Janet has a knack for choosing the right rappers to do collabos with, that fit her style. Between Tip on this one, Heavy D on "Alright" and JCole on "No Sleep", she always comes with the heat.
Rest in Power to J Dilla.. . The original producer and best maker for this track. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis mixed it took credit. J Dilla is a legend you should get familiar with. SALUTE QUEEN 👑
@@GalaxyNexus1 J Dilla produced this. He was robbed for the production credit. He did receive credit for the Ummah Revenge mix though. Look it up. Q-Tip even said it himself.
This is like one of my favorite songs of all time and as I'm scrolling through your videos and watching your reactions, I'm becoming more and more of a fan, I was pulled in to your videos because of Hip Hop but you're literally reacting to one of my favorite r&B songs ever, there's so much that if you were my friend from the block or from school or from the neighborhood that I will talk to you about regarding this video. I will talk to you about some of the themes And concepts that it seems they're trying to express throughout the video. I love everything about the way this was shot, all the blackness, the bottle shattering on the plaque at the end of the video, there's so much beautiful black themes sprinkled throughout this video, I'm happy you reacted to it and I'm glad that I that you did this and pressed to play, this is dope, your takes and interpretations are so spot on... you are dope
The concept of this video is that it takes place in a lounge during the time of apartheid in South Africa and the music is considered to be "Neo Soul" . It also samples the Joni Mitchell song " Big Yellow Taxi" and Joni sang the same melody in this song. The video was filmed at the Palladium in Los Angeles and the video won a Grammy but the song was not eligible because it was not released as a commercial single.
Jenny-Pooh, I'm so surprised that you may not have heard this song before. If I remember correctly, this song was on the "That's How Love Goes" album which was the hit song....
Can never go wrong with Janet, Q-tip and Joni Mitchell ❤
This whole album is absolute fire from beginning to end.
You’re right, rythm, photos, black people, all is great and awesome. I love Janet ! It’s another generation, another time. ❤ Thanks to you !
Janet Jackson funny how time flies

J Dilla was not the original producer. Stop spreading lies.

I thought he was as well but it was Jimmy who heard the way J Dilla make beats and petty much copied in a way how he would produce this track
J dilla don’t produce the track, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis made their drums sound like J dilla…

This video was inspired by South Africa during Apartheid ( racial segregation ).
This Janet album the red velvet rope created a lane for alternative R&B!!!!
So you see where T.I. got his song “why you wanna”.
Rest In Peace Detroit's OWN J Dilla!❤🖤💚💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You have to react to Q-Tip - Getting up official video. It came out in 08. It was a true feel-good anthem at that time.
That little hook you like is Joni Mitchell it's a sample of her voice.
