      @@RedTopReactions thank you. Your reaction to that story thread is among the best-so many just shake their head, or just don’t react at all, like they weren’t picking up what was being put down at all. It’s helpful to see the horror and offense from other people who are understanding what he’s saying. It’s such a taboo thing to talk about, despite it being shockingly common, which unfortunately just means survivors live in a kind of void of societal silence.
      Fortunately, I, like Jenny, have a fraternal male twin, who unlike Screech for Jenny, has turned out to be a major source of strength and support in my life. I’ve also had good trauma therapy, fortunately.
      I really value his storytelling work in these tales, because in just 4 bars he’s calling to light something that is to this day very much thriving in the shadow of society’s reluctance to talk about these topics. It’s really significant work, that Ren has done here.

    Of the countless reactions I’ve watched to this, you did by far and away the best breakdown of Violet’s Tale. LOTS of reactors have just skimmed over the part about the father “tucking her in tight.” You got the point about the cycle of abuse right away. When Ren sings “she never had a chance” up that echoing stairwell my heart is ripped out every time. Thanks for taking the time and thought on this that you did.

    See why everyone was so anxious to see REN’s diss reaction? He’s SO unpredictable and it’s one of the reasons we love him! He might be loving, empathetic, dorky, geeky, fun, soft core risqué, or an unhinged psychopath, lol. Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’ll get. Today you saw him cruelly take out 3 people but also do it to bring awareness and teach people to not be ‘silent’.

  • @albamartinez4987
    @albamartinez4987 Год назад +38

    My first time here and this was one of the most intelligent, thorough and empathic reactions to this work of art out there! You took your time to understand it even after your baby came to you. I instantly understood why you felt so strongly about the subject. You captured all the important parts and managed to guess the ending as a result. I cannot tell ypu the amount of reactors that miss it altogether! Ren was inspired to write this when he saw a news report about a 14 year old who had stabbed a prostitute to death. The reporter's words at the end were 'It's such a shame' and this is what triggered the whole thing. Ren seemed shocked by that sentiment of 'Oh well...whatever...let's move on to the weather..' He wrote The first tale in 2019 so 2005 is 14 years earlier. And rightly caught...Ren wanted to highlight the cycle of violence and how it affects people and generations. Now realising this you now note Jenny's age. Walking the streets a thousand times b4, rosy cheeks and high heels indicate she ended up as a prostitute at just 14. As her mother, Jenny must've been sexually abused for her life to have led to this so young, snd like her mum, Jenny was silent in that she froze in the face of violence. Screech on the other hand was like his father, quick to anger with a violent streak. I feel that after they were separated as babies they must've ended up passed around foster homes and lost to the system abused by those who were supposed to protect them, just like their poor mother. My favourite part of the trilogy is when he looks up at the stairwell and says 'she never stood a chance, the devil comes to dance'. Here it's like she's asking God for help but all she finds is darkness, so the devil easily takes over. The emphasis on the 'sssss' sound in 'dance' made me think of a snake, appropriate imagery for the words. Ren loves religious metaphors, but apparently he s not religious himself according to a comment Ren's father left in a reaction somewhere. Anyway. Apologies for the long comment. Subbed X

  • @tomhoremans2506
    @tomhoremans2506 Год назад +5

    Watching this for the second time now and loving your reaction even more. In that epic 6h live vid, I already really loved this part but there was loads more to love: imo you were the only truly unbiased reactor to that Ren vs King Dotta battle that I came across (correction: Ray also went in very respectfully towards Dotta), loved the phonecall and KingDotta’s precence in the chat, and all the other stuff: epic live! Anyway, when this edited version popped up I clicked without hesistation (clean edit btw + thumbnail came out nice as well, caught your face at exactly the right moment 😂).
    The thing that struck me most this second time viewing this was how, in a weird twist of fate, that tiny child.s hand was laid upon your shoulders at exactly the moment in Violet’s Tale where it starts to speak about child abuse. I honestly believe that the reason why you had to go back twice before the reality of those lines started to register was that at first you simply couldn’t make that association with violation while your child was nearby, and that says a lot about you: firstly that your obviously nowhere near that type of father, but more importantly it also gave us a peek into the depths of your fatherly love and inbuilt protection-mode towards anyone who would try to harm your child, shown in the outrage on your face when that line did register eventually. These types of things like fatherly love and protection should be universal but unfortunately really are not. So that part of the reaction stood out for me when viewing this second time. It warms my heart to watch warmhearted, loving people that are basically good and loving through and through. Still liking the empathic instant understanding of the whole story (trust me: you wouldn’t believe what some reactors miss and all the idiotic crap they say during their reactions to these tales, it’s quite mindblowing actually…). But as said, the few seconds that really did it for me here all came from a couple of tiny fingers on your shoulder and the impact that had on that part of your reaction. So congrats on a truly great reaction as a whole, and kudos for that little part that gave us some insight into the kindness of your soul. But i guess i’m starting to sound a bit corny here perhaps (and overly analytical towards you as a person), so I’ll leave it at that. Great reaction (one of the best ones, if not the best to these tales I’ve come across)! Respect✌️

    Screech violent like his father taking on his traits. Screeches girlfriend and best friend are having an affair as they were together which is why when he knocked and called they were both busy.

    What a ride to take with you! I'm never surprised at how quick (and compassionate) you are on the uptake, but it was so much fun to watch your brain and heart at work on this one.
    My favorite musical detail, I think, is the way that each intro music foreshadows the song to follow; Jenny's intro is sad and vaguely fearful (once you know the story to come), Screech's intro is frenetic and full of bravado, Violet's intro is mournful and almost medieval at first -- like you said, music for someone already dead -- and then all that fast tapping in a minor key, an omen of unavoidable violence and tragedy.
    That and the distant seagull call right at the climax of the violence, after the "Wait. Say something Violet!" Stretching for WHY it hits me so perfectly? It's a reminder that the wider world exists, it's like a reaper arriving to take her soul, it's like an ambulance siren.... but I don't know, really. It just works. And I love it either way, but if that noise wasn't planned and added in post, and really happened live during the one-take recording that they filmed dozens of times that night? That makes the perfect timing of that single seagull's screech (?!) that much more strange and special.

    • @wwdudley
      @wwdudley Год назад +1

      I've always assumed the seagull screeching was a happy accident. Brighton is on the coast so seagulls are always around being noisy. You can hear them in a few songs when there isn't any music or singing happening (like the end of Bittersweet Symphony, ironically at the birds of feather line).

    This is loosely based on a newspaper headline about a 14-year-old boy that killed someone in London. And Ren took it from there to paint a moving commentary about intergenerational violence and trauma. Right there with you the whole way on this wild ride.

    Mate, you're a pro and it shows. "Is Violet Jenny's mother?" was a great, close informed guess so early on. And then understanding the full story without even hearing the last line. Many people do not get it even after hearing it in full.
    No doubt one of the best reactions to this I've seen, and I've seen at least dozens. ❤
    Also, do not apologise for pausing.
    And finally if you watch it again, you'll see additional details like parallels between Jenny and Violet on one hand and Stevie and Screech on the other. Or what was a 14 years old girl doing in the city at night in high heeled shoes.

    This was definitely worth the wait. A little detail you may have missed, or maybe you forgot to mention, is, that Jenny was maybe (probably) a sex worker. 14 years old walking home that late at night in high heeled shoes, plus the "she had done this a thousand times before" reference. It really is a tragic piece. (Trilogy) I'll admit I had tears in my eyes the first time I watched the trilogy. And the second time as well. Final thoughts: I think you hit the head on the nail for the most parts. I also think you did this one justice. More so than most reactors I've watch so far. Congratz and much ❤

    Perfect reaction Hype man! Also well done mediating the battle...Leave to fuckin Ren to "dick in the mouth dog" Dotta & Gumby (or whatever character he chose) w dreads and earn their respect at same time.
    Personally I think the message he sent at the end is so important and time to rage against the machine is coming soon, that I hope that part of Ren's flick of the wrist dis is what people remember! You on verge of realizing Ren truly is a psychopath, just in a sort of genius, Shakespearian, Ren way! Hope he keeps doing what he is doing and "Protect Ren at all costs" should be all freedom loving peoples motto!

    When you were nervous at the start - I thought... Oh OH! WAIT til he gets to Violet!
    Great Heartfelt Reaction.
    Yes, a Roller Coaster -> Smack into a Brick Wall! What a Masterpiece. What a topic!
    Both of them 14 and both out unprotected on the streets. Jenny (an underage prostitute out late at night walking these same streets in high heeled shoes a thousand times before) and Screech (puffing himself up tough - part of a street gang.) Ren takes us right into the frame. He forces us to be present - not as bystanders - but a Witnesses! { As one viewer commented; she wanted to press pause and run go dial 911!) He wants us to CARE. Not just murmur, 'Oh what a shame...' and then click away to the next news item.
    Ren is a powerful Social Commentator as well as a mega-talented musician. He doesn't ask; 'Why do these things keep happening?" We KNOW why. He lays out the pathways that lead innocents like Jenny and Screech and Violet, into becoming victims and/ or perpetrators. Ren's question is 'Why aren't we doing more to stop it?!"

    I've watched this a thousand times now, and you did one of the best reactions. The fact you didn't gloss over the family violence, it's effects, and that it effected you so much you had to pause and process it says a lot about you. Thank you for your empathy and not remaining silent. So many gloss over the uncomfortable feelings that are brought up. Fuck the dad's and significant others like Violet's that exist in this world.
