    After 21 years my alternator finally died on my '03 s2k. I was going to buy an aftermarket rebuild until I saw your video. Now I'll repair the one that came with my car. Thanks for the video.

    Thank you so much for this video!!! I watched it a several dozen times and thanks to this video, I was able to remove, send for rebuild, and reinstall my alternator on my AP2 S2K; although, 😬😬😬 after charging with jumper cables (grounded to suspension bolts on both cars) lights turned on, waited 15 minutes, pressed that red start button and *pop* the whole thing went dead, dash lights and all, black, dead, nada, 😱😱😱.
    I checked every fuse in all 3 fuse boxes, none blown, and alternator wires seem fine 😱😱😱.
    Does anybody happen to have any advice for me on what I could do to fix this?
    (I gave up on the forums after reading “3 alternators, 2 batteries, new starter, new tensioner....still can't charge the battery” on the S2ki forum.)

    Does the position of all the other pulleys matter if one decides to replace the belt as well?

    Huge Pro-Tip: Watch our for those AC lines when prying on the alternator. You do not want to pinch one.

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  6 лет назад +7

      I found that the AC lines are pretty sturdy, especially near the alternator since they are crimped. Anyway, you want to pry the alternator up and not to the side. Just an FYI if anyone is worried.

    Would you swap a knock sensor through here or still better to go from underneath?

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  3 года назад +1

      You can do it from above but I think its only really doable with a 06+ as it won't have a bunch of emissions stuff in the way. Going from underneath will work for sure though.

    whats your opinion on aftermarket control arms like from beck arnley?

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  6 лет назад

      No opinions yet. I'm just as curious as you are. I made thread about this a while ago and never got any solid feedback from S2000 experiences: www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-under-hood-22/any-experience-aftermarket-lower-control-arms-1177259/

    How important is the torque wrench for the alternator? (Postponing getting one at the moment, for financial reasons.)

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  4 года назад +1

      Not critical. Just make sure the nut on the back is tight.

    Do you advise buying a Aftermarket alternator or buying a original from the dealer? About a 200$ difference.

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  3 года назад +2

      No advice. But I would buy Denso (OEM) remanufactured

    So did you change the Rectifier or you replaced the whole alternator? 😀

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  6 лет назад +4

      I replaced the rectifier and will follow up with a final video. Just wanted to make this a separate video since it would make the rectifier video too complicated. Also, this is worth a separate video on its own.

    You don't need to remove the alternator to replace the clutch.

    • @DIYGuysvideo

      True, but it makes it so so much easier.
