I've never made jokes about Maria's death, Frost. Unlike other fans, I always thought it was sad because she was just an innocent girl who wanted to be happy and live her life but that opportunity was taken from her by selfish people. That's why when Sonic 3 comes out, I'm both looking forward and not looking forward to seeing Maria's death scene because on one hand, it'll be awesome to see the movies properly represent a pivetal piece of the game lore...but on the other hand I am not keen on seeing this twelve year old girl getting shot in live action. I just know its gonna be far more real, painful and visceral than in the games or Sonic X

It’s explained in the Gerald’s journal, he had to pawn off Emerl in the order for him to buy time to finish project shadow due to the government breathing down Gerald’s neck (pressuring him). He ordered Emerl to not absorb weapon data. However, the government gave the robot a Chaos Emerald, which caused him to go on a rampage and destroyed most of the ark. It’s also nice to see my favorite sonic character to make a return after 20 years of absence. Personally, I kind of see Emerl and Gemerl as separate characters, because their personalities are very different. Also, it’s possible that Emerl Could be the mystery character and could likely be brought back to life for several key reasons. Throughout the many trailers for shadow generations (ever since the teaser for dark beginnings) we don’t see Emerl in any of them. Sure, We see characters like Mephiles and Sonic as boss characters, but we don’t see the Gizoid well not yet at the very least. And since both sonic and shadow generations revolve around time travel, it’s possible that shadow could save Emerl (either setting him free if Black Doom takes control over him or pull him out before Eggman fired the final egg blaster). Plus, Gemerl would still happen, it’s just sonic and his friends need to find a substitute of the Chaos Emeralds for Emerl.
