Damn you Martin. Just when I thought the temptation of building a War of the Roses was over, you slip in with 2 bat reps (and the possibility of a third) and pull me right back in. Excellent video as usual.
Fantastic battle report very entertaining swinging both ways and the small men at arms driving off the Calais veterans and Harrington’s unit was something lol
Just think, if you were playing 40k rules, one of you could have stood and watched for 30 minutes whilst the other dismantles half their army without response!! 😆 Love the reports and the campaign structure. The rules are perfect for this period. Many thanks and keep up the good work!!
A nice game of "Cart Diem" (sorry couldnt resist). Hope you put up a video of your disorder markers, inspiration for such things always abounds from your desk!
Okay, the young man who is leading that armoured cav in turn 7 needs a god damn promotion! Butchers the light cav attacking the wagon, takes fire off the handgunners and retreats to regroup. Then takes off more fire than D-Day AND THNEN recharges up the hill. Valiant is an understatement. Great video as always mate! Really enjoying the background stories coming out of this, plus I like that you're doing the smaller fueds and quabbles
Haha well now you've put it like that... He should be made a duke. The unit took alot of damage but he just couldn't shoft them, hopefully tjey perform as well next time 😁
@@7thson726 am I imagining that handgunners had a rule that would require a breaktest if you took fire from them? Or was that replaced with capping saves at 5?
@@karlmcbride9265 nope your right, if you take hits from them, even if you save you must take a break test, essentially as if the shooting unit had rolled a natural 6. So either way when the heavy cav charged they would have been taking one, and saves capped at 5+, may have forgotten to apply it in couple of places 🤔😁
Brilliant game, swinging to and fro with very unpredictable results. Only at the very end of the game was there a clear victory. Loving these series of videos and look forward to the next clash after the Christmas period.
As usual, I enjoyed the battle report. Great eye candy, like how you describe the game, showing all the die rolls, occasionally explaining the rules. Thanks.
Great series of games by the way. I do like the use of lesser nobility commanders for these smaller games rather than the royal leaders or senior dukes. Greatly looking forward to the next one. Keep up the good work.
Thanks very much, glad you enjoy it. I like to represent as many of the nobility as possible as there are so many intresting / despicable characters 😁👍
Great entertaining battle report, I am really looking forward to the next battle report. Also, it was nice to see the cart from your previous video in this battle.
As always a great game , and fantastic narration , up the Yorkists, soor me being thick , I cant find the link for your unit sheets , as I,m going to use them in MY WOTR games next year , much thanks.
I love those hay stacks. Did you make them or buy them? If you bought them, where from please? If you made them...do share how. :) A great game, it entertained me during yet another painting session.
The haystacks are made from a solid core, polystyrene, or I used offcuts of door mat. Then sprinkle the coir doormat bits over the top. Drizzle with watered down PVA.
I noticed that you force a breaktest when rolling a single 6 on shooting. The HC rules are that if you need a minimum 6 to hit then two rolls of 6 are needed for the breaktest. If you need a 5 or 6 (or 4,5,6) then a single 6 forces the test.
Wonderful work as ever. Really enjoyed this! I really like the scenery...would you have a recommended source for tree armatures? Also, are the road and the river home made? Either way, very nice.
Hi Martin ! I love your WOTR stuff 👍🏻. I find the armour and army style in general of the 1450 - 1500 period so cool looking that I'm on the verge to start this in 28 mm. Besides from the WOTR, do you know of other conflicts of this period that are "wargamable" ??!
Early Italian wars , Swabian war and Burgundian wars , though all of these are more reinessance than medieval which means that the pike is the favored weapon of both sides and that the swiss are in some way involved
There’s also the Thirteen Years War (1454-66) in Prussia between the Teutonic Knights and the Poles, and several other wars centred on Hungary/Hussite Bohemia. Lots of hand-gunners and pavisiers with elaborate and/or uniform shield patterns.
Damn you Martin. Just when I thought the temptation of building a War of the Roses was over, you slip in with 2 bat reps (and the possibility of a third) and pull me right back in.
Excellent video as usual.
Haha sorry about that 👍 oh there will definitely be a third, we're just sorting dates, and a fourth is planned (my new castle needs some table time 😁)
Brilliant as always and some great narrative moments. As a Lancastrian, i'm loving the sight of the double white rose...
Yup...me too!
There were some good cinematic parts, the double rose is an ill omen 😅
Fantastic battle report very entertaining swinging both ways and the small men at arms driving off the Calais veterans and Harrington’s unit was something lol
That unit certainly earnes their spurs, i couldn't believe it haha 😅
Great game - outstanding format for commentary and turns!
Really pleased you like it 👍😁

Thanks, we're glad you enjoyed it, we have quite a few planned, just the next one requires us to build a fair bit before we could do it 😁

@@karlmcbride9265 haha they landed one from closing fire but he shrugged it off, it was a 6 😁
Interesting how this battle developed from several points of contact and lots of brütal casualties
Its a real running battle, the narrative developed along with it nicely 😁
Thanks Gents, a great spectacle as always, thought Robins light cav would capture the wagon. Great scenario! Cookin on Gas Gents, keep em coming👍
Cheers Paul, really pleased you enjoyed it, we have a few more games planned as the feud escalates😁

Another great batrep well done & a very xmas to you all & a happy new year
And to you mate 👍 glad you enjoyed it 😁
Great battle. I bet the Nevilles are so glad they didn't have Martin rolling for them back then LoL. But in the end, he hath the devils luck
The devil paid his dues 😁
What a great affair. I like the rules tweak for "blown horses".
Thanks, just felt like there should be a limiting factor on the heavy cavalry somehow 👍😁
Nice table and Nice battle report ! Thx dude !
Thanks for watching 👍😁
Another good looking game!
Thanks very much 👍😁
Nice game guys, never seen so many 6s from Martin!
Genuine 6s this time as well 😉

Very fun to watch! Question: where Burgundians reguarly involved in this war on English soil?
Thanks very much 👍 the burgundians were allied with the house of york but also it would not have been unusual to see mercenaries in English armies

That's very true, it was just a oversight , i realised when i was editing, a post it note has been added haha
Wonderful work as ever. Really enjoyed this! I really like the scenery...would you have a recommended source for tree armatures? Also, are the road and the river home made? Either way, very nice.
Some of the trees are from last valley, others are homemade. Twisted wire with rubberised horse hair makes the substructure, then add flock.
Cheers Simon. As Robin said most of them are armatures from Woodland scenics with flock on. The rivers and roads are from Last Valley 😁👍

The haystacks are made from door mat material, sprinkled over a solid core. You can use polystyrene as the center.
