Great lesson. Chromatic approaches make it all sound jazzy yet also deepen the blues---it gives it a much more vocal quality.

01:29 - I'm confused. why is this an F13 when there is no F in the chord? Could you elaborate. Thank you very much.

Yes, there is no F in this F13 chord. It's a rootless voicing and it's commonly played in jazz.

Great video Chase. Thx for the time you spend putting these together. I like the little “blooper” at the end - you should keep those as part of your video endings. 😁

Some good stuff here - thanks.
Then the example at 250bpm! I struggled at 80..

Thanks Dave! I think it’s important to demonstrate at tempo so you can hear what that sounds like. A lot of these bebop phrases can sound a little off if the tempo is too slow.

Not sure if I'm understanding this correctly, but on the off beat do you just try and pick a note around the chord tone you're trying to hit next? It could be a chromatic or a diatonic note?

Have you watched my previous two lessons? Those should give you more context to understand.

I have the same guitar that you have, but it doesn’t sound the same? Hmm…. Well, I guess it’s time to try and step up my game. Thank you Chase.
