    This thing is a piece of art itself and would look good in any kitchen. I did spend half of that money on a beer carbonation apparatus. It does not look fancy but been pumping out great carbonated water for years now. I pay 15 CAD to fill up the CO2 cylinder and lasts for about half a year.

    I have a soda stream, and I don't have to screw the bottle-up and manually control the CO2 with a lever as the soda stream does everything automatically and costs less: what is the point of spending more money for less functionality (other than the better look) ?

      One could say that for anything--why buy a Mercedes if a honda gets you to to the same point? I personally have limited counterspace and would like to display it on my bar cart--so aesthetics mattered to me. I found one on Ebay for $130 (open box) and it has met my needs. I also like how the handle/components that you work the machine with are not made of plastic but instead stainless steel.
      If I did have more counter space (an dI didnt find the deal on ebay) I too would have probably went witht he soda stream.

    Why millennials chose to do insane things like this? For that price one could buy a lifetime's supply of Topo Chico.

    • @zionlion02
      @zionlion02 4 года назад +14

      I get the idea of not needing a design version vs a soda stream. But I think buying all those topo Chico is missing the point. Doing this yourself saves money, creates less waste, and you're using already existing municipal water sources vs stealing it from local populations water tables. I'm not a millennial and don't mean this as an attack on your comment. Just adding insight and don't really think it's a millennial thing.

      @@zionlion02
      Saves money? Did you look up the prices? The hardware by itself is $300. The CO2 refills alone will cost more than Top Chico. I used TC as an example; you can find much cheaper brands. All the big soda manufacturers have carbonated water, which in itself seem to be another millennial fad.
      Municipal water is not "existing". It has to be "produced" (by treating lake water). The amount that you drink is insignificant compared to the rest of your water consumption (shower, toilet, cooking, laundry, etc). You're not saving the planet.
      Maybe some specialty brands are truly bottling from spring water, but most of them are just filtered municipal water anyways.
      Bottom line; just drink tap water. If you want a carbonated water for a change, go get one from the supermarket.

      That's is precisely why I chose to use Topo Chico as an example. TP comes in glass bottles. I myself drink tap water. The added fluoride is good for my teeth. ;)
      The plastic waste is self inflicted by the millennials. So they come up with this stupid carbonation idea to fix another stupid idea (carrying water in plastic bottles everywhere they go)? No, you won't die if you don't drink water every 10 minutes.

    • @yodalf42

      @@itsm3th3b33 fair enough thanks for the explanation, I've never heard of TP before but it makes sense. As I said before, valid points.
