Did it ever occur to doctors that when the drugs preceding clozapine did not work..maybe.. it was because they don’t have a clue what they are doing to an individual-? Having seen firsthand how a relative was “diagnosed”, started ( involuntarily, with no explanation) on antipsychotics, speed tracked to injected neuroleptics, stopped and started on multiple drugs, put through cold turkey withdrawal into a life threatening physical decline- from withdrawal, to finally Clozapine and anti epileptic drugs, I can safely say the drugs create the condition for many people who were just highly stressed or traumatised. PTSD can be relabelled Schizophrenia.... side effects so far for relative- so much rapid weight gain scarred all over from huge red stretch marks,on top of older stretch marks . Brown liver spots on eyes. Pre diabetic. Nerve damage to heels. Incontinence. Inability to swallow properly. Seizures. Unable to stay awake - sleeping on off all day. Heart tremors. Hand tremors. Unable to tie own shoelaces or do up coat zips or buttons. Unable to find clothes that fit. The new reality from age 18 for one young person previously slim agile bright energetic and good looking with his life ahead of him. Every other type of treatment should be tried before neuroleptics .
He is 24 now. 7 years of struggle to deal with side effects. Could not finish studies. Just let go full scholarship business degree , second one - he cannot produce enough energy to read anything. It is like watching someone slowly tortured . It slows down brainwaves, poisons the system and reduces function to bare minimum. Young people with still developing brains should NEVER EVER be prescribed this poison.

I don’t want to take away from positive experiences other people clients of health system may feel they have with this drug, but when I hear people say it reduces voices- one interesting fact of anti seizure meds is that some cause ‘ Aural Hallucinations’ - “ voices”. This is a totally neurological phenomenon or effect- nothing to do with psychiatric level mental illness. It may have a psychological impact- but people who are prescribed Lamictal when there is a very big clinical question mark proposed to them about their “mental health” are at a disservice by clinicians. As the next step to remedy that adverse brain event from treatment is - more treatment with stronger drugs. Catch 22 or Fait accompli by...x y z.

This poison really hurt me bad and they call it medicine. I was 16 when I was forced to take in 2003 it makes you gain sooo much weight and it’s not healthy as a child to gain weight young it can affect your metabolism when you’re older. It caused other dangerous side effects too I was having the worst diarrhea and was bedridden the first weak I took and and weeping in bed. I couldn’t read anything the doctors showed zero concern when I was in the hospital and wouldn’t let me out. It made me more crazy anyway and affected my personality made me feel like on being poisoned. It can affect white blood cells etc. it should be completely illegal. They are too busy going after pain management medication yes there’s an abuse epidemic going funny thing is lots of addicts are on antipsychotic because they make you feel like garbage so they abuse pain meds from the pain the medication causes. I have early arthritis and I suspect it’s these heavy medications that helped it develop. I was in my 20s when I developed it. I haven’t been the same I have been wanting to get out of government mental health for a long time. They make it very hard with bad care. If you’re poor and have emotional problems garbage antipsychotic medication is what they try to put you on. There’s a better alternative but the government doesn’t make money off it so patients suffer. I am not even a schizophrenic and I was put on this stuff

It works well to counteract the weight gain and Diabetes Type 2 caused by Olanzapine/Zyprexa and Clozapine and it also has anti aging properties. However, since it is not an expensive, profitable drug it may not be popular in countries where Big Pharma calls the shots.
