I saw him at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles probably 10 or more years ago. I was sick with a terrible cold but by the time the concert was over I totally forgot I was sick. I’m so sad today. I miss him so much but his music lives forever and aren’t we so lucky
It was in the early 50's that I first heard him on a jukebox Ina pizza restaurant my friends mother owned. The song was Because of You, then Rags to Riches ! I have his 50 year album . Saw him twice in person , so glad he lived !
The strangest thing about this whole performance is that I was a very young child when Tony Bennett began singing his music. My mother and father loved him. I personally only knew his name. Tony Bennett. Today decades later I am listening to Tony Bennett because Tony Bennett is just a phenomenal singer. He is an act that just never dies out 🕊️🦋🌟🌟🌟
I'v e been to many concerts in my time BUT one that always stands out is when I saw Tony Bennett in concert at The Majestic Theater in San Antonio. He said, "Don't ever let anyone tear thiw theater down and put up a parking lot." The then asked the sound man to cut off his microphone and the piano microphone and then he filled the auditorijm with his voice.. I will never forget that ...Tony Bennett has left us but is music will live on forever...
Im 49 now and first sang to my Grandad, a professional singer, when I was 15 and had the courage to sing this and I Left My Heart In San Fransisco. I had the pleasure of seeing Mr Bennett in Manchester UK in 2004-2005 and also in Vegas in 2000. Reduced me to tears both times. In Vegas I went to have a meal in the Mandalay Bay late after the concert and he was there with about 20 people in a corner celebrating. I got to chat to him for about 15 minutes and was just in awe. I will never forget it. A completely classy gentlemen. Old school, manners, impeccably dressed and just a lovely person to speak to. I sat with him and had a glass of wine and conversation uninterrupted and I will never forget it. RIP sir.
I'm crying... I can't say nothing than... Heavenly. Tony is stunning, incredible, irreplaceable, unbeatable... He's the last crooner with us. He is unique.. He put all his heart in every single note, in every single word, in every single breath. The best. He's got an Italian heart just like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. That's not a case. They were the best. It's so sad that today's music and musician doesn't remember these giants... I was born definitely in the wrong age. Love to Tony, love to the real good old music that can bring you a tear and a smile❤️
The Greatest Performance of one of the Most Powerful Songs ever written. Michelle Legrand music written, Bergmans on the words. Mike Renzi killing it on Piano. This should be an all-time pegged video for Tube.
Every day the world experiences sad passings. At this time it’s truly a tragic loss in one of the best performers of our history. May He rest in peace..forever will be missed
seen the great Tony Bennett perform this song twice live in person .....where he finished without the microphone .....truly memorable .....a moment i'll never forget
Thank you, Tony, for making our lives livable and our loves lovable with your beautiful voice and music. You were the ultimate mensch. May you rest in peace. You’ll be missed by all.
Meraviglioso , toccante, crooner e musica immortali !!!!!!!! Non ci sono parole per descrivere l'emozione che provoca questa voce fantastica e questa musica che accarezza l'anima.
Gosh, it's a song that touches my heart every time, and leaves me in tears 😭 as some of us.we just never get it right 💯 and the music does die. Excellent song performed by an amazing artist known as Tony Bennett❤❤
Nearing ten thousand "views" I see. Deepest thanks, "marcelo ferrari de almeida camargo" for sharing this visually stunning rendition of one of Tony Bennett's signature songs -- his show closer, here in Winnipeg Canada: Incidentally, that looks just like our Centennial Concert Hall which seats over a thousand -- where on that special night, Tony conspicuously put down his mic and sang this one 'unplugged.' Minutes later I caught up with his Caddy SUV outside our finest hotel; as he emerged from the limo, accompanied by his daughter, I said: "Mr. Bennett - that wasn't merely the best performance by an 83-year-old that I could imagine -- that was the finest performance by anyone that I have ever seen!" He smiled and offered his hand (warm but fragile I remember, like my grandpa's). He paused and said, "Really?" I offered my copy of his autobiography THE GOOD LIFE -- telling him as he inscribed the inside cover about how his description of his Dad (who died young of a heart disorder) "went straight to my heart." An assistant, a young blonde man had offered his Sharpie pen, and Mr. Bennett said: "No, no, this deserves a better one" and removed from his jacket pocket a fine pen. "To Mark, Thank you very much, Tony Bennett." My wife, a life-long Tony Bennett fan, was waiting in our car nearby. Said my Irene: "Don't wash it. I want to shake the hand that shook Tony Bennett's hand." Thanks again, Marcelo. Shared this day at [search] " Great Melody, Great Lyric, Great Rendition, Songwriting Workshop, Harmony Central "
How do you keep the music playing? How do you make it last? How do you keep the song from fading too fast? How do you lose yourself to someone? And never lose your ways How do you not run out of new things to say? And since we're always changing How can it be the same? And tell me how year after year You're sure your heart will fall apart Each time you hear his name I know the way I feel for you It's now or never The more I love the more that i'm afraid That in your eyes I may not see forever.. Forever... If we can be the best of lovers Yet be the best of friends If we can try with everyday to make it better as it grows With any luck, then I suppose The music never ends The music The music never ends Never ends
Yes, absolutely incredible. He is a musical phenomenon. This very beautiful song, sung beautifully by this wonderfully talented and modest man, bears no comparison.
Found this track earlier thanks to a friend mentioning being present for it, and i have been stunned ever since, 9 times today. I knew tony was an amazing singer, noe I know why Sinatra thought he was the best.
Words fail. The Voice so perfectly matched to this song. No one ever did it better.
Sublime…greatness has passed. So thankful I saw him live numerous times.
