Was at a house party and this was the owners grill. I laughed at how it looked but now im thinking about making my own as it was some of the best bbq i had in a while. This simple DIY grill is amazing.
Hello there I just massage to know if you are open to business opportunities
the way the grill fits in the pot is so satisfying
I made one of these but with much larger plant pots. I have a second grate below the main one so I can put a metal bowl just above the coals. This give me a radiant heat deflector and it can hold water to control the heat when required. I have put handles on the either side of the top pot (they are some form of synthetic from an old electric pizza oven). The two handles allows for easier lifting. There is a small hole drilled in the side of the top pot to allow a thermometer to sit in giving me continuous readings. It works great and using preheated coals with some unheated coals, the heat can remain steady at 110 C (230F) for 5 hours or more (with water keeping the temp steady). You control the heat by the corks at the top and it is very effective. I didn't do this for cost, I did it as a project and it was a lot of fun and I was smoking in a couple of hours. The ceramic hold heat nicely and it's a great conversation piece.

Where did you find the larger pots
@@garrettlongest465 I’m fortunate enough to have a business near where I live that sells gardening equipment including an enormous range of pots, glazed and un-glazed.
@@bradhoward9165 does glazed or unglazed make a difference? Also how would this compare to the name brand ones?
Good idea I would add one thing and say you should buy a piece of cork that will go over the handle on the top that will help keep the handle cool when touching it
A wet rag works pretty well though.

Dude bad ass.
Adam - you are CRAZY GENIUS!!!!!!! thanks Dude!
I need to try this ! I like the ceramic "eggs" a bunch but am hesitant to pay the price tag! Looks like fun too
Awesome! No nonsense explanation for an easy project. I’m gonna try this.
Thank you for sharing. I’ve noticed a lot of comments with negativity which in my opinion is unnecessary. This is just a video showing another form of creativity that someone was willing to share. If it works for you than great however if it doesn’t that’s fine as well. Ask questions, provide suggestions and positive feedback. Constructive criticism is one thing but complaining is another. If you don’t like it don’t waste your time, and keep it moving. The world needs to be a better place not a negative space. Life is too short. Have a wonderful day to all!!!!!
I love this idea when my wife and I move this will be simple for us to put together.

Nice...I have to try it
CAPITAL IDEA !! Absolute winner for simplicity .
My daughter has nagged me this afternoon “ for a barbecue “ and because I have a collection of old chimney pots , urastone flower pots , some grills and a tub of fire cement, I knew that somehow if I got them in the right order , I could knock something up to make a Cooker. Your vid is all I needed to get it together 😃 TA Very much Sir - regards from Wessex nr england 🧚♀️🍄🏴😇❤️
Very cool idea
Flower pot grill, great idea, thanks for sharing!!!
This is like a throwback to alton brown's good eats where he smokes a pork shoulder. Way pre youtube, i imagine the first uploader of this setup got this from good eats. I want to try it personally but i have a grill with an offset smoker box so i dont need it but one day i wana try it.
mixwell1983 yep saw this on AB Good Eats.
Excellent idea !!!!!!!!!!!!
Easy... looks very good...
And the best material to cook food !!!!!
I would suggest a domed pot for the top, it seems distribute the heat/smoke much better. This design came from Alton Brown over 15 years ago, and has worked great. I use grilling gloves to lift the top off, but I'll dry the U-bold handle. Thanks for the video.
As Mr. Brown suggested we use a hot plate with soaked chips in a pan.
I will go out and get the BBQ gasket material you suggest. - Thanks for the Video
He wasnt the first..
cool idea
I actually saw a guy enter a SCA (Steak cookoff competition) using a large flower pot. Funny stuff.
Cool I like it.
That was pretty darn cool!
Love the easy idea
I saw a homeless guy using one like this. Not sure what he was cooking but his dog was loving it.
aww, poor dog.
actually the dog was loving it, it was probably a cheap steak

pefect indeed
wow cool video i like 👍👍👍👍👍
Made one of these 10 years ago..nice job man.
nice one!
Awesome
when cooking sausage make sure you cut strips into it so you release all the juice and flavor !
A parts list would be even more awesome
What kind of list do you need? There are a total of like 4 items to make this happen. You do not need a parts list
I'll be over for dinner latter? Very imaginative well done.
simple.....and awesome thanks
Wooow😍 thank you very much
Great life hack
Incredible gooodd idea
Great ideas!
That is brilliant! Honestly, respect ✊
Cut a square hole out at an offset angle like you would a pumpkin on the side of the bottom pot, embed magnets in the pot and square piece you just cut out and you could have an opening for adding more charcoal
Super idea!!!!
That's a very good idea.
Nice one Adam, thanks for sharing.
Well done video... thanks
Hey, I think I'll steal Alton Browns idea for a flowerpot grill.
Masonry drill bits work well too, to avoid possible cracking of the clay pots! Cool!! I mean,... hot!
thanks for sharing..
That was awesome what a good idea
Superb idea 💡 😇😇
Hi
This is really amazing
If you guys like getting Alzheimers a couple years earlier, definitely start cooking like this
This is a very attractive way to grill I always hate looking at a covered grill in the back with this surrounded by plants..... good idea.

🌴 wow was just passing thru , and had to watch this I was in a Ace Hardware day before yesterday, they were selling the big green egg , 😳$$$$$$$$$, now I know they make bigger clay flower pots this is like brilliant!

Hello there

Does the lead in the clay pot affect the food???
I love the idea.thank you for sharing
oh trust me I will be making that
I love this Idea...
Thank YOU for sharing this great tutorial..
Awesome!!!!!👏😊
NICE ONE!
So awesome!
Make sure you don't get a zinc plated u-bolt. Zinc is pretty bad to eat/breathe in, and the top is definitely getting hot enough to get it airborne. So stainless steel hardware all around is required. I would also wrap something around the handle, it might get hot, but also that thin metal surface isn't fun to try and pick up that heavy Terra cottar. But maybe not...
Things I would improve on: The top hole can be plugged with some fire-brick cement and have a permanent thermometer in it. Just to give you an idea what the top of your cooker is idling at. A rough indication as to what is going on inside, and one you never have to remember to put in place.
I would spray the inside of the pot with the high-temperature BBQ paint, just so that it won't absorb as much grease and turn the pots weird colors and smells. Plus, it would be a lot easier to clean since the surface would be smooth. I might do the outside as well, for that same reason.
One of the holes in the side would be big enough for me to get my temp probe into, so I know what the temperature of what I am grilling is at. Sure, it is going to take 8 hours... but I don't want to spend three times as much time opening it up to check the meat when all I need to do is dump in a handful more charcoal.
Alexander Borsi good advice
Zinc is actually quite safe. One little weld on galvanised steel and u have a nice cloud around your head. Been doing it for years - still alive, still bbq'ing
Alexander Borsi o
Should put a piece of gasket between ubolt and nut.
Great work on video mate
Smart idea buddy
Nice
A whole another meaning for Smokin pot
Epic mate
super! thanks!
Throw some black high heat grill paint on the outside of that and it would look even cooler
badass love the idea
Wow awesome video super creative. I have a BGE and love it but the college version of myself would do this in a heartbeat.
This is pretty awesome and really doesn't cost that much.... thanks!
Great tip!
Thx!!!!!!
"This is a real simple project." I thought he'd just be throwing some charcoal and a grill into a flower pot.
My dear COVID-19 is still distributing in your country
