Thanks for the update on Roku and Korra although I’m sorry to hear Roku is confrontational with you he might be holding a grudge that you sort of abandoned him (I know you didn’t) and once he gets to see you everyday again he’ll chill out, wanting love and scratches too!! Seeing Korra so lovable and up close was enough to make me extremely happy and although the news of their new dynamic is hard to take I do understand!!
No not at all, as he behaves this way with every single person that nears korra or even animal. So he’s just being protective, i think people need to start accepting that he’s not the same pet anymore, neither are due to them being paired. Just because he is like this when im in his space touching his girl, does not mean he is unhappy always. He is happy and content when he does not feel korra is being approached on same as any wild macaw would feel :) he doesnt feel abandoned as he was behaving this way before he even got here for near 2 or so months. I need to make clear people understand a shift in dynamics from bonded pairs and not because of anything else because they want to see cute cuddly vids lol
In these uncertain times it is so good to find your channel I have always been close to birds ! I was raised in Smithville,Tennessee and I would sit in the woods and feed the wild birds ! I don’t want to put the needs or expectations of other people before their needs. I have been ok with this for over a year now, my exciting goal and desire now is to build their new large flight aviary and amazing interior. That way they can be comfortable and have enough space to stretch their wings and live a married life 😂 if he decides he wants cuddles cool if not cool, im not phased as i accepted them being a pair long long ago. Mated macaw pairs have eachother as their entire world, i’ve zero interest in trying to get between that 😂 especially if it brings harm to one or both. So building the oasis for them is my focus, not wether or not i can make cuddly vids of them 😜

Linda B if they dont want to return its due to a very specific reason ie danger preventing them, but otherwise at the end of the day they naturally want to roost and go home Not stay out and be left alone (not natural behaviour) so its no issue. We fly pretty much daily for last 5 years, longer for others and its no issue haha in rare cases they are too busy playing we pack up and start to leave and they see this, panic and come screaming after us 😂
Mr B, if you are able to raise another Macaw parrot, will you 'pair' him/her or just keep him/her as an individual feather kid? BTW, was that BMO in the cage? That snuggle bug....*must have* xo

I just got a male adult amazon parrot. he was given to me for free, he is very aggressive and has never been around birds, out his cage, never had toys or been touched. how would I train him? im hoping to get him trained with people and used to other birds. then in the future do recall with him. How would I get him to get tamed and be friendlier. I understand they have trust issues, and a background of plucking.

roku and korra are a bonded mated pair now, I think people may not have the understanding of what that actually means. Unlike small birds and chickens that can pair with who ever some species of larger parrots bond and pair for life. It's quite common that if one were to die in the wild the other will die as well as a result of depression via not eating, drinking. In australia we regularly see cockatoos that have been hit by cars and their partners sitting dangerously close next to their dead mate, they will either get hit themselves or die of starvation/dehydration. Bonded pairs in the wild will never separate, they stay together. They become each others world, which is beautiful. I'm no longer primary focus, dynamics have changed and I'm now an outsider to their relationship which is fine, their priority is each other. When you understand the processes of free flight you can instantly see how this is not a suitable dynamic. My style of free flight is taking out one on one or different groups, I cannot split them without causing mental distress and harm just because people want to see them in the air. As I explained in video description the focus needs to be on their wants and needs not that of outsiders wanting to see them flying around. So the goal is to build them a large flight aviary, where they can be comfortable and live out their natural behaviours haha I'm excited for it as I love new projects like this, I'm wanting to grow plants and put in large features for them as well as a pond! :D
If they know you, they are one of the most loyal animals in the world. I trust my bird, even if he can do a lot of damage to me. I've touched a macaw reported of being aggresive(he nearly broke his owner's finger, he is a rescue)and I could touch him with no problem. You have to use the right approach, and stop when they are unconfortable. 😁

@@alilbitofcountry Ah, ok... My experience with birds says that sudden movements,as another bird flying suddenly, can startle them. But yes, I admit sometimes they protect you. My tiel "protects" me from a canary that bites me. He goes craaaazy... That means separate timeouts...

I think people are bringing a finality to something thats just entered a new stage of life. I'm at peace with it easily, simply because they are fulfilling out natural behaviours, the same behaviours that would be exhibited in the wild :) the whole purpose of free flying for me was so that my birds could have as natural a life as possible, becoming a bonded pair is part of that (despite me wanting super hard to have a male GW korra ended up a girl lol) all behaviours Roku and Korra are showing are not out of the ordinary they are natural. It's possible that Roku once settled in new aviary will not see me as a threat and that would be great, and it's likely that he may not and that's great too. As I've mentioned before, it's about putting their wants and needs above your own, if they want to live out their married life in peace without me intervening daily by trying to wrestle them etc then so be it haha It just means that I now have a new project of building a new massive flight aviary with amazing things inside (pond is 100% a given) and making it as amazing and comfortable for them as I can. Once they have bubs, a new Roku Jnr will be born (hatched) and I can do free flight vids with him however that does not mean I need to change the name of channel or stop uploading videos as though they are now dead and irrelevant lol they are still the same playful birds, just with each other. I can also add hidden cameras to catch their play time, nesting time in the box, their convos etc etc everything. So again for all those concerned I totally get it but at the same time there's no need for a sense of despair and finality lol they are more then likely going to be around for decades to come haha

Once they have bubs, a new Roku Jnr will be born (hatched) and I can do free flight vids with him however that does not mean I need to change the name of channel or stop uploading videos as though they are now dead and irrelevant lol they are still the same playful birds, just with each other.
I can also add hidden cameras to catch their play time, nesting time in the box, their convos etc etc everything. So again for all those concerned I totally get it but at the same time there's no need for a sense of despair and finality lol they are more then likely going to be around for decades to come haha
