Unbelievable. It only took the Spectator 20 years to get around to interviewing this guy. A legend. Don't agree with everything he says but he's still great.
A very wise man who can see things as they are, I`m glad people like this still exist and speak up, hopefully Trumps election does prove a turning point and one that can spread to our side of the Atlantic.
A pleasure to hear a mature gentleman over a conversation over some length, not be interrupted. A very good "pod cast" ( ? ) . I'd love to hear his opinions again.
Unfortunately we have millions of absolute bloody fools who couldn't think critically about what to have for dinner, let alone elect a government, and we are stuck with malevolent fascists until well after president Trump's term ends
I’m with Trump, and I’m British. Who generates tax! Not the public sector. Economy grows with a free enterprise and low taxation, which intern pays the public sector.
VDH pointed out Freddy's continued misunderstanding of the entire scene. Back in 2015 when Trump was first on the move, Freddy regularly failed to see what was happening and why. He wasn't as terrified of Trump as his then-boss, Fraser Nelson, was, but he still believed Trump was the original threat to the status quo. One wonders if now Freddy will at last realize that Trump is an expression and not the cause or originator of any of it now that someone he respects had pointed it out.
Glad we have Victor here with some insight to share because Freddie spent the last 4 years suffering from TDS along with the rest of the Spectator office. Do you think Freddie has even heard of Dan Bongino?!
Good to hear them on Spectator but not sure Freddie or Gove have actually shifted their position to get with the program! Their US coverage has been Guardian level weak.
That was the most wonderful interview. Freddy looking handsome and VDH at his erudite best. I remember the "you're not ordinary" exchange and I thought then how it typified what a wonderful man Trump is. He said it and he meant it. He is a believer in people. VDH correctly said there will be problems but I am so pleased about the new mood of optimism that VDH described so well, it reminded me of this: "There may be trouble ahead But while there's moonlight And music and love and romance Let's face the music and dance"
Brilliant ❤❤❤ Happy New Year, Hold 2TK's feet to the fire, do your best and I may resubscribe to the Speccy, I do miss Rod n Melissa not to mention Lionel xxx
Freddy's - and by extension the Spectator's - barely concealed contempt for the 'counter revolution' is the main reason I did not resubscribe to The Spectator. As an entity it simply refuses to acknowledge the grotesque corruption and incompetence of the western establishment/governing class, and the fact that most of us want to see it destroyed.
No, he does not. I wish every success to President Trump, his team and his family. I follow him and I have got to know so much more of him and I appreciate him. Maybe Freddy put a little more time in to understand him a lot more than he does now.
Freddy seems to be in an unusually 'relaxed' mode and location. Is he broadcasting 'Chez Freddy'? Funnily enough, a friend/colleague of mine runs an art gallery called Chez Freddy in Leiden.
12:58 being a communist this will come as a shock to Victor, tax me less and I will spend more on stuff which will start the economy which will creat more tax revenue. 😊
"Trumpy luck." You make your own luck, Freddie. Trump has done that through personal courage, conviction, resolution, and daring to challenge the prevailing liberal-left orthodoxy. That is something The Spectator's London liberal luvvies haven't done ... thus far. Perhaps the new editor will now make a different calculation and recognise that there are many who are natural conservatives and classical liberals who would like a publication like The Spectator to reflect that. We live in hope...
Not much future for the Spectator with the excremental Gove as editor. However, that Gove's career ends where Johnson's began is surely indicative of Gove's policies.
Imagine listening to Thucydides reporting on the Athenian triumph and demise, as it's happening. Victor is the ringside seat even if he would seem out of place hanging with the DTC (Donald Trump Coalition) at an MMA event. Like Heather Mac Donald, he starts with facts, continues with facts, and concludes with as close an approximation of the truth as one can hope for. Some use Victor like toothpaste. I use him as floss.
I lovin Hanson but he trying to politicize Trump in the typical old fashioned way of thinking is so far of base , even he cannot bring himself to see that this is something never seen before. that old style of thinking is gone now and Victor would best retire. By the way I am 80
I rather think it is you that is clueless. V D H is a tower of knowledge and wisdom relative to pretty much every other commentator out there, particularly in terms of the sheer breadth of his knowledge. I have been following his for some years now and he has been proved correct with regard to pretty much everything.
Unbelievable. It only took the Spectator 20 years to get around to interviewing this guy. A legend. Don't agree with everything he says but he's still great.
Victor Davis Hanson at his best.

Trump winning could be the best thing for the US, UK, Europe and the Anglosphere. I certainly hope so. UK needs to wake the F up out of it's trance.
@@SimonLloydGuitar UK , Canada, and Australia are the guinea pigs of the New World Order. Same to the E.U in some regards.

I LOVE THIS GUY. HE HAS MADE ME UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON POLITICALLY. KEEP UP GOOD WORK
Wonderful. Hanson, the anti-Mearsheimer. Enjoyed that immensely.

Try telling that to the swivel eyed marxist bastards replacing our population and destroying our country in real time.
They don't want to admit it: Trump's got BALLS:
Made of tungsten.
The impotence and ineffectiveness of British conservativsm is well reflected in the Spectator and the Telegraph
VDH is an American treasure‼️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

@@Equality-7-2521 Very well put. The whole Spectator coverage of Trump wasn't worth reading even when it was free.
Glad we have Victor here with some insight to share because Freddie spent the last 4 years suffering from TDS along with the rest of the Spectator office. Do you think Freddie has even heard of Dan Bongino?!
Did you see the straight face when he said, "...the occasional embarrassing speech...". That was awesome.
Wow! First Jordan Peterson and now V D H. The Spectator is getting with the program, so to speak.
This big hitter is down to Freddy but JP is down to Gove.
Good to hear them on Spectator but not sure Freddie or Gove have actually shifted their position to get with the program! Their US coverage has been Guardian level weak.

First time I've heard this chap. Very impressed.
Love VDH, the voice of insightful truthful and eloquent reason. Bless his heart.
What a wonderful interview thank you.
Thoroughly enjoyed this with VDH.
I am sending out love and best wishes to the people 💯🙏🕊️❤️
Trump is a negotiator; just because he says something doesn't mean he's going to do it. It's all about negotiation.
@@notsure64 Donald Trump plays both good cop and bad cop.
VDH speaks in perfectly crafted paragraphs.
When he is given the opportunity to speak......fascists usually start screaming or threatening when an opinion deviates from their dogma.

Me too. I still get the invites to renew but why would I?! Plenty of better analysis from US podcasts now and mostly for free with ads.
Freddy still doesn't get it, does he?
No, he does not. I wish every success to President Trump, his team and his family. I follow him and I have got to know so much more of him and I appreciate him. Maybe Freddy put a little more time in to understand him a lot more than he does now.
I end 2024 in Victor’s company and I surely will start 2025 in the same manner. Brilliant man!
Go go, Trump. Drain the swamp.
Freddy are you going to save us from Gove?
Gove is doing fine. He's a changeling and I quite like what he's changed (back?) into since leaving Westminster.
VDH is a rare voice of clarity and reason, and ... honest. Imagine that in this age of ignorance.
VDH is the Ambassador of Truth 🇺🇸

Now Europe has become normal again, though that is much harder because the EU is not a democratic institution.
He said indominable and he meant indomitable.
Freddy - where on earth are you?!
He seems to be taking part in a Seth Rogan road movie, or some such.
Great interview, a great précis of where we are. Thank you Freddy and Victor.

The Jacobins are being purged😀
Freddie, a good day always starts with making your bed.
Interesting that podcasters could influence the election, totally legal! Love that; Universities need to stand down, eh? Go Israel!
It's an ecumenical matter
The political charade is slowly becoming extinct.
timestamps?
Is this one free of, 'part if the problem' Gove?

Hanson is clueless on virtually every single subject, he's like a broken record, he just repeats the same things over and over and over.
