But they all know your work. Whether they heard it in the original game, or a RUclips video, or a part of it in a trailer, or if the first time they ever heard it was in Battlefield 4, virtually everyone who has played an FPS game knows this theme; it stands alongside Halo as one of the most iconic from the last three generations of gaming at least. However I know the theme from one game in particular, and it's the only game I'll ever think about when I hear this tune; Battlefield 1942. I have been whistling, humming and tapping to this theme, for literally three quarters of my life, and to this day... _I still can't get it out of my fucking head_ Thank you for creating one of the most memorable and annoyingly catchy themes of all time. Also, for the record since probably nobody else remembers them, I'd just like to also thank you for the _other_ scores in Battlefield 1942 - particularly the menu music, which I swear is still quietly looping somewhere, deep in the back of my mind.

Dude, the menu theme and victory theme deserve the same amount of recognition the main theme rightfully gets. I am still humming them to this very day.

One classmate of mine once invited me to his home with few others, where we played the original Battlefield 1942. At that day i realized that i was pretty good in FPS shooting games and my (new) friends think'd the same. The same day i had new friends and i wasn't lonely anymore. But, i don't remember anything specific about that day, except this theme. And this theme brings up the memories. I have kids of my own now and every now-and-then they ask me "dad, what is that song that you are constantly whistling??? Sounds like a war-related song". Really, thank you for this absolute masterpiece.

Too impressive, too sensual, too glorious, so heroical. I can't describe these emotions with words. When I was young, I started playing Battlefield 1942 and then other BF games followed this childhood session. In almost every BF game this song emerged differently and I got goosebumps. Now I see that legendary composer of this awesome song recomposing after 20 years. We grow up too much in 20 years. I feel honored because my childhood intersected with the first Battlefield games and this song. Thank you Joel Eriksson for beautifying my vita.
My dad got Battlefield: 1942 in 2002 when I was 4 years old, and it is one of the earliest games I can remember playing. That was one game that we could always play together, and we both adored the soundtrack. Your music always got me hyped up as a kid, and it still hypes me up to this day. We would hang out on the main menu for a few minutes before playing a match just so we could listen to "Slaughter" to get ourselves pumped up for the game (by the way, a remake of that piece at some point would be awesome, but its all good if you don't want to). I am glad that I stumbled across this amazing remake of the original theme. Here's to you and your amazing work, Joel!
I got my first PC at 14, and Battlefield 1942 was released the same year. So many good memories from all the LAN parties in my friends basements. I even arranged a battlefield compo at a bigger lan party in Bergen, with this theme song blasting on the speakers in the arena :D Stor takk fra Norge!
I can't believe you're the composer of probably my favorite game theme. As others have said, I have been listening to this theme at least every few months since probably 2007 so yeah, it meant a lot for me. I have just read your comment where you said EA doesnt even credit you in BF5 and wtf (i'd love to know why) also no one ever mentions it about BF5s main theme (or BF1) but THANK YOU FOR BRINGING BACK THE SNARE DRUM OMG, it was the essence of the 1942 soundtrack and no other BF game had it.

Man, all I can say is thank you. You have no idea how many good memories I had with the Battlefield 1942, and this song just makes me proud to grow up with the Battlefield series starting from 1942. This soundtrack represents Battlefield. So sad too see what the franchise has become.

Used to absolutely TORMENT my big brother to let me see him play this.. Just every day I saw/heard him play, I begged to watch. Few times I was managed, this theme was playing every so often.. One day, he finally gave in, he gave me his BF1942 to play, since I clearly enjoyed it.. Ever since, this has followed me everywhere, even one of the first things I did to improve my 'guitar ear', was to play this track. First the melody, then the rhythm section.. And I still rock out to this song at times, for good times sake.

20 years later I still remember as if it were yesterday when I had a good time in the menu or on the loading screen just to listen to the music that made me excited, for me there will never be a better version than the original Battlefield 1942, even though I must say that this new version has been quite good, and faithful to the original, Thank you for creating it and sharing it with us, You are legendary!

I remember entering into game in early 2003. and thinking: "Dayum, man, such a good game, i hope they release more of those." Me now: "Yea, they messed up in BF 2042." I hope DICE will start making better games from now on. Also, one thing to pin out, is taht I am writing my second commentary on the video. That probably shows how good this thing is.

I can’t believe this is a thing. I’m also astonished that RUclips hasn’t recommended this to me earlier based on the fact that i listen to the original and its variations almost weekly. Hell I even have a shitty self made version uploaded myself and I’m only found this now in march 2022. I’m happy i did find it tho since this song simply put a masterpiece above all others to me.

One thing I'd love to hear is a version of this with the violins in the intro pushed back a measure; just like in the original. Otherwise, this is absolutely perfect!
Salute to you composing this masterpiece, Mr. Eriksson 🫡 It evokes feelings of bravery, gallantry (0:15) and patriotism... as well as unease and uncertainty (1:36). And finally, perseverance and glory (2:42). A perfect military theme. It's been playing in my head for years since I first heard it as a kid - not only when thinking of Battlefield, but when I'm consuming anything that has to do with WWII, whether it's a movie, book or documentary. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way either. I've also enjoyed the many renditions of your theme other composers have come up with over the years for the Battlefield games. I live in Guam and especially appreciated Ian Livingstone's Battlefield 1943 theme, as I felt it captured the tone of the Pacific War very well. Then there are Battfield 3 and 4's dubstep/electronic remixes which were also pretty cool in their own way 😅 Nothing tops your original composition, but I just think it's great that the theme turned out to be absolutely timeless. All that said... thank you for coming back to us with this remaster! 🫡

so glad they took the original theme idea over to all other soundtracks. but this one are pure childhood memories xD my first drawings in kindergarden 20 years ago were tanks and stickmen with red and blue lines over their heads carrying guns haha
