I love that you guys cover the really fine points of it all. I think it goes a long way to helping keep the human from getting frustrated.
I've not seen such a case where the bird is trained already / so talented, but the mom needs all the retraining ❤ in a great way, of course--I'm so jealous how incredible the birb is! Kudos to you both and your fun journey!
Love watching how you help people out with their parrots.
We always love cockatiel content!
I've definitely had to do similar training. It's a good reminder to keep it up.
My tiel Terry always loves to greet my entrance into the aviary by landing on my shoulder
I really love getting snippets from these masterclasses
Love watching your masterclass sessions 💜 my budgie Peeko is exactly like this! I'm so glad you did this video now I know I'm not the only one 😅 I have already been trying to teach him to "stay" or "wait" because the minute I reach for a treat or make any move while he's sitting there waiting for a cue, he will come over expecting a treat. He started to get it but I haven't been able to do as much training with him lately due to chronic pain flare up. I want to get back to it soon, I was doing it almost exactly how you guys have here just teaching him on my own and trying different things based on what I've learned from your videos. I just absolutely love those moments when without really saying anything, you can see your bird's mind working trying to work out why they are not getting the treat, then the moment when they realise what it is they need to do as I was trying the approach of only rewarding him when I actually asked him to come to me.
But now I know that it is literally any time I reach for something, he goes nuts expecting a treat and it transferred to him being all over me and my partner when we are eating because he sees me reaching for it, even though I have never fed him our food 🙈. So I think I'm going to have to make it more unexpected the way I get treats for him? I'll see how that goes. Thanks so much for doing this video! The cockatiel Mama did a great job 💜🐦
Cockatiels are known for being close with their peeps!
Great video, thanks 👍
Thanks again awesome peeps ❤
Brilliant!
Great information!❤
Great video! 💖
Looks just like my cockatiel Napoleon. Like Napoleon dynamite
My first thought when opening the video. What is that securityguard doing in Birdtricks video??😄
🤣
Need to ask! My Indian Ringneck constantly wants to be with me (Lovley but not optimal?) Except when (before I realised) I was pregnant, if called would fly to me, bite (which never did before), then fly off & screech?? Almost like totally peed off because knew I would have someone else who
would take my attention away?
I love that you guys have segments for cockatiels.
Shirt makes me miss Rocco
Love from Pakistan ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Any tips on getting your Cockatiel to not land or want to be on your head?? Our Phoebe has a very bad habit of top of the head and we would love to break that. HELP
I have the same issue with my tiel if I’m not holding my hand up for her to land on AND she’s super attached to me and clingy. So I feel like I’m in a little bit of a pickle because I’ve been trying to reward her for flying to my shoulder but then at the same time I don’t wanna reward her for flying to me because I wanna get her to be comfortable sitting somewhere by herself and not constantly being on me 😅 she definitely is getting better with landing on my shoulder instead of my head though through the rewarding and actively trying to call her to my shoulder and I’m doing stationing training with her as well. Idk if that’s the right path but we have slowly been making progress
@@solly_wendelyn I think that is a way to go. Am no trainer, but i have taught my lovebirds to come and land only on my hand. They can get a little agressive on he shoulder so what i do is i a) only recall to my hand, b) when they do fly to my shoulder i ask them to come of (which i also teach as a separet trick) and c) i don't give them almost no attention when they do fly there. Stationing is also great. If Phoebe (@sarahwalker.friendsfan4life) has a problem with head, i would try the same thing. My male likes to hop onto my head from time to time, but it doesn't trigger him so i just let him. Good luck with training!😊
My parakeet does the same thing.😂
what is...too much freedom?
