I went to Panabo City in January to see my girlfriend got covid and spent two weeks in the hospital and three months recovering at my girlfriend's place before the doctor would release me to fly home my girlfriend is 62 and I am 67 we will be getting married in the next two months when I come back to PI for good.

Personally, lived with a woman for 8 years. One day at Publix grocery store a guy called my gf's name. She introduced him to me as her cousin that hadn't seen each other in 10 years. I thought nothing about it, they're both from India. Fast forward 2 months and I get home from work and she's packing her belongings. Naturally I asked what's going on here. She explained that Raj wasn't her cousin and she was going to live with him. I was pretty pissed as you can imagine. But if someone wants a different guy I'm going to help her out the door. Fast forward another 2 months and she's begging me to take her back. Evidently they were getting drunk together and beating each other up. Of course I said not just no, but hell no.

Men and women can be friends only in rare cases. The problem is that no one really knows when that is, so it is best not to allow situations that would allow one of those non-rare friends to show their true colors. In these situations, it is not better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Another good video Pea!

In any, case there is always boundaries that should be discussed between partners to know where the line in the sand is not to be crossed. In my personal experience I have not been too concerned when my partner at the time hung out with a friend that was married, and vise versa. There is a lower chance of a married friend that you trust, to do anything to ruin their own relationship than a single friend who may be staring at a long awaited chance to bump one off without you knowing about it.

I have been best friends with a Filipina for 20 years this July, our children grew up together, I was also best friends with her husband until he passed away 2 years ago, she is like a sister to me. the biggest problem is accusations from other people who think you can't be friends with the opposite sex without something more going on.
I'm right on board with you there. I (18f) have been mostly friends with guys since the 4th grade. Just because you relate to someone and get along with them (components to friendship) doesn't mean that compatibility exists romantically or sexually. A few of my current guy friends called me a 3 straight to my face. I think the accusations are more problematic than the friendships. I think I'm actually gonna make my own comment saying this.

Hello Pea, been following you for two years after discovering retirement in Southeast Asia. Well done girl. I imagine you and I could be grateful friends with spiritual, mental and emotional benefits and not becoming sexual. At 68 I've accumulated many female friends with whom we share an admiration for each other and appreciate the different perspectives. I just spent 6 months in the Philippines and appreciate you and your perspectives.

If the question is strictly, "is it possible ", the answer is, yes. I've known this woman since we were in school together. We'd hang out, shoot billiards, throw darts, etc, and never once did I make a move on her in over 40 years. Her boyfriends knew me. Her husband knows me. She'd come down after work and go for a swim, hanging out until he got home. She was like a sister, we grew up together. So your question has to be taken in context situationally.

I have found that not everyone has honor in relationships. Even during a time when things were going bad in a relationship and a woman was throwing herself to me. Even though my girl was giving undue grief. I refused her advances.

Being friends without benefits didn't work for me in 2 out of 3 situations because the women developed feelings for me and I had gone in, telling her, that I intended to keep things platonic. The one time it worked, she was a personal assistant and was very loyal. When I left the job, my former boss was extremely ugly towards her for being loyal to me.

Hey Ms Pea. Great topic. I have lots of female friends. I catch up with a few for lunch occasionally. My girlfriend has hundreds of male friends. She is often hit on by them on social media subscribers but for some reason for the past four years being together it doesn’t make me jealous. I guess as these guys are on the internet then maybe it feels less threatening (?). However anything can happen in life. When I was at University there was a girl I didn’t find physically attractive at all. However over time I found her ‘intellectually’ attractive and the more I did, the more she ‘became’ physically attractive to me to the point that we had an affair. The message is that if we value someone that we want to be with then I think it’s worth showing them how. To me that means having excellent communication and making them our priority everyday. I am 56 yo and have traveled that road. The simple answer is "No" Yes, I had many platonic female friends in my youth, but either they or I wanted something more.
Inevitably, our friendships would fade as each got into relationships and our respective partners got jealous.

These young girls are very innocent lol. Can't speak for all men, but 90% of the guys who are stuck in the friend zone are only there in case she breaks up with the other guy. Guys don't generally want to hang out with women, they want to hang out with other guys who they have things in common with UNLESS they are looking for more.
I have to agree with the second guy, most men are men in waiting and under the right circumstances they will most like sleep or kiss a female friend. I think there had to be a situation to create this and as long as the status quo is not upset they will carry on being friends. I think females can feel no attraction to a male and if there's no attraction she could in theory be his friend for life. However for the male I think under the right circumstances he would cross this barrier. From a female to sleep with a male friend I think she has to be missing something like she just had a breakup, she had a fight with someone she's feeling vulnerable in herself or you are both drunk. So I think as he said possibly there has to be zero change to your conditions for you to keep the friendship. But I feel men if given the chance will always or largely over step.
I have been the “friend guy” in the rotation several times and actually have hooked up with some of my female friends and on three occasions, I actually became their boyfriend. Just be aware that the opposite sex might not always stay “just friends”.

When negative emotions, like envy, greed or selfishness come into play, and people allow that to happen, that's when things go sideways. Of course, alcohol is always a factor too, but that's also self control.

I don't believe that men and women can be just friends, as every one of your interviewees eventually admitted or implied. Some years ago, the wife of a friend asked me that question. When I answered, "No", she reminded me that the two of us were friends.
I asked her whether we could be just friends if our spouses did not exist. "Oh, I see what you mean". There are exceptions, but not many.

If you bend over or walk away and glance at a mirror or a reflection or however and you notice your male “friend,”checking you out then he’s probably a guy who might well be a “friend,”but he’s also an opportunist waiting for a day of vulnerability.
We had my wife's ex-husband over for every Thanksgiving and Christmas for many years. Not a problem on my end.
For me, before puberty males and females can be friends. After puberty things get complicated. If one or both are single, I don't think many are capable of platonic friendship. After marriage, opposite gender friends are fine if you meet in groups or they're also married and you always interact as couples/groups.
When a man is struggling and he needs help, he can only turn to another man for that help. This is why men and women can never reach the level of true friendship that a man requires. Women play a role in his life but friendship is not one of them.

I've had a female friend for 50 years and no hanky panky and we have went to movies together and out to eat. We have even stayed at each others house and did a weekend camping trip. She is my best friend and my wife knows that is as far as it will ever go. I know her boyfriend of 10 years may be a little jealous because of our closeness but to his credit has never said anything to me but he has hinted to her. Fortunately my wife is a jewel and knows that we are like brother and sister and nothing or no one will ever change that. The biggest problem is other people and their filthy minds and they feel no one can just be friends.

I've had female friends. One was supposedly lesbian and definitely not my type physically. The lack of physical attraction didn't matter to either of us when we realized how much we liked each other as friends. Eventually we came to the topic of sex and agreed that we wouldn't mind trying each other on for fit. The occasion didn't arise but the willingness was enough to teach me an important lesson. Male and female are not supposed to be friends if they aren't trying to find out if there is something else on the horizon.

There are reasons why I can completely trust my wife no matter what she is doing. Also, there have not been "endless different cousins and gay friends". There has been just one male cousin of hers who is my best friend here in Mindanao, and has been since I came here in 2017. He has always been a great help to myself and my wife. He is known to the whole family so obviously is not a bogus relative. He visits me each week to eat and drink and sing. He is married, has adult children and some grandchildren, and, unfortunately for him, a wife who shacked up with another guy. I trust him and my wife completely. He's a retired police officer, and certainly was not a "buaya". Oh, I did sing "Selos" on online karaoke a few days ago, Pea! Another excellent video!

You enlightened me. I've been known to be naive all my life. My Filipina ex-fiancé (illegal alien in the USA since 2007) introduced me to her long-time friend that lives near her. He is a wealthy nurse with two houses. His other house is a 2-hour drive away in the California Sacramento valley where his wife lives and cares for their children. He lives 5 days/week alone near us in a beautiful new 3-bedroom house. She occasionally "visits" him.
Since then, I've learned a lot about unfaithful married Filipino men and their girlfriends. They both accept separation, or trips away from marriage as necessary because divorce is not allowed. It has become an acceptable part of their culture.
In conclusion, a Filipina wife, fiancé, or girlfriend will have no reservations about having a secret or known romantic relationship with a married Filipino.
If a woman you are dating or wanting to date has a lot of male friends this is a red flag. If anyone respects their relationship man or woman then they will not put themselves in positions that will cause doubt such as hanging out with the opposite sex alone unless they are blood relative's. Just my view of it.
I can't say anything regarding women for sure, they might become just friends with guys without any feelings but due to some benefits for them, like..
1. If they hang out and eat in a restaurant, mostly boys have to pay, and they may pay for her.
2. She can have security with a male friend with her.
Etc..
These kind of girls might not any feelings towards their males because whatever she wants, and makes her happy. They would provide to her.
But on the other side, Why would a men do all those things for just a female friend?
It's a 100% sure that The Man have secret feelings because nothing is done here in this world without purpose, we know what the purpose of female is, but what about the person of male?

Because I'm living proof that men and women can be just friends. All of my relationships with women have been just friendships. Not just some, but ALL of those relationships.
Granted, I would have loved to have had something deeper, but it never happened. Why? You'd have to ask the women. All I know is that I had a lot of female friends who wanted nothing more than friendship with me, so I had to learn to accept it.
I've come to one conclusion, based on these relationships:
I am not only a permanent resident of the dreaded Friend Zone 🤓, I am the President, President-for-Life, Dictator, Landlord, King, and Emperor of the Friend Zone. So apparently I'm NEVER leaving the Friend Zone. 😱

If a couple is married or in a serious relationship, the couple can have friends of the opposite sex, but boundaries should be set agreed by the man and woman. For single men and women, some friendships end up in relationships depending on the type of person he/she is. When you say Men and women can just be friends you could possibly said yes with limits and boundaries.But, You must think about the situation also,coz it doesn't mean that if you were friends you're freely to hangout with them specially it's just the two of you,you must think about the outcome too.All of those are what if's So you must think in advance,although most girls agreed with that but they know the limitation is.When can they hangout with their male friends and when they allowed their boyfriend to hangout with her female friends too.Give some freedom coz you know with your limits and boundaries,also the situation that would allow.
