it just sucks all around tho cause it's predatory no matter what, by making part of the set free and part paid people who don't want to pay can still get a little from every set, but it forces people who want the full set to pay, but if they make one full set free then you don't have to pay for a full set but the people who want the other set are still forced to pay, and it's a collab season so *something* has to be iap, so what should they make us pay for? cause no matter what people will complain cause we always complain :(
the game is getting more and more predatory, this is crazy. it's insane that the season pass, which used to be like a "pay a reasonable fee to unlock most of the interesting content" thing is now "pay to get the simpler things that would normally be IGC, receive nothing else and maybe a carpet"
It was actually "pay to unlock full experience but free experience is good enough" which changed to "pay more to gain most of the best things from a season" to carpets.
Looks like I'll just collect the season candles for the sake of getting more regular candles when the season ends. I don't wanna write off the entire season because it's still a bit early in beta but it just looks like everything is tied to IAPs. I know it's a collab so some items have to be bought in order to avoid copyright issues but there's practically no items for f2p players. Even within the IAPs there's no way you'll get a complete set unless you shell out extra money and buy the pass and the shop item. bad move, tgc.
i don't agree with the statement that there's "no f2p items" since there are a few and I'm glad not all of them are paintings (especially since Nests have very limited storage..) but i am too very upset at the arrangement here; especially the amount and choice of iAP - ESPECIALLY since collab iAPs don't return

If the invisible girl skin is an ultimate reward it feels like it should be a mask so it can be worn with any pants. For an ultimate reward that just uses default skykid clothes it seems so poorly thought out. It's clear they're just trying to push IAPs to make as much money as they can. Maybe they had to agree to give the moomin license holders a lot of money to use their IP but why not just announce that the season pass will have to be a bit more expensive this time but include all the cosmetics to make up for it
The way tgc keeps shooting themselves in the foot is honestly quite impressive. If collab seasons are gonna end up being overridden with IAPs they can keep it
I think the saddest thing about the iap's is that it's pretty likely that the packs sold in the season will not gonna be back so most people will never have the full set 😢
Fr! I was especially upset over the ears and tail being IAP. All the games’ animal ears, horns, etc, accessories have to be paid for, so I was hoping maybe, MAYBE they’d finally be “free” for once as part of the season pass
Sadly TGC does this because they know people will want to buy everything, and the worst part is that it works If we don't stop supporting these kind of nasty strategies from TGC they'll just keep doing it
But if parts of the costumes are IAP and IAPs never come back, that means future new players will never be able to fully dress as their favorite characters. That seems so unfair...

I think it's so sad how an irl plushie of moomin is probably less expensive than the iap version is going to be... I think once this season drops I'm actually going to take a step back and keep my money for a moomin or snufkin plush I can hold IRL
Edited (9/25/2024): I was really excited to have the Snufkin outfit but to complete the outfit it's IAP (as with many other items). It's kind of expected because it's a collab, but I'm not looking forward to the additional prices. Also to broadly respond to other comments: talking about the changes in the pricing system is not inherently hating. Yes, it's quite easy to play and enjoy game without having to worry about buying cosmetics. I've been playing since 2019/2020 and have seen the evolution of everything including prices (both free and iap) and I think it's fair to point it out. Of course, do share constructive criticism with TGC. They've worked hard to make this collab possible. At the same time, it would be nice to have more transparency on why this season is designed differently to other collab seasons. I feel really bad for newer players that want unique outfit sets to customize their character but the prices are quite steep nowadays (and I can't imagine how high they must be in other currencies).
Agreed, I have no personal connection to Moomin either so I can do with just the free items. On a positive note, this is our break season! Or, we can complete the quests, not claim any pass items, and get about 300 candles at the end of the season when the season candles exchange to normal ones! :p
They absolutely have to change the current iap it’s so predatory. Not to mention that this season will probably bring in a lot of new players and I’d imagine they’ll want the items but after seeing that everything’s iap it’s not like they are gonna make a big purchase like that on a new game they don’t care that much for! So they will probably leave. Tgc has got to change this if they actually want new players I didn’t make my first iap in sky until I had experienced a whole season because I just didn’t care all that much, why would I spend money on a game I’ve only played for like 2 weeks! I think they are genuinely loosing potential future players and by extension income, if this is how they plan to do the season!!! Like all of the most iconic moomin items are iap! I get why they might do that but come on! Sorry if these thoughts weren’t well put together I am so sleepyyyyy
agree. they’re also risking losing current players- if it keeps going on like this, with the combination of having to grind + dish out my wallet to a company who i used to have faith in and claims to love their players- well, i can’t do it. ha sorry im really pissed ;-; it’s so messed up and deliberately done how you can’t get any full set without buying both the SP and IAPS…. and predatory, as you and many others said. :( if you’re able to on i definitely definitely recommend submitting feedback with this + anything else!! i’ve submitted a few, obv nothing has been done- but if we get lots of players then who knows, maybe we can make a difference :>
I have all ready given feed back but I encourage more people to do the same!! it will probably take a good amount of community wide outrage for them to actually make a change and with the way the official discord is set up (can’t talk about beta in any other channels other than beta ones wich I do understand but then when you ask people what they think in beta chat and you always have people going “oh it’s not official yet! I’m sure they will change it.” (They don’t not enough people said something) And when it comes to iap especially but also ultimate rewards, you also have beta players who typically already have the item (in beta but still) and just don’t seem to care how much it will effect the live game because they already have it somewhere else. I don’t know if this makes a ton of sense that’s just some of what I’ve seen and heard from people and some of my frustrations on the issue I think giving beta feedback should be more of a thing I don’t think I see a lot of people doing it.
I don't wanna sound like a hater ,but if most of the cosmetics are going to be iap ...why does this have to be a collab season instead of just a collab event ? I mean I get it ,but it could have been a collab event that lasted about 3 to 4 weeks with a bunch of iap items

I may just skip the pass. Don’t like how they deliberately separate items of the same characters so players need to pay for both pass and IAPs for a complete set. It would work much better if items from certain characters are only in the pass or only in the IAPs. Also most free items are just accessories.

Funny how this is shaping up to be one of the most disappointing seasons if they don’t make any changes to the constellations These mannequins alone feel so hodgepodgey I would feel less frustrated overall if the cosmetics available were more cohesive as opposed to splitting it up between the season pass and then IAPs and then bloating out the rest of the season with furniture of all things….. I’ll withhold true judgement until the season actually arrives but I’m hoping for some changes here 🙏
First problem: IAP cheating I get collabs need special IAPs and probably a bunch of them especially with bigger companies/brands/IPs/people (aurora was a big collab so it had 7 IAPs while Lp was medium and NCD was a smaller IP so they had 2-3 IAPs), however it is reasonable to say that we should be able to complete a character's look via pass alone. 2nd issue: why is the invisible child's outfit an ultimate reward. I understand that it makes you almost invisible but other than that it just looks like the basic default outfit everyone gets on day one. I feel it's more reasonable to get that as a quest completion item where you get the item after completing a certain numver of quests, it could be permanent but a bit expensive since it's basically a collector's basic outfit, or a freebie ultimate where you complete all the quests and it's available for a reasonable amount of candles. I'm starting to feel like moomin season is so unreasonable to the point that bartering may be the only way to get out of this problem before it comes to fruition lol. But seeing as I'm from a place where bartering isnt considered a good skill, let alone one that would work on TGC or others I have little to no knowledge on it. If anyone else wants to try getting a reasonable season all I can say is good luck.
@@LilyRose-c6kI think they're referring to the moon in IP, aka their copyright kinda thing. Basically, the company that owns moomin has full control over what is free and what isn't. If they(the company) didn't have that control, they wouldn't allow the crossover in the first place.

Really upset at how TGC is managing this collab season. Past collab seasons had, well, the season pass + 2(?) IAP and it was extra stuff. For Season of Moomin so far if you want a complete outfit you need to buy both the season pass as well as the IAPs, if not you have an incomplete set. Which really sucks. Was lowkey hoping Ninny's cape was a part of her friendship constellation along with her invisible skin outfit. Was ALSO hoping the Ultimate rewards would be the Moomin outfit along with the moomin tail, ears, and wings. Shame, tgc.
Honestly, they’re not even beings smart about the in-apps. A lot of people are probably going to skip out on the cosmetics like the hattie fatteners and the moomin headband and tail because they just don’t look that good. And the invisible child’s cape should be just something that comes with her set, so I feel like people aren’t going to buy it just out of spite. So basically, if they don’t make at LEAST half of the in-apps part of the season pass, then both the moomin brand and TGC will be under fire, and only scrape up a couple penny’s from the ikemen who buy the snufkin fit.

I was wondering... Did TGC have a change in staff after the maybe season of passage or season of moments? I joined the game in-between seasons, so passage was the first one I played. From then on, it seems like everything went downhill with the season of nesting being the (opposite of) peak (personal opinion). What happened with all the creative people there making the good cosmetics? Did all of them leave? Because having so many things being filler items is becoming weird. The old items from ts seem to be of so much better quality then what we've been getting lately. This also includes the event items, not just seasons. And the situation with IAPs is getting out of hand too, not to mention that even the IAPs don't seem to be worth it anymore either.
the fact that everything is incomplete without buying additional iaps while the "spirits" are loaded to the brim with spells is absolutely diabolical and incredibly frustrating. like i get its a co-lab season but this is kinda absurd.

Although really cute I’m severely disappointed that a lot of the stuff is iap just to finish the outfit, ESPECIALLY snuffkin’s outfit where most of it is iap. I can see and understand WHY they have to do this (as not to forcibly prolong the season in anyway) but this stuff may be expensive or just not very much worth it. Personally might just buy snuffkins hat and ninny’s cape and sadly have to forgo the rest of snuffkins outfit.

i think some people also forget that the season pass is STILL an IAP. it still costs REAL money regardless of whether it’s better value than the other IAPs or not. i already came to terms with the fact that f2p players will just get the leftover garbage but splitting items for a full outfit across multiple different forms of paywalls is just laughable. what the hell. estimating the full cost of obtaining every item in this season is downright scary. i’d rather sky not be a free game so that people stop using it as an excuse for TGCs predatory IAPs.
For me i am kinda bored with these new seasons styles No new emotes for every seasons that we used to have ,no more beautiful items,no more ult gifts that deserves the spot of ult rewards. I just miss 2021-2022 sky now everything feels bland for me .
these past seasons have been fairly forgettable and bland yes since id say maybe passage seasons have just been pumped out. noticed all seasons since moments last quest has been ''hold hands with the spirits and bring them somewhere'' besides maybe aviary i dont remember that honestly. feels like their creativity and passion died a few years back :/
I feel like there was so much they could’ve done with the whole moomin concept too. Man. I will say though that the nine coloured deer was an objectively pretty good season. I was just so happy to have regular spirits again

I think the problem is beyond Thatgamecompany, it's the free to play model that's at fault. How much are we willing to pay for a cosmetic ? Why do I spend so much time doing candle runs but get very little enjoyment out of the game past the few first playthroughs ? I played Journey once, and it's in my top 3 fav games of all time. Sky is really good too, but like most f2p games it turns into a daily task more than anything. And I don't even spend anything on f2p, I can't imagine for people who spend hundreds of dollars. I still like the game and I enjoy meeting people, changing outfits and relaxing in beautiful sceneries and I hope the story and map of the season are good. I guess it serves as a lesson to stop being materialistic lol. Journey was good because of its story and gameplay, and while I love cosmetics too and would have loved to cosplay as Snufkin or Ninni what really makes me enjoy Sky is things like the Aurora concert, or exploring a new map, juggling while sliding on ice and flying to the top of mountains
I'm going to be really disappointed if this many items stay as IAPs. I really love Moomin (and I love Sky) but this season seems really unfair at the moment. I understand some IAPs are necessary, particularly with collab seasons, but it's just so unbalanced right now. IMO Ninny's cape should be an ultimate reward since this season seems to focus on the story of the Invisible Child. Make the umbrella an IAP OR (even better) make it available from the Little My spirit and bundle the Hattifattener cape with the shoulder buddy as an IAP. The Moomintroll plush as an IAP makes sense to me, I don't mind that. But Snufkin's hat should be available with the season for F2P or season pass. There's a lot of Snufkin items so I think it's fine to make one Snufkin themed bundle with either his robe and scarf OR his robe and the tent. And I think the Moomin accessories should be available through F2P or season's pass too. If they did it like this, I think it'd feel a lot more fair plus would still have a decent enough amount of IAPs (Moomintroll plush, Hattifattener bundle, Snufkin bundle) that are still tempting but don't feel absolutely necessary in order to enjoy the season for both F2P players and season pass players. I know it's still early, so I really hope TGC changes it.
This season looks to be incredibly predatory if it goes ahead as is. You a fan of any particular character? Giving you only half of any characters look even after you buy the pass and stuffing the rest into the shop is just a kick to the stomach. That's nearing EA levels of ripping out content and adding it as DLC, but its worse in that they are using a purchase in order to pressure you to purchase again... My mood about this future season has been soured already :
*All* I wanted was the snufkin hat. I wanted a dupe for the mischief hat, so I can wear other hair styles with it. Ofc the one thing I actually wanted the most from this season is IAP.

It’s weird that the ninny cape is not the ultimate reward with the pants, since usually the ultimate rewards are the main character. Aurora/ little prince etc. I assume it will have a teleport function, that’s the only reason I can see it as iap.
TGC thinks we don't have to dress up and eat in real life. Buying seasonal pass and an IAP to complete an outfit? that's unfair because is gonna take extra time to do dailies and If I don't do them, my moomin set will be incompleted and with that money and time we could actually buy 2 pair of jeans or food supplies for the week

@@Madilizon i suggested on thier discord that if they were going to make something a pay item, they should at least give it an ability. As an example i suggested that the days of fortune cape should give you a 10% bonus on the amount of wax you collect while wearing it. It wouldnt be op but would help out people doing candle runs and show a bit of repect to the players. But ya something like that.

As a Moomin superfan I literally screamed in delight when they announced this season and now I’m not even planning to buy the season pass. I wonder if other markets like Japan or China are just buying IAP without complaint, because the english speaking community has been frustrated for months now and TGC has only ramped up IAP. Fun(ish) fact for anyone still interested, the Moomin book in game looks just like the Drawn and Quarterly Moomin comic collections, specifically Vol.2.
As for as iaps and sp items go, the only set I want, is Snufkin's whole set, thankfully, the other moomin items, including the moomin pants are sp, so me personally, I'm fine. I understand how players, who are fans of the series feel though, but everything is not set in stone yet, October is around the corner and maybe everything will evenly fair.
Not being able to complete a look without the season pass AND buying IAPs?? That's kind of dirty... This was going to be my first season pass experience, I planned to buy the pass but seeing it gatekept like that kind of sours the idea of getting the pass at all. I'm a newer player and I put in anywhere from 3-6 hours of candle/wax grinding just to reach a daily goal of 20 candles, it's an EXTREMELY excessive amount of time for a never-enough amount of candles for all these back-to-back events and traveling spirits... I'm honestly praying for something to break me of the habit of logging into Sky just so I can go back to having free time.
it took me 2 years to move on from sky, I still play but not like before and I'm happy that I got off the addiction but it took too long lmao I hope u could do that sooner cuz games are not worth getting addicted over, there should be a better hobby
Take a break if you need it. It's for the best. I also often candle run daily, but i only ever get up to around 9-11 candles per day. I usually speedrun through the vault and maybe priare, as they have a lot of wax (and the vault especially has a lot of candle cakes) I would recommend lowering the amount you run a day as to not get burned out, but try to be strategic where you run based on the day and which realm has the extra candle cakes. Hope this advice helps!
Ok heres some advice from a sorta veteran at thia point. Search sky clock on google. It gives you the times via countdowns for when things happen. Then start your daily candle run with 20 minutes till geyer. That gives you enough time to collect all the candles daylight praries and get to the geyser. Then go to the hidden forest right after geyser is done. You should have 20 minutes till grandma. That gives you enough time to collect every candle in the hidden forest before she starts. Then after grandma go right to turtle and do that. Concentrate on grabbing all the shells under the water(and the big one on the beach) before resting on the turtles back to collect the green *ahem* waxes 😅. After all is said and done you should have around 16-18 candles in around an hour. Then do races and the music challenge should get you pretty close to 20 by 1 and a half hours. Hope this helps.
So strange my comment was erased. Ok the gist of it was to do the geyser/grandma/turtle in your candle runs. If you search sky clock it tells you the times. If you start your run on 20 minutes till geyser it will allow you to do geyser and grandma while getting all the candles from the praries and hidden forest. (I believe geyser grandma and turtle last 10 minutes each and you have 20 minutes after geyser till grandma starts. Turtle you have to rush to though as theres only 5 minute until it starts after grandma .concentrate on getting the clams during turtle) By doing this you should have around 15-18 candles in about an hour. It cuts down on cr timea by A LOT!
more new players should be making posts like this. I've been playing for 3 years so the candle grind doesn't exist for me anymore... I can't imagine playing this game as a newby with how everything is going now. I wouldn't stick around

The Ults are a bit lackluster ngl :/ i don’t like that the Ninny outfit comes with the basic pants (they could have made it a mask so you can pair it with any outfit). But I think hearing that none of the outfits are complete without SP AND IAP was the final straw. The choices made for the Moomin season is… questionable to say the least. Guess I’ll be skipping this one.
TGC is out of limits atp, not only they are making a lot of IAPs, but to finish an outfit you need both SP and IAP??? AND also of course the IAPs gonna be expensive af, this is just ridiculous. I noticed a long time ago this company and this whole game become greedy but this?? This is insane. I really wanted Invisible Child's whole outfit so seeing the cape IAP is heartbreaking, same with the tail and Snuffkin set. I'm so disappointed with TGC yet not surprised :( I was thinking about getting the Season Pass and i still want to buy it bc there is some things I really really want but man this is just so unfair to everyone, f2p, p2w and every single player. TGC only see us as wallets with legs. I just hope and pray TGC changes the IAPs distribution when it releases live but being realistic i dunno they will.
Well look at it this way, you get 105 candles with the season pass; 35 right way and 1 extra candle a day from the statue. Plus you get access to all the extra tier of items all for 9.99 . The season passes are never really a waste(unless you dont have the money to spare which is fair.)
Part of me wonders if the crazy IAP situation for this season is partially because of TGC biting off more than they could chew for the licensing deal. Like, the company's definitely been making some heavy monetization choices lately (ever since they added in event tickets, I feel like the "freebie" items have slowly trended worse with every event), but considering just how mediocre the free & season pass items are for the Moomin season when compared to the IAP items, I wonder if they were originally going to include more of those items as part of the pass until they were informed they were too distinctly licensed to be viable, and had to quickly cobble together some alternative items that could pad things out instead. That could also potentially explain why certain items were changed during beta to have more distinct effects (like the bell ringing and the clock ticking), as that could potentially be a way to make items feel more "worth it" without having to fully model something new. Like, I do think they've been more aggressive with monetization lately, but before this season it felt like there were always a few good items in each free pass, and I didn't mine paying $10 to get the rest of the pass if there were cool items in it. But this pass hardly has any good items in either version, period, and to have all those other items priced individually and likely for high amounts... yeah, this one's gonna sting for everybody, TGC included

@@starr8713yeah, of the season pass items it's pretty jarring for me to realize that the furniture items are genuinely more interesting to me than most of the other things. Even then, the only one I know I'd definitely use is the grandfather clock (the Nest ceilings are too high for that chandelier to be fun, and the painting's just OK). Between that and the green cape, those are basically the only items I'm seeing that I'm really down to use. Most past seasons there's been at least a few items that've really hooked me (the Remembrance green cape, the Moments glasses and cowboy hat, etc) but this one? Eh. I hope at least one of either the clock or cape is a IGC item, otherwise I'll probably sit the season out entirely
Well this certainly spoils a lot of the excitement I had for the season :/ the fact that no set is complete without making an additional purchase is just crazy to me. Now I know that at least to some extent this could have to do with Moomin just being strict with their IP in which case they suck just as much as tgc does these days. Actually considering skipping the pass now because what's the point? The items are cute but will return one day. Really the only things I'd be missing out on are the ults; an umbrella I'll never use and the invincible child's pants, which again I need to make an additional purchase to complete the set ☹️ Super disappointed.
This season looks like it's gonna be depressing. Moomin is one of my favorite franchises and it pains me how many IAP/season pass items there are. Greed is taking over TGC and it shows >:[
Not only is the number of iaps in this season absurd, but the pricing of each item will probably be expensive, too. I was also hoping we would get actual spirits this season, with new emotes, calls, stances etc. Oh well 🤷
All I wanted was the moomin tail, but I guess that’s not happening. I despise how blatantly greedy this season is, it’s a gross lack of respect for their community and it is genuinely so disheartening.

the amount and choice of iAPs is one issue.. but the fact that collab iAPs won't return makes it even worse i think with splitting the outfits you can argue that f2p players at least have a chance of getting SOME items from their fav character (f.e. Snufkin) but yeah, not being able to complete any of them, even with an SP, when you're not able to cash out on top of that, during the limited season's time frame, is incredibly upsetting
I love moomin but this is going to be a disaster. Tove, the creator, would be disappointed. It is simply money grabbing. No way I will get a season pass. Not to mention that it is so lazy?? I can't rven remember what the last season with new emotes was. Why did they stop with adding new emotes? Also, why is everything in black and white? It looks so liveless. I'm starting to go from annoyed to angry.

its kinda hard playing in this game because of the prices of the iap... honestly i don't think they have in mind that there are players that play worldwide so stuff that is a certain price may be 5x more expensive for another player that lives in a different country... i kinda get that collabs like this usually have more iap items but omg, first the days of moonligh having the whole outfit and hair being iap then moomin having (probably) the cosmetics most people want being iap its kinda disappointing :(

It was actually "pay to unlock full experience but free experience is good enough" which changed to "pay more to gain most of the best things from a season" to carpets.
Looks like I'll just collect the season candles for the sake of getting more regular candles when the season ends. I don't wanna write off the entire season because it's still a bit early in beta but it just looks like everything is tied to IAPs. I know it's a collab so some items have to be bought in order to avoid copyright issues but there's practically no items for f2p players. Even within the IAPs there's no way you'll get a complete set unless you shell out extra money and buy the pass and the shop item. bad move, tgc.
i don't agree with the statement that there's "no f2p items" since there are a few and I'm glad not all of them are paintings (especially since Nests have very limited storage..)

If the invisible girl skin is an ultimate reward it feels like it should be a mask so it can be worn with any pants. For an ultimate reward that just uses default skykid clothes it seems so poorly thought out. It's clear they're just trying to push IAPs to make as much money as they can. Maybe they had to agree to give the moomin license holders a lot of money to use their IP but why not just announce that the season pass will have to be a bit more expensive this time but include all the cosmetics to make up for it

Fr! I was especially upset over the ears and tail being IAP. All the games’ animal ears, horns, etc, accessories have to be paid for, so I was hoping maybe, MAYBE they’d finally be “free” for once as part of the season pass

Edited (9/25/2024): I was really excited to have the Snufkin outfit but to complete the outfit it's IAP (as with many other items). It's kind of expected because it's a collab, but I'm not looking forward to the additional prices.
Also to broadly respond to other comments: talking about the changes in the pricing system is not inherently hating. Yes, it's quite easy to play and enjoy game without having to worry about buying cosmetics. I've been playing since 2019/2020 and have seen the evolution of everything including prices (both free and iap) and I think it's fair to point it out.
Of course, do share constructive criticism with TGC. They've worked hard to make this collab possible. At the same time, it would be nice to have more transparency on why this season is designed differently to other collab seasons. I feel really bad for newer players that want unique outfit sets to customize their character but the prices are quite steep nowadays (and I can't imagine how high they must be in other currencies).
I'll skip this Pass. It seems so boring and hollow as if they grabbed items from the pass to make them IAP...

Agreed, I have no personal connection to Moomin either so I can do with just the free items. On a positive note, this is our break season! Or, we can complete the quests, not claim any pass items, and get about 300 candles at the end of the season when the season candles exchange to normal ones! :p
Consider this. You basically get 100 candles for 9.99 with the pass. They give you 35 then you get another 70-77(one extra per day)

and with the way the official discord is set up (can’t talk about beta in any other channels other than beta ones wich I do understand but then when you ask people what they think in beta chat and you always have people going “oh it’s not official yet! I’m sure they will change it.” (They don’t not enough people said something)
And when it comes to iap especially but also ultimate rewards, you also have beta players who typically already have the item (in beta but still) and just don’t seem to care how much it will effect the live game because they already have it somewhere else.
I don’t know if this makes a ton of sense that’s just some of what I’ve seen and heard from people and some of my frustrations on the issue
I think giving beta feedback should be more of a thing I don’t think I see a lot of people doing it.

I may just skip the pass. Don’t like how they deliberately separate items of the same characters so players need to pay for both pass and IAPs for a complete set. It would work much better if items from certain characters are only in the pass or only in the IAPs. Also most free items are just accessories.

First problem: IAP cheating
I get collabs need special IAPs and probably a bunch of them especially with bigger companies/brands/IPs/people (aurora was a big collab so it had 7 IAPs while Lp was medium and NCD was a smaller IP so they had 2-3 IAPs), however it is reasonable to say that we should be able to complete a character's look via pass alone.
2nd issue: why is the invisible child's outfit an ultimate reward. I understand that it makes you almost invisible but other than that it just looks like the basic default outfit everyone gets on day one. I feel it's more reasonable to get that as a quest completion item where you get the item after completing a certain numver of quests, it could be permanent but a bit expensive since it's basically a collector's basic outfit, or a freebie ultimate where you complete all the quests and it's available for a reasonable amount of candles.
I'm starting to feel like moomin season is so unreasonable to the point that bartering may be the only way to get out of this problem before it comes to fruition lol. But seeing as I'm from a place where bartering isnt considered a good skill, let alone one that would work on TGC or others I have little to no knowledge on it. If anyone else wants to try getting a reasonable season all I can say is good luck.

I’m not sure exactly how it works, but I’m pretty sure it’s like a copywrite. So that’s probably why there’s so many iap’s, because moomin is very picky :,3

Really upset at how TGC is managing this collab season. Past collab seasons had, well, the season pass + 2(?) IAP and it was extra stuff. For Season of Moomin so far if you want a complete outfit you need to buy both the season pass as well as the IAPs, if not you have an incomplete set. Which really sucks. Was lowkey hoping Ninny's cape was a part of her friendship constellation along with her invisible skin outfit. Was ALSO hoping the Ultimate rewards would be the Moomin outfit along with the moomin tail, ears, and wings. Shame, tgc.

Honestly, they’re not even beings smart about the in-apps.
A lot of people are probably going to skip out on the cosmetics like the hattie fatteners and the moomin headband and tail because they just don’t look that good. And the invisible child’s cape should be just something that comes with her set, so I feel like people aren’t going to buy it just out of spite. So basically, if they don’t make at LEAST half of the in-apps part of the season pass, then both the moomin brand and TGC will be under fire, and only scrape up a couple penny’s from the ikemen who buy the snufkin fit.
Right :( the tail is adorable but the ears just arent that nice, they dont seem to blend into hairs that well so even if I decided to get just that it's not that worth it
I was wondering... Did TGC have a change in staff after the maybe season of passage or season of moments? I joined the game in-between seasons, so passage was the first one I played. From then on, it seems like everything went downhill with the season of nesting being the (opposite of) peak (personal opinion).
What happened with all the creative people there making the good cosmetics? Did all of them leave? Because having so many things being filler items is becoming weird. The old items from ts seem to be of so much better quality then what we've been getting lately. This also includes the event items, not just seasons. And the situation with IAPs is getting out of hand too, not to mention that even the IAPs don't seem to be worth it anymore either.
the fact that everything is incomplete without buying additional iaps while the "spirits" are loaded to the brim with spells is absolutely diabolical and incredibly frustrating. like i get its a co-lab season but this is kinda absurd.

Although really cute I’m severely disappointed that a lot of the stuff is iap just to finish the outfit, ESPECIALLY snuffkin’s outfit where most of it is iap. I can see and understand WHY they have to do this (as not to forcibly prolong the season in anyway) but this stuff may be expensive or just not very much worth it. Personally might just buy snuffkins hat and ninny’s cape and sadly have to forgo the rest of snuffkins outfit.

i think some people also forget that the season pass is STILL an IAP. it still costs REAL money regardless of whether it’s better value than the other IAPs or not. i already came to terms with the fact that f2p players will just get the leftover garbage but splitting items for a full outfit across multiple different forms of paywalls is just laughable. what the hell. estimating the full cost of obtaining every item in this season is downright scary. i’d rather sky not be a free game so that people stop using it as an excuse for TGCs predatory IAPs.

these past seasons have been fairly forgettable and bland yes since id say maybe passage seasons have just been pumped out. noticed all seasons since moments last quest has been ''hold hands with the spirits and bring them somewhere'' besides maybe aviary i dont remember that honestly. feels like their creativity and passion died a few years back :/

I think the problem is beyond Thatgamecompany, it's the free to play model that's at fault. How much are we willing to pay for a cosmetic ? Why do I spend so much time doing candle runs but get very little enjoyment out of the game past the few first playthroughs ? I played Journey once, and it's in my top 3 fav games of all time. Sky is really good too, but like most f2p games it turns into a daily task more than anything. And I don't even spend anything on f2p, I can't imagine for people who spend hundreds of dollars. I still like the game and I enjoy meeting people, changing outfits and relaxing in beautiful sceneries and I hope the story and map of the season are good. I guess it serves as a lesson to stop being materialistic lol. Journey was good because of its story and gameplay, and while I love cosmetics too and would have loved to cosplay as Snufkin or Ninni what really makes me enjoy Sky is things like the Aurora concert, or exploring a new map, juggling while sliding on ice and flying to the top of mountains
I'm going to be really disappointed if this many items stay as IAPs. I really love Moomin (and I love Sky) but this season seems really unfair at the moment. I understand some IAPs are necessary, particularly with collab seasons, but it's just so unbalanced right now.
IMO Ninny's cape should be an ultimate reward since this season seems to focus on the story of the Invisible Child. Make the umbrella an IAP OR (even better) make it available from the Little My spirit and bundle the Hattifattener cape with the shoulder buddy as an IAP. The Moomintroll plush as an IAP makes sense to me, I don't mind that. But Snufkin's hat should be available with the season for F2P or season pass. There's a lot of Snufkin items so I think it's fine to make one Snufkin themed bundle with either his robe and scarf OR his robe and the tent. And I think the Moomin accessories should be available through F2P or season's pass too.
If they did it like this, I think it'd feel a lot more fair plus would still have a decent enough amount of IAPs (Moomintroll plush, Hattifattener bundle, Snufkin bundle) that are still tempting but don't feel absolutely necessary in order to enjoy the season for both F2P players and season pass players.
I know it's still early, so I really hope TGC changes it.
This season looks to be incredibly predatory if it goes ahead as is. You a fan of any particular character? Giving you only half of any characters look even after you buy the pass and stuffing the rest into the shop is just a kick to the stomach. That's nearing EA levels of ripping out content and adding it as DLC, but its worse in that they are using a purchase in order to pressure you to purchase again...

Not too excited about this season, I mainly just want the tail. I honestly don’t mind paying for it if that means I don’t need the pass. But at the same time, I want the invisible child.

And the audacity to put a 'spirit' in there being called "inclusion" when so much about the season is about EXCLUSION. It's the season of separate purchases. I'm not excited about the season at all I'm just sad now. If you don't have extra money for a pass & all the IAPs then this is just a kick you-knock you down-&-spit on you season.

It’s weird that the ninny cape is not the ultimate reward with the pants, since usually the ultimate rewards are the main character. Aurora/ little prince etc. I assume it will have a teleport function, that’s the only reason I can see it as iap.

@@Madilizon i suggested on thier discord that if they were going to make something a pay item, they should at least give it an ability.
As an example i suggested that the days of fortune cape should give you a 10% bonus on the amount of wax you collect while wearing it. It wouldnt be op but would help out people doing candle runs and show a bit of repect to the players.

As a Moomin superfan I literally screamed in delight when they announced this season and now I’m not even planning to buy the season pass. I wonder if other markets like Japan or China are just buying IAP without complaint, because the english speaking community has been frustrated for months now and TGC has only ramped up IAP.
Fun(ish) fact for anyone still interested, the Moomin book in game looks just like the Drawn and Quarterly Moomin comic collections, specifically Vol.2.

As for as iaps and sp items go, the only set I want, is Snufkin's whole set, thankfully, the other moomin items, including the moomin pants are sp, so me personally, I'm fine.
I understand how players, who are fans of the series feel though, but everything is not set in stone yet, October is around the corner and maybe everything will evenly fair.
Not being able to complete a look without the season pass AND buying IAPs?? That's kind of dirty...
This was going to be my first season pass experience, I planned to buy the pass but seeing it gatekept like that kind of sours the idea of getting the pass at all.
I'm a newer player and I put in anywhere from 3-6 hours of candle/wax grinding just to reach a daily goal of 20 candles, it's an EXTREMELY excessive amount of time for a never-enough amount of candles for all these back-to-back events and traveling spirits... I'm honestly praying for something to break me of the habit of logging into Sky just so I can go back to having free time.
it took me 2 years to move on from sky, I still play but not like before and I'm happy that I got off the addiction but it took too long lmao I hope u could do that sooner cuz games are not worth getting addicted over, there should be a better hobby
Take a break if you need it. It's for the best. I also often candle run daily, but i only ever get up to around 9-11 candles per day. I usually speedrun through the vault and maybe priare, as they have a lot of wax (and the vault especially has a lot of candle cakes)
I would recommend lowering the amount you run a day as to not get burned out, but try to be strategic where you run based on the day and which realm has the extra candle cakes.

Ok heres some advice from a sorta veteran at thia point. Search sky clock on google. It gives you the times via countdowns for when things happen.
Then start your daily candle run with 20 minutes till geyer. That gives you enough time to collect all the candles daylight praries and get to the geyser. Then go to the hidden forest right after geyser is done. You should have 20 minutes till grandma. That gives you enough time to collect every candle in the hidden forest before she starts.
Then after grandma go right to turtle and do that. Concentrate on grabbing all the shells under the water(and the big one on the beach) before resting on the turtles back to collect the green *ahem* waxes 😅.
After all is said and done you should have around 16-18 candles in around an hour. Then do races and the music challenge should get you pretty close to 20 by 1 and a half hours.

So strange my comment was erased. Ok the gist of it was to do the geyser/grandma/turtle in your candle runs. If you search sky clock it tells you the times. If you start your run on 20 minutes till geyser it will allow you to do geyser and grandma while getting all the candles from the praries and hidden forest. (I believe geyser grandma and turtle last 10 minutes each and you have 20 minutes after geyser till grandma starts. Turtle you have to rush to though as theres only 5 minute until it starts after grandma .concentrate on getting the clams during turtle)
By doing this you should have around 15-18 candles in about an hour. It cuts down on cr timea by A LOT!
more new players should be making posts like this. I've been playing for 3 years so the candle grind doesn't exist for me anymore... I can't imagine playing this game as a newby with how everything is going now. I wouldn't stick around

The Ults are a bit lackluster ngl :/ i don’t like that the Ninny outfit comes with the basic pants (they could have made it a mask so you can pair it with any outfit). But I think hearing that none of the outfits are complete without SP AND IAP was the final straw. The choices made for the Moomin season is… questionable to say the least. Guess I’ll be skipping this one.

I really wanted Invisible Child's whole outfit so seeing the cape IAP is heartbreaking, same with the tail and Snuffkin set. I'm so disappointed with TGC yet not surprised :(
I was thinking about getting the Season Pass and i still want to buy it bc there is some things I really really want but man this is just so unfair to everyone, f2p, p2w and every single player. TGC only see us as wallets with legs.
I just hope and pray TGC changes the IAPs distribution when it releases live but being realistic i dunno they will.
Well look at it this way, you get 105 candles with the season pass; 35 right way and 1 extra candle a day from the statue. Plus you get access to all the extra tier of items all for 9.99 . The season passes are never really a waste(unless you dont have the money to spare which is fair.)
Part of me wonders if the crazy IAP situation for this season is partially because of TGC biting off more than they could chew for the licensing deal. Like, the company's definitely been making some heavy monetization choices lately (ever since they added in event tickets, I feel like the "freebie" items have slowly trended worse with every event), but considering just how mediocre the free & season pass items are for the Moomin season when compared to the IAP items, I wonder if they were originally going to include more of those items as part of the pass until they were informed they were too distinctly licensed to be viable, and had to quickly cobble together some alternative items that could pad things out instead. That could also potentially explain why certain items were changed during beta to have more distinct effects (like the bell ringing and the clock ticking), as that could potentially be a way to make items feel more "worth it" without having to fully model something new.
Like, I do think they've been more aggressive with monetization lately, but before this season it felt like there were always a few good items in each free pass, and I didn't mine paying $10 to get the rest of the pass if there were cool items in it. But this pass hardly has any good items in either version, period, and to have all those other items priced individually and likely for high amounts... yeah, this one's gonna sting for everybody, TGC included

@@starr8713yeah, of the season pass items it's pretty jarring for me to realize that the furniture items are genuinely more interesting to me than most of the other things. Even then, the only one I know I'd definitely use is the grandfather clock (the Nest ceilings are too high for that chandelier to be fun, and the painting's just OK). Between that and the green cape, those are basically the only items I'm seeing that I'm really down to use.
Most past seasons there's been at least a few items that've really hooked me (the Remembrance green cape, the Moments glasses and cowboy hat, etc) but this one? Eh. I hope at least one of either the clock or cape is a IGC item, otherwise I'll probably sit the season out entirely

Well this certainly spoils a lot of the excitement I had for the season :/ the fact that no set is complete without making an additional purchase is just crazy to me. Now I know that at least to some extent this could have to do with Moomin just being strict with their IP in which case they suck just as much as tgc does these days. Actually considering skipping the pass now because what's the point? The items are cute but will return one day. Really the only things I'd be missing out on are the ults; an umbrella I'll never use and the invincible child's pants, which again I need to make an additional purchase to complete the set ☹️ Super disappointed.
