Big Daddy Kane has weighed in on the recent feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, admitting he didn’t particularly “enjoy” the contest.
In an interview with The Art of Dialogue, the Juice Crew legend - who himself is no stranger to rap beef - explained why he “lost interest” in what has been deemed by many as the greatest rap battle ever.

Kane has a strong point on that one. The fanbases almost killed it for me, too. The heavy biases on both sides made me want to stop engaging with either one.

Thank you, I’ve been saying that. I’m a Kendrick fan and think Drake is corny or at least thought he was before this beef cause he’s earned my respect now. I was I’m surprised and have to be honest in that Drake out rapped Kendrick and if anybody disagrees the only thing they can’t say is that it was a landslide wine for either. It’s just that people went into this beef with a winner they wanted

After Not Like Us, it should be over, it's such a genius track, the candence, the beat, the wordplay, if that ain't rap in it's purist form idk what is. I agree with Kane. Even though im on Kendrick side the fan bases made it annoying. Because its like ok who is just better when you have people like Gillie calling Euphoria corny when he probably didn't even listen to the song was nuts. Then on Kendrick side you had people discrediting Drake songs like they was garbage made no sense to me as well. But Quest need to sit down somewhere say what you want about this battle but they definitely showed people what Hip-Hop is and had probably the best Hip-Hop battle ever. It may have been messy but they both was giving each other completed songs and going bar for bar and they was doing it in days not months. In Kendrick case he responded within hours.or even minutes with Meet the Grams. So salute to them both.

That's why Euphoria was one of the better disses dropped, Cause it was filled with actual BARS, Like it was a crazy good diss track, But people kept saying oh he's taking it easy, This just a warning, The big one coming up, But honestly dude could have let Euphoria be his big one and lyrically there'd be no debate who won, But after Pusha T, People keep acting like a good diss gotta have some big TMZ level bombshell in order to qualify which is so stupid, And eventually thats what the whole beef became. Don't get it twisted, The tracks that came out of it were dope, But all the fact checking and investigating fans were doing made it feel less like a rap beef and more like some TV drama which got mad redundant.

The issue is that this is now a PERSONAL beef. It's not a rap beef. The fans didn't kill anything. Drake killed the vibe when he started bringing up family stuff when the corny stuff he was saying wasn't working. I guess he thought Kendrick wasn't going to do his research. Drake also played dirty, disseminating lies and misinterpreting people's lyrics. Then he lies about feeding information because he's running scared about all the proof that's coming out against him. Drake killed this beef when he hit below the belt with lies. He's involved in some terrible things and was dumb enough to engage in a beef and got mollywhopped. That's on him; not the fans.

Everyone mad that he didn't bring proof, like half the internet isn't digging through everything on his behalf. Like DJ Alademiks didn't go down defending Drake and then turn up with a r*ape case himself, only to ask Drake and Diddy for protection, to finish it with "if I go down, I'm taking everyone with me. I keep no ones secrets." If any celeb is scared of this beef, it's because they're sitting a little too close to the wrong side of it.

I respect BDK. I’m just not sure how fan bases can “make” you lose interest though in the music. You should expect Fans to champion their favorite artists. It happened to me with Eminem back in day. I like Em but his fans were so annoying to the point I started to not like him. Im glad someone had a different view about this than just picking a side. I love a good beef because it makes for good music. To this day what still attracts me to hip hop is the beat, the rhymes are secondary to me. K dot is tryna win a beef. Drizz is tryna make hit records. Drizz’s beat were hard. K Dot’s beats were mid.
