A number of his grant proposals, he said, all turned down by NIH for studies of nutrition’s impact on the microbiome. Scant money for “nutrition research” pretty much says it all. It’s not about health at the NIH it’s about the money.

Thanks to FI for this talk. I wonder what effect the western diet has on our personalities and aggression. There are several studies now that show dietary interventions can positively affect depression and anxiety.

I am wondering how many calories the hunter/gatherer consume on a daily basis- men & women (!). I am a whole food vegan, female, 56 years and my daily fibre intake oscillates around 50-60 g/day on approx. 1600-1800 calories. There is only so much I can excercise and eat healthily each day to maintain my perfect weight, a good body composition AND be well nourished with micronutrients. To go beyond 60g/day - every day ! - within that calorie range seems quite a chore and I not want to sacrifice variety that comes with less fibre rich (fresh) foods.

Marketing team: "we are all mostly microbes and we have a 5 alarm fire raging".
    🤔🤔
"Lets frame this as "biotech and longevity".

Excuse me, but you are not going to eat the same things as the cows
I suggest you to include more of the pells or barks from the vegetables you already eat
In many vegetables, there use to have many microbes on stand by on the peels just awaiting the chance to feast on the pulp inside

So you can rewire my gut microbiome so I can be my healthiest on candy, pancakes and liquor. I like that idea.
