In this clip we take a look at the spinnig jump in the kata Kanku Sho, and how we can use it if we don't believe the stuff about jumping over one attack while blocking another...
Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
Thanks for taknig the time to comment. I only hope that more martial artists like yourself are inspired to continue the search for meaning within their art
Indeed! No reason why it can't be that one. The point is to share something other than jumping over bo staff etc. Thanks for your support.
The best (and practical) explanation of the jump/throw I found! Thank you! Oss!
Hi john
I prefer the interpretation that you start facing your opponent and the move is about maneuvering around your opponent, buckling the knee with the crescent kick and then performing what Funakoshi called ude wa (what is essentially a rugby tackle) from behind to knock your opponent forward. Anyway thanks for the video, it is always a please to see what you come up with each week. Cheers Tom
Sensei John, your bunkai is fantastic. I always knew that was something missing on the "original" bunkai, for every kata. Now I am filling those gaps. I am finding your information very important to improve my Karate. Thank you very much and keep your amazing work!
thank YOU for taking the time to video and share!
As always, I appreciate your support.
;-) I'm bringing out "Kata & Application Gojushiho Dai" in September as a DVD and download. I will definitely offer a taster as a free Bunkai Strategies clip. You can already find the "pointy fingers (ippon nukite) application amongst my clips.
best bunkai I've seen for this move so far (y) good job guys
Well done, sensei. Have seen this in a similar Interpretation, but this is outstanding and well explained. You have my respect, osu
Hi John
can you please explore the Gojushiho Dai Kata and add bunkai strategies to it if possible
After the kick it make more sense to pull the opponent down on his back and not to twist again and pull him over the hip. shorter. I think the Bunkai is nice but connected only in some part to the Kata. Thank you for sharing.
