Thanks, but you should mention on some series like the SP508, the gasket has to go on one way and you can't reverse it. Ask me how I know... 😳😳

I never saw any wires being connected to the new circuit board. How does it get low voltage?

There is a black and a white. And it will
Become obvious as you are taking the old one apart. But just in case you aren’t the one taking it apart, there are two tabs on the pc board where the wires connect

Would it be ok to put a little silicone waterproof caulk to give it an extra protection from water getting into the light bulb? Around the gasket and glass lid that is.

Hey George the manufacturer recommends not putting any thing on the light , lens or gasket. The best thing to do is just use a new gasket anytime you open the light.

I did this exactly as shown 3 times now and the housing always leaks. I also tried once with plumbers putty around the gasket and it leaked worse. How in the heck do you do this without a leak? It looked good and clean at the start. Funny I took this on because my lens was broken clean through and even with the lens broke nothing was leaking when I started. Thanks

Oh man, Let me see if I can help. Sometimes they can be difficult. First double heck to make sure everything is clean and smooth. Especially check the metal frame for scale or rough spots.
Then using a new lens gasket make sure it fits snug on the glass lens. You should not need lubricants or silicone.
Put the lens with the gasket in the light housing.
Make sure the lens stays centered in the housing as you begin tightening the clamp. You may want to get a helper to keep it lined up and press down on the light as you tighten. Tighten the clamp as far as it will go. Then squeeze the light ring with your hands to get it as tight as possible.
Put it under water for 10 seconds to make sure it’s not leaking. Hopefully it will work this time.

At 8:19 in the video it shows me squeezing the light ti tighten the clamp.

@@Pool-guy Yeah. I saw that. I just did it a fourth time. I actually used the second gasket that I received since they make you buy two (why?). It seemed to fit a little better (maybe). I got out my clamps and took extra time to align them went around with my clamps to seat it perfectly straight (hopefully). I also got out the big rachet to really tighten it down. I have a tendency to break bolts when I tighten things so I didn't tighten it as much as I could have previously. This time I took it all the way. It looks good at the moment (I am testing it under water). I'm not sue if the 115 degree weather here in PHX is part of the problem (or maybe it helps). Thanks. I'll keep you posted. I watched about 20 you tubes on this project no one else was even concerned about a leak. Lucky me.

@@fredbaumgartner5764 since you have replaced it multiple times and it leaks every time, I’m thinking the fixture may be bad. It may have a pinhole or a crack. If so the only option is to replace the complete light

there's an edit at 9:35 that shows the light flush to side of the pool

Good eye! Yes it took a bit of effort to get the light back in the notch. I didn’t want to bore everyone with my struggle 😎

useful Video. After watching your video i was going to change the pool bulb but i decided to watched another video to make sure i learned everything i need to know before doing it. in the 2nd video l learnt i needed to check the GFI before replacing the bulb, which was true in my case. that was the reason the bulb was not working and i did to know to check it. So please do mention it in your video. there are times simples things as checking the GFI is overlooked and one thinks of the worset case scenario. Thank you.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes you are spot on. 80-90% of the time it’s just the gfi. Thanks for sharing. I will mention that in my next light video. We recently changed out a complete light. Hopefully will have it up soon.
Thanks again and have a great summer
