He didn't do it cause he *_lost,_* quite the opposite. He won, but had knowingly sacrificed the NPCs of that game, innocent lives, to achieve his victory. Also it wasn't just a game, but like some kind of virtual reality fight with Megatron. I don't actually know much since I literally just read the comic pages shown in the video. But like, could you imagine Optimus just gets super salty at some Xbox game & fucking shoots himself? XD
the complete story was that the Decepticons were trying to steal some kind of generator but to avoid collateral damage a kid suggested that the Autobots and Decepticons compete in his virtual reality game. the winner would get the generator but megatron added that the loser would be destroyed.
