Same, especially to the point that he's comfortable bringing snacks to their gaming table. I see Jacob's on AFK, I now assume there's going to be a snack somewhere.
Huge props to Paul and any other LRR members who created the video layouts. Small details matter so much, such as the orientation of the top-down character sheets matching the seating of the players. Y'all rock.
I adore seeing Jacob learn the crews in-jokes and references in real time. He has the same kind of humor as the rest of the crew but hasn't known them long enough, so his earnest need to understand the nonsense that comes out of other peoples mouths so he too may laugh.
I’m a big fan of this game and would love to see like a 3 episode interim Long Game of one of the campaigns in the back of the book. I do think there’s too much grinding though, so beef up those soul rewards!
I went in big on the Dark Souls TBG kickstarter and wound up not liking the game very much, but this was one of the best, most fun presentations of the game that I’ve seen. Would definitely recommend playing the Bloodborne board game as part of The Long Game. Does what this game wants to do, but better.
Seconding the Bloodborne BG recommendation. The combat is so much more interesting and tense, the exploration aspect actually exists, and the narrative aspects are really well done.
They are crazy expensive, unless you got it through kickstarter, but the expansions add a lot more: 10 total classes, heaps more weapons, bosses, enemies, mimics, invaders and summons and mega bosses.
I think this games doesn't capture Dark Souls all that well, and it kind of has something to do with what Adam said, there is little room for skill in the game. And I don't mean "manual skill", yeah is sort of important in the souls game but there is also some sort of skill in figuring how to fight each enemy, which changes a lot with some weapons or how to move through a map. I think the Bloodborne game has some interesting ideas, but it's also a flawed game... but a mechanic like the one from Gloomhaven of having power that work on different initiative could introduce some interesting decisions during combat.
First Let's Nope plays bloodborne, then the play it forward has become play elden ring, next is this your card keeps joking about just playing elden ring, And Now Away From Keyboard is playing dark soulds. LRR has become a fromsoft streaming channel and I love it.
I'm confused, I just finished the VOD on twitch and didn't come across the scene used as the thumbnail for this video here. Is not part of the VOD cause it happened offline?
The scene your seeing in the thumbnail is the image they tweeted for going online. So yes in a sense it's not part of the VOD cause it happened offline.
You can tell the makers of this board game have only heard that the games are "Difficult", but never played or seen footage of the games (limited bonfires, unfair Fight Rules, weirdly difficult health system,...)
The stream was great, the DS board game seems very interesting, although it should have probably focused a lot more on the boss fights, which seems to be it's strength. Love all of . the guys playing, and having Jacob on is a special treat I always super enjoy. This kinda is my LRR dream team tbh. I kinda want to comment on the short discussion on Elden Ring at the end mostly though, it's 12 million copies sold, which is significantly more than half a billion dollars in revenue, which is huge. Also it's been consistently pulling over 700 000 active players on Steam alone, which is more than copies sold for some of the dark souls games. Elden Ring is ludicrously successful, and rightly so.
I love this game, though I do one major mechanical difference. When you are attacked and succeed in dodging, you can decide not to roll to an adjacent node and instead attempt to "backstab" the attacking enemy paying the appropriate cost for the attack. The Assassin's heroic action stays the same, as the action makes the attack free which is a significant difference. This feels pretty fair and gives everyone more active options, as dodging already costs stamina, so you can wear yourself out pretty quickly if you keep attempting to backstab.
I always see this game at my store and I’m like not buying it’s too complicated. But I got to say I love the Souls games though I have played 3 and Bloodborne.
I love that Jacob has become a more regular member of this stream.
Same, especially to the point that he's comfortable bringing snacks to their gaming table. I see Jacob's on AFK, I now assume there's going to be a snack somewhere.
Iirc, he mentioned moving to the LRR area and becoming a Canadian citizen during desert bus 2021

Amen vs RUclips bots.
Paul is a tech wizard! He’s amazing
Can I just say that Cameron's "huh" is one of my favorite LRR crew member sound bites?
Ah, truly the Dark Souls of board games.
I adore seeing Jacob learn the crews in-jokes and references in real time. He has the same kind of humor as the rest of the crew but hasn't known them long enough, so his earnest need to understand the nonsense that comes out of other peoples mouths so he too may laugh.

Super fun video! Would love a pt 2 with a full boss....

This was a blast, ready for round two!!
Wouldn't mind a 2nd session watching the group go through the main boss.
Heather gets this onto youtube? Thanks Heather!
This is a cool game. Thank you for playing guys
jacob brought snacks for his friends :pleading:

I legit can't tell whether or not Adam was just messing with everyone with the whole "frogs" thing at the end.

Reminds me of when they did nothing but Overwatch

Lol I saw a TikTok about this board game like just last week.
42:56 Jacob, oh my.
That was a C O O L stream

Yeah, I'd be interested in seeing another playthrough of this. Also the Monster Hunter boardgame might be good, when it eventually comes out.
Jacob mentiones trailer that dropped recently with Graham, what was the title?
Arcade Spirits: the New Challengers.
I wanted to love this game. Each time I played it turned into a huge boring slog. I don't think we even got to the mini boss.
more of this!

I’m not sure it it would work for afk but I’d like to see them try kingdom death monster, it has a different take that fixes some of their problems
Adam "What is this pandering" Paul; and Mic 3 is off.
Get that tail!!
Prepare to cry
