@@The_WIll_OF_D99 SF5 naturally caters to the offensively minded player. USF4 caters to all styles (my style being defensive) and gives all characters tools to win according to the player's preference. Then, there are options that the player has: do they want to spend meter to get out and reset the situation with FADC cancel or do they want to save it for a super? The game expects you to play a character the way they were created to play and apart from a lucky round here and there you won't win if you don't. Prime example: I hated Makoto until I saw Boomcube play her in TN. Then I realized that my problem was that I was trying to play her like a normal character when she's not. She's 100% offense and her MO is to slowly walk until the opponent is open for a tenth of a second, dash in, and there goes 1/3 of their health and the opponent is afraid of being stunned.... but you have to know how to properly execute her strengths. Guile (my main) on the other hand keeps you at bay and doesn't have flashy tools but if you know which button to push when and why then the opponent won't be able to get in, they'll get frustrated, and start making more mistakes. Someone could argue that this, to a degree, is in SF5, but the meta does not demand it. In SF5 all you have to do is stand next to your opponent and they are now in a 50/50 mixup just for being close. No matter how skilled, the player now has to guess and if they guess wrong they can lose a third of their health. I likened SF4 to chess and SF5 to poker. After a loss in SF4 I could ask, "Why did I lose?" go to training and work on execution, awareness, etc. The more I worked on it the better I got and I won more. In SF5 for a good year and a half I asked, "What did I do wrong?" and nothing. The answer was to guess better the next time. I don't like that. I think that the more I work on something the more I should be rewarded for the time I spend with it. Tekken 7 follows that motto, DBFZ follows that motto. SF5 doesn't. SF5 doesn't reward execution and knowledge of the game's meta. It rewards taking risks, which are not tangibly measured. So someone can practice for five hours and lose to someone who practiced one. SF5 just isn't my cup of tea.

Been going through an USFIV vod binge and was so excited to see this grand finals match between two of my favorite players only to be greeted by this horrible commentary. I truly be taking James Chen for granted

4 years and I still come back to this match and the match they had in 2016 are examples of NA having a dominant presence in the scene as opposed to many other competitive genres where NA just utterly fails to perform.
I love how despite using a controller and a mid to low tier character, Smug still pulls off amazing things against the sweatier pro players who only pick the top tier characters.
Go figure the most annoying and weakest commentator is Gllty. Almost completely ruined these matches, I hope he never commentated any serious matches again.
poor seth. it's only piece of paper. that character should have been banned since a long time ago after crapcom nerfed him too far. even with poongko skill seth can't do much. sadly he is a good character though, specially with pants.
