Was it only about contemporaries? 1) Did you see Harlem Nights? Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Redd Fox, Arsenio Hall 2) They literally stood there on SNL. ( Enjoyed every moment though)😁
“The Black Pack” I never knew they went by that but that’s beautiful, especially considering the classics they brought us. They would’ve been even more of a serious problem had it lasted just a bit longer.
Great video, just wasn't much said about Paul. Which I can understand as most his success is behind the scenes. But Paul Mooney wrote for Eddie and Richard Pryor's stand ups. He also wrote on In Living Color and the Chappelle Show, dude is a super legend. He's behind alot of the works we consider to be classic.
For your information the film "Tower Heist" was supposed to star Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, Tracy Morgan, Chris Tucker and Kevin Hart and the idea was pitched by Eddie but it never came through.
Chris Rock did this interview about Eddie personally casting him in a movie after seeing his stand up show in a comedy club. The interesting part of that interview was about Chris's experience being on the set of Boomerang. He said it was the first time he saw black people with money and holding positions of power. Eddie has always put unknown black comedians in his movies. Dave Chappell was in The Nutty Professor.
Here’s a Black Pack few movies... Harlem Night, LIFE, Boomerang these movies had (Eddie, Arsenio, Pryor, Redd Fox, Della Reese, Martin, Chris rock, Etha Kitt, grace Jones, Bernie Mack, David Allen Greer, John Witherspoon, etc) tons of black stars last and present!!!
With all this talent and money made, it’s a shame that Black Hollywood is separated. Why can’t we bring money together on this level and create something for Black creatives so they don’t have to wait for others to give them permission. I know there are platforms, but there should be one large platform. We don’t do well coming together.
Y'all need to go back and watch Townsends movie Hollywood Shuffle. It's basically about how Hollywood loves to make stereotypical movies about black people. Townsend telling the truth is probably why he didn't reach his full potential. I remember someone mentioned the Black Pack to Arsenio Hall while appearing on his show and Arsenio quickly chimed in that he was not a part of that.
I feel like the Original Kings of Comedy was also a group of strong black stand ups, who stuck together and found success as a team, and also as singles. Bernie, Ced, Steve Harvey, and D.L.
Yes, 'Harlem Nights'was the original OG Black Pack, and Eddie Murphy got all them together in one room/studio to work how genius was that. A real dream come true for him all the greatest comedy's of all time and for one last time R.I..P heaven is filled with laughter😆 and Paul Mooney just walk in just to straighten all of you up with jokes ok! 😅 🖤 LIFE AND LAUGHTER MATTERS PEOPLE PEACE&LOVE

*_Harlem Nights_* definitely was the collection of A-List Black entertainers PERIOD. Not just comedians. Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, Arsenio Hall, Della Reese, Robin Harris, Tommy Ford, Charlie Murphy, Jasmine Guy, and several others. On a side note, I'm not a fan of Tyler Perry stuff AT ALL, but I put mad respect on his name for building his own movie studio so that Black people don't have to rely on Hollywood to get movies done. It's too many Black millionaires and billionaires out there just sitting on money they'll never spend when they could be investing in movie studios, music studios, video-game studios, animation studios, etc. At least he and a few others are trying to do _something._
Redd Foxx had all of his friends on Sanford and Son. he gave them work when they were down and out. And when i say the word friends it truly applies here. The chitlin circuit, stymie beard, skillet and leroy and many others.
Imagine if Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker, Bernie Mac , Dave Chappelle , Katt Williams & Chris Rock had been in that Black Pack as well and stuck together...they would be like the Wu Tang Clan of Stand Up Comedy
Nigga's cant even get along much less join forces. This little moment in time was basically a miracle in itself. Eddie seems to value friendship while he was coming up but those guys took his generosity and ran with it instead of building and continuing

1) Did you see Harlem Nights? Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Redd Fox, Arsenio Hall
2) They literally stood there on SNL.
Harlem Nights is the best blk comedian collaboration movie of all time
For your information the film "Tower Heist" was supposed to star Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, Tracy Morgan, Chris Tucker and Kevin Hart and the idea was pitched by Eddie but it never came through.
Kevin Hart is not funny...🙄😒
All that mattered was that they were successful and friends.
Off and on....Eddie, Keenan and Robert yes but even they had their issues.
This mans hand gestures got dying over here 🤣 😂
All of them are Heavyweights 🔥
C/H killing the mini docs and interviews... keep up the good work
Does Kevin actually put Pcb in his movies though
Choosing violence, I see 🤣🤣
I had to pause the vid to look at the picture to see if I recognized them from any movies. No I did not lol smh.
NO
She’s Gotta Have it and Hollywood Shuffle in my view released one year apart deserve credit for the black film renaissance.
They could have changed the comedy game in Hollywood forever. . .😮🤔🤩
Here’s a Black Pack few movies... Harlem Night, LIFE, Boomerang these movies had (Eddie, Arsenio, Pryor, Redd Fox, Della Reese, Martin, Chris rock, Etha Kitt, grace Jones, Bernie Mack, David Allen Greer, John Witherspoon, etc) tons of black stars last and present!!!
Need more of this. The success of all of them is impressive.
Excellent!!! My, how y’all grown!!! K-Rob, like your energy and tone during this video! Great content!!!
Good job young man. Keep going!
With all this talent and money made, it’s a shame that Black Hollywood is separated. Why can’t we bring money together on this level and create something for Black creatives so they don’t have to wait for others to give them permission. I know there are platforms, but there should be one large platform. We don’t do well coming together.
Fantastic commentary Kevin. Extremely informative & historical delightful. 5 star. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I'm glad Comedy Hype is shining a light on the Black Pack.
I feel like the Original Kings of Comedy was also a group of strong black stand ups, who stuck together and found success as a team, and also as singles. Bernie, Ced, Steve Harvey, and D.L.
Great information, but dude almost chopped me through the screen 🤣
I like this young brother energy
I actually met Robert Townsend once at my church years ago,he attended a service
And?!?
They call it the willie lynch effect ‼️💯💯💯💯
The thumbnail alone is so damn legendary.
Yes, 'Harlem Nights'was the
original OG Black Pack, and
Eddie Murphy got all them
together in one room/studio
to work how genius was that.
A real dream come true for him
all the greatest comedy's of all
time and for one last time R.I..P
heaven is filled with laughter😆
and Paul Mooney just walk in
just to straighten all of you up
with jokes ok! 😅 🖤 LIFE AND
LAUGHTER MATTERS PEOPLE
PEACE&LOVE
Dont forget about Robet Townsends "partners in crime: It Feature Damon Wayans and Paul mooney as well as a few others. I didn't know peewee Herman was a part of their crew that's pretty cool
Beautiful presentation and informative. 💪🏾💪🏾
Give The Black Pack their flowers 🌹💪😎
His cousin Ray Ray Eddie tha Realest Hilarious
Mooney wrote for Richard Pryor it was an honor for them to be with him
I can tell the world that I knew Paul Moody our first met Paul at soulbeat generic cable channel owned by the late Chuck Johnson and I was on stage with Paul at the Black Repertory Theater in Berkeley California I asked him about Richard Pryor he told me he did not want to talk about Richard Pryor now I know why
Great History, Great Show, Superb Host......Thank You.
Very interesting .. Thanks for sharing. You did a great job❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏾🥰💯
momma's cooking 🍳
Great video! Now if only blacks could come together in whatever industry they in & do the same.
It starts with you
Redd Foxx had all of his friends on Sanford and Son. he gave them work when they were down and out. And when i say the word friends it truly applies here. The chitlin circuit, stymie beard, skillet and leroy and many others.
Thank you for the GREAT information..... You did a beautiful job with the breakdown.
@@JSmoothSoul yeah true I mean Steve Harvey sold Bernie Mac
Great vid.
But is it just me or anyone else feel like the tone and energy of this brother's voice didn't match how animated his body movement was going?
Dude is a great fucking host ........I’m high as fuck and drunk and he did not get boring at all ....great energy !!!!!!!
Loving the speaker pretty good 😌
WOW ! Great information to learn..Great brake down on your behalf toward each person ...
