an Architect in Austria and I love your sketches! Your workflow is efficient and changes are easly done so I want to do switch from CAD drawing to do much more hand sketches. Do you have a video or recommendation which Ipad pro is best for procreate and the other software you use how much Ram or GB I need for perfect Performance?

    • @iPadForArchitects
      @iPadForArchitects  2 года назад +1

      Thank you for reaching out. The easy answer is get the biggest and strongest. 12.9” with 500 gb. If that’s beyond budget go for the same specs but in a refurbished model. I’m a big believer in refurbs. And then if that’s too much just keep going for the biggest you can afford. You’ll thank me later haha.

    Why don’t you use concept or morpholio trace....?

    • @iPadForArchitects
      @iPadForArchitects  3 года назад +1

      Tell me more about them, please? I came to Procreate first--when the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil first came out in 2015 because as a professional renderer who is also an architect, I needed Procreate's digital painting features. Morpholio "Trace" did not come out until 2016 (www.designraid.net/774/morpholio-launched-trace-pro-for-ipad-pro-pencil/) and at first it was a clumsier interface so I held off on using it. I would like to try it now, but when I check it out it still seems like a less fluid interface, and less intuitive having to use the triangles and rulers to draw a straight line, etc. Have you had a good experience with it? Look forward to your reply, or send me a private email at address on my website and I'd love to hear more about your positive experiences

    Procreate needs the ability to scale

    • @iPadForArchitects
      @iPadForArchitects  3 года назад +1

      That would be good. I love how Morpholio Trace allows you to do just that, but it lacks many of the powerful rendering features for which I use Procreate. I tried to solve the scale problem by making my own grids and scales, if you're intersted? Link below.
