  • Steve suggested we try the ‎@hairybikers recipe for Norfolk Dumplings
I like the idea of no fat dumplings but I was a little sceptical .
These fluffed up so well ..I was very pleasantly surprised at that .
But of course the big question is how we're they ?
    Well watch and see

Just looking it up and it says the word dumpling was born in Norfolk at the beginning of the 17th century. It also says in the recipe that it uses yeast.

Not in the Hairy Bikers Book it doesn't use yeast . The recipe is as I made it

As a 54yr old Norfolk man I can assure you that people in Norfolk DO NOT make dumplings like that!
Self-raising flour, suet, a pinch of salt and good shake of some mixed dried herbs plus water then cooked in the stew is how everyone I know makes their dumplings.
To quote old Bernard..... They're BOOTIFUL 😂

That's how most people make them but I like to try different things from time to time . These wereas it says from The Hairy Bikers , if they call them Norfolk Dumplings I'm not going to argue but one thing for sure i won't be making them again 😂😂

Unlike my parents and brother I was born in Norfolk. My mum always called me her Norfolk Dumpling. 😀. Norfolk always has a place in my heart. Off to next door county Suffolk tomorrow to help out with family. My wonderful brother in law’s wife has had a shoulder replacement. I love her dearly and call her my sister of the heart. She is one special lady. X❤
      X❤.
