Great review & breakdown! I was pretty excited for this film and was extremely disappointed by it. I went into it with higher expectations than I should have but that’s because I really enjoy the stranger films especially the original but this one felt like it was a watered down version of the original. Production wise the film looks great. Definitely felt like a bigger budget film but at the same time it lost some of the qualities that made the original special in my opinion. The original film had moments of pure silence that worked well along with the strangers toying with the couple by scraping metal outside, beating on the doors and windows, I didn’t feel like that was present at all in chapter 1. I really didn’t like the characters in chapter 1 because they made some really horrible mistakes. The couple in the original wasn’t perfect but holding the gun to the strangers head for over a minute absolutely took me out of the movie. I don’t know why that scene was even written 🤦🏻♂️ I know it’s just chapter 1 out of a trilogy but what a rocky start 😅
Thank you so much! 😊 I think it's interesting when they do these reimagines/reboot/remake when the source material is so good and they CHOOSE to do something else. I totally agree! The movie looks good, it definitely looks quality but it lost that kinda low budget gritty realness. AGREED AGREED! I also kinda feel like there were so many moments in Chapter One where they were messing with us as an audience. Yoooooooooooooooo! I hated that part so muuuuuuuuuuch and you're totally right, it took me out of the movie too. How it was written and it got through all those people to end up in the final cut. Mmhm, I feel like I have to keep reminding myself of that, throughout the video and STILL TO THIS DAY. I feel like every time I complain about something a small voice in the back of my head is saying "maybe the next two movies will explain/make it better". I dunnoooooooo. We'll see 🤞🏼😬😅
@gilpineda I absolutely agree. The original, like I said in the episode, is in a league of its own and Chapter One doesn't even compare! 😤 This relaunch is definitely not off to a good start but we'll see what Chapter Two adds when it comes out later this year. My expectations are looooooow 😬

the original felt darker this remake made it look like a bhorror.

It was quite Regrettable :( I don't like the new direction.
I totally agree! BUT I am holding out hope that with the next two films the overall story and trilogy of films will be better than this one film! 🤞🏼
