Yesss, and also as an insomnia and knowing how Handong barely got lines at the beginning it was awesome to see she finally showcased her vocal skill, like she literally auditioned with a Taeyon song!
@@NoxNovakFor some wild reason, K-Pop fans hated Vision... same with OOTD. Really, the whole apocalypse series got shat on by the K-Pop community and even some of the fandom. Dreamcatcher's peak popularity songs outside of the fandom tend to be You & I, Boca, Deja Vu, and Odd Eye.
@@Nillofarsadeghi watch dreamcatcher’s “fly high” music video. it’s the prequel to their nightmare series. the following parts are: chase me, good night, you and i, what, piri and breaking out.
The thing about Chase Me being their debut song is that no one in Kpop was doing rock styled music, so the structure of the song eases you into that a little by not kicking off with the guitars immediately (needed to not scare people off right away) and then goes into a little brighter JRock style (and yes that was their intention so they did land it). With Good Night as the followup, their guitar JRock sound has been established so they were able to kick right off with it and leaned into a darker version a bit. I wish someone would edit the Kprofiles to indicate that the nightmares are just for their starting Nightmare series of 7 videos. Also, I can't say I've ever heard them use their English names once other than just mentioning them when discussing what they would want their English names to, some of which influenced by them watching Friends... Monica... Rachel...
My thoughts exactly! In a way, Chase Me was the company testing the waters to see how the public would respond. It was never done before and even the girls were not sure if it would work out. So glad they did though because coming from someone who isn’t a huge fan of “general k-pop”, Dreamcatcher submerged me into the genre and other groups who like to play with a mixology of genres in kpop.
I love that both of you brought up those feelings of nostalgia because that’s exactly how I felt when I first started listening to Dreamcatcher. To quote someone else, “Dreamcatcher is basically all of the music I used to listen to growing up mixed with the stuff I’m into now”
Wow, that quote really is such a great way to put it. It really does describe how and why I pretty much really liked every Dreamcatcher song that would come up while streaming random kpop. Weeks later, became InSomnia.
Somehow I relate to this and this describes my first encounter with them even though I was much younger at the time 😆 Nostalgia even if I shouldn't be having nostalgia yet 😭
I took a quick glance and didn't see your question at 3:20 answered: Dreamcatcher began their life as Minx (under Happyface Entertainment), a 5 member group with a cute, pop sound. They were completely drowned out because the rest of Kpop was doing the exact same thing. The group went on hiatus, added two members, and re-debuted as Dreamcatcher with the horror/metal/rock aesthetic that was unique at the time. They slowly fought their way out of obscurity, and Happyface became Dreamcatcher Company.
The nightmares mentioned in the profiles are not their actual fears, rather the nightmares they represent in their story "Nightmare" The Nightmare storyline stretches from their debut "Chase Me" to "Piri" with and alternative ending to the story in their Japanese release "Breaking Out". The other songs are also in stories, with Deja Vu being self contained, and the other two being part of different trilogies. Boca being the second entry into the Dystopian trilogy (Order: Scream > Boca > Odd Eye) VISION being the second entry into the Apocalypse trilogy (Order: Maison > Vision > Bonvoyage)
37:30 fun fact: Rolling Quartz (Korean rock band) made a cover of Good Night and they added a guitar solo in that part. If u enjoyed Dreamcatcher u might like Rolling Quartz
Ugh vision is so underappreciated among DC titles, and it's in my top 3! Really makes me happy when people appreciate how good it is, since not a lot of people, not even a lot of InSomnias are a fan of that typa sound. The dark synth-rock combo is just too cool it always feels like I'm in a cyberpunk battle with robots every time I listen to it. 😂
In Deja Vu have you noticed it starts in a minor key, changes to a major, then changes to a different major that is relative to the original minor so they can seamlessly circle back around to it, for someDeja Vuuu. Dreamcatcher vocals are top shelf they put them to good use in dozens of mid-tempo vibe songs and ballads on all their albums. Main is the top person, Leads are really good at that thing too and share the load so the main doesn't get overstressed. Edit: Evidence of Dreamcatcher vocals, their song Jazz Bar with a live band ruclips.net/video/oIiNfCwj1YI/видео.htmlsi=evUdjkLWz8ohH2-i.
BOCA is the most popular dreamcatcher song. Chase Me is their debut from 2017 and they definitely were more heavily leaning on their j-rock base at the beginning. Goodnight was their second single and I agree it really feels like they settled into their sound a bit more... I think by the time they had their 4th single they had developed a more personal "dreamcatcher sound." Many people consider 'Deja Vu' a masterpiece, and I think the video and story are more cohesive because it's a crossover with a game (they later do an anime opening for the games anime in one of their Japanese albums). Vision is the most recent song on this list from fall of 2022. They do have the rock fandom phenomenon where every single new album there are inevitably fans who complain about how they've lost their sound and it's not dreamcatcher anymore though
Just to clear up any confusion you may have about positions... Leads and main are different in kpop. The 'Main' is basically what we'd a call the lead, and vise versa. I.e., a main vocalist in kpop would be considered the lead vocal in the west. There's usually one main in each category, vocal, rapper and dancer, but there can be multiple leads in each category. So, basically, it would go main vocalist, lead vocalist, vocalist and sub-vocalist. Now that you understand all that, one thing to know is that Dreamcatcher Company hasn't updated their positions in years. Handong and Gahyeon are both listed as sub-vocalists but they've both improved quite a bit over the last few years. I think it would be safe to say that they should have been bumped up to vocalist by now. Another point of interest is that Chase Me was actually their debut song which would explain why you might feel it's their weakest song. And yes, it was as well as much of their earlier stuff is influenced by j-rock. The owner of the company was a very big fan of j-rock and he wanted to incorporate it in their songs. As for the 'it sounds like an anime opening', you're not alone. A lot of people say the same thing. As for what is Dreamcatcher's genre, the common response, from anyone who knows, will be 'Dreamcatcher'. They are super unique and they've pretty much created their own genre. Nobody does it quite like Dreamcatcher.
Can anyone explain what the difference between a 'lead vocalist' and just a 'vocalist' is? I assumed it was the same as sub vocalist, but obviously sua, gahyun and handong rank higher than that now. So would they be considered as leads? Honestly I find the whole position thing stupid, the only positions I think are relevant are leader, maknae and the main positions of each category especially since Dreamcatcher is such a well rounded group.
@@confusiyeon Starting at the top, it goes... Main Lead 'position' (i.e. vocalist, rapper, etc) sub- You are right, in some cases. It seems that in some cases, depending on the company I guess, sub is the same as 'position', as in a sub-vocalist is at the same level as vocalist. As for Dreamcatcher positions, I think SuA could be considered the third lead vocalist, along with Yoohyeon and JiU. Handong and Gahyun could be considered as vocalists. I, personally, don't think they've quite reached the level of lead vocalist yet.
Definitely react to: -FLY HIGH (Which is the prequel to Chase Me and Goodnight - the origin) -YOU & I -WHAT -PIRI And I would also suggest Dystopia trilogy: -SCREAM (track before BOCA) -ODD EYE (track after BOCA) Apocalypse trilogy: -MAISON (track before VISION) -BONVOYAGE (Track after VISION
Great reaction, thank you. Dreamcatcher has always made title tracks that has rock/metal. Chace Me is their debut son released on January 13 (friday)2017, Good Night 2017, Deja Vu 2019, BOCA 2020, Vision 2022. Glad you liked Dreamcatcher.
Dreamcatcher was the group that dethroned 2NE1 and Girls' Generation for the #1 spot, for me, after I discovered them during the pandemic. I hope someone requests Taeyeon's INVU album (IMO, the album of the year when it was released).
Finally, someone who understands KPop is an industry, not a genre. Thank you Kazinho. And really appreciate the thoughtful reactions -- and especially that you let the songs run all the way thru before commenting! I have one criticism: There are certain KPop videos (by no means all, but way more than you'd expect) that need to be seen in their entirety -- music, story line, videography, costuming, set design, acting, makeup, etc. I thought your focus on the music caused you to miss the intensely powerful visual story line in Chase Me (not to mention the brilliant acting of the male lead), which imnsho redeems any musical weaknesses and then some. You also missed the visual moment in Deja Vu, where Jiu, rather than taking Yoohyeon out, yields her sword -- only to be killed by the terminally ambitious Yoohyeon, who thereby destroys not just Jiu but herself. You did note how freaking awesome the Deja Vu video is -- which speaks volumes. Just saying there's a whole lot more there than mere visual appeal -- and that if you had appreciated the other dimensions more, you prob would have been forced to give it at least a 12. And as a DC fan, I can't help reminding you that Handong, who sang that beautiful "holding this pain" line in Deja Vu, is a "sub-vocalist."
DC originally started out as a GG called MINX who did the stereotypical bumblegum pop that a lot of GGs did at that time so they flopped because they failed to stick out in a oversaturated market. So instead of disbanding the group their company repackaged them with a new rock sound and unique style that they can call theirs, something that no one else did at the time. "Chase Me" was their first ever song so they were still looking for a signature sound while "Vision" was released last year and became their signature sound. While not as popular in Korea due to rock not being popular with the trend, DC grew a very large and loyal fanbase internationally so they do a lot of international tours especially in the US and Europe where a lot of their fanbase is. DC is a unique case of a small company finding success in a extremely difficult market where resources and connections are a must to survive. All while pioneering a rock sound. So the fandom is fiercely loyal to the group.
Deja Vu was made in association with a videogame conoany for the mobile game Kings Raid. It was later turned into an Anime and they sing the intro its called ECLIPSE (highly recommend) I recommend you guys listen to their Japanese side tracks aswell as listen to other songs

Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream). Boca has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song? "Chase me" was their debut, released on January 13th (a Friday), 2017. It must have been nerve-wrecking for the members, re-debuting with a genre that is not popular in Korea after Minx failed. (5 of them were Minx before, which failed.) But they already doubled their sales with this. And they stuck with the Rock/Metal vibe until today, now selling 50 times the albums than Minx did. This is the start of the Nightmare arc, which spans 6 MVs and 1 Japanese release. They are Nightmares here, and the Nightmare hunter is trying to dispel them - how that turns out is shown in the next one, Good Night. Good Night is one of their heavier releases, and I love it. The K-Rock girl group Rolling Quartz also did an excellent cover of it. The Nightmare hunter casts spells to trap the members, but they get the book from him and turn it against him, trapping him behind the mirror. The next song in the Nightmare arc, "Fly High", is from the album "Prequel", which is a strong hint to consider. 😉 That is also a very interesting song. Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions, while the abused find themselves in an endless Deja Vu. "Vision" is part 2 of the Apocalypse trilogy. I believe they are showing us the perspective from the future in this series, showing us how the earth looks like when we keep acting like we do. While "Maison" was talking about the destruction of the environment, here they seem to be talking about the destruction due to war. I don't know if that was the idea from the beginning, but Putin's aggression definitely played a role here. In one set they even dance in front of what looks sort of like a huge trident, which is the coat of arms of Ukraine (could be a coincidence though, or this is me seeing things). It is easy to see how the conflict in Ukraine could result in global destruction. It's just a push of a button away. Note that Dami presses a launch button, but it's not for nukes. It's for spreading their message, their vision. Peace. To be heard all around the world. The song is also a call for action, to stand together against aggressors and those who are destroying the planet out of greed. There is not much difference between someone leading an army or a corporation, if the result is destruction. Still, Dami said the intention is to resolve the problems in a peaceful way. So, what do we do? There is no easy answer. Dami has an outfit that shows that perfectly. One half is an innocent bridal dress, the other half is simply badass. What I know is that any aggressor only listens to very limited diplomacy, and they need to know that the good in the world is ready and willing to fight them if needed. Whoever the aggressor is, we are more than them. They need to know they will never succeed, the only option is peace. By the way, my interpretation could be completely wrong, any other theory is perfectly valid as well. Musically, it's heavier than Maison, and I feel it fits the subject matter very well. It sounds aggressive and heavy, but also soft and vulnerable. There is the duality again. And I love the fake keychange at the end of the chorus, the crazy bass and the guitar in the bridge. All in all this is a fantastic release!
Dreamcatcher is really a great girl group. Vocally and in terms of performance and stuff they are simply one of the best. You should listen to Dreamcatcher live because they are even better live
I think one of the may reasons their discography is so diverse is because the girls are incredibly talented, you can practically do whatever you want with them
Kpop is not a music genre in definition, agreed. I define it more as korean music industry. Many people thought that it's just a genre of pop music and don't want to listen to it, which I found unfortunate cause it's so much more than that What I loved about kpop is that it's a place of freedom and creativity in music. You can create the most batshit crazy song arrangement ever and can still find success in the industry. That's why you can also find new kinds of music/sound/arrangement that you never heard before and I loved them for it
Welcome to the dream world! We always suggest that people react to their songs in order, so yes that was on purpose. They have a storyline and messages, good ones. Like in Boca (mouth) the trilogy talks about hate on internet and bullying. You can see the line: why you waste your precious time with hate. Something like that. Rock and korea is not the best idea. They were risking ALL with chase me. They alredy disbanded and the company was trying again, maybe that's why chase me sounds a bit weird; they were introducing rock lements bit by bit. They got a big fandom outside of korea only. They had their very first win in 2022. Dreamcatcher's japanese songs are havier because rock is more commom for japan. I love J rock, but i am not a fan of their pop. Thank you or reacting to them and thank you Carlos. P.S. Deja Vu is a collab with a game
deja vu is my fav title track from them, but you GOTTA check out some of my others favs, "bonvoyage" (A MUST), "reason" (a complete banger that they released for they fans), "BEcause" (a little bit more pop, but i absolutely love it, inspired by the horror movie "US") and for the older ones my absolute favourite is "fly high" and then "you & i"
That's interesting! I don't really like to consume Kpop. But, I like 2ne1, it's the group that got me "into Kpop", and the only other group I actively follow, is Dreamcatcher. Also, they mention the nightmares in the profiles because their original concept was Nightmares, in fact the first like... 6? Title tracks are like a series, we call it "The nightmare series"
"They are not afraid to be like that" Ye... Kinda. It is like this now. But the girls had to tolerate too much sh1t. They debuted, they group disbanded... Then they (the agency) experimented to save the situation... And it worked (at the end). Those days were way too dark :/ But hey, we are here with them after all this years :D
Just to clarify a bit with the fandom name, InSomnia doesn't mean "insomnia" or lack of sleep. It's stylized in a way to distinguish the two words, the Latin word "somnia" here means "dream" so if you combine In and Dream, InSomnia basically means In a Dream. It's a fandom name that fits well with Dreamcatcher's overall dream concept throughout their discography. It's totally alright to first assume this since insomnia means lack of sleep after all if you never knew about the meaning. Also, we say Somnia to refer to actual Dreamcatcher fans, not the fandom name "InSomnia", and since it's a Latin word, the closest plural we could say for multiple Dreamcatcher fans is Somnies. Hope this helps, and btw welcome to the Dreamworld!
16:31 how did she get that one piece of hair to move, sheesh! They're so talented even their hair dances. I thought y'all were gonna be overly critical of Deja Vu, I am SO HAPPY you both gave it 10s, you've kept your credibility! 😅 Kazinho you've got that pokerface DOWN I had no idea you'd give VISION an 11! Actually VISION is in my top 3 as well. Thank you so much for checking out Dreamcatcher I hope you will delve more! Really curious what you'd think of OOTD & BONVOYAGE, those 2 are kind of polariszing in the fandom.
Even you guys, first time listeners, chose Deja Vu as their favorite song shows you the power of this song in the top spot or at most top 10 for many Insomnias. Chef's kiss.
In KPop, Lead Vocalist Singer/Rapper sings/raps first, snd Main usually carries the biggest/most lines singing/rapping, so a group might have several of each, with a couple of options for which Lead Vocal will handle which verse, etc... Dreamcatcher are pretty unique in KPop, in that they essentially run their company, and dictate their own careers. In an industry overwhelmingly ruled by men, this gives them the freedom to write what they actually want to express. Chase Me, Boca, other songs actually have a narrative about speaking up against abuse. Re: The metal thing... All members except for Handong @ Gahyeon were an earlier band named Minx, but this wasn't working (Living in the shadow of Twice's ascent, for instance...). Happyface told them to do whatever they had to to succeed, and they did. Sihyeon was a big fan of 80s Heavy Metal, and Warlock in particular (Female-fronted metal band), and she suggested that they shift from poppy music to Rock/Metal. I'm actually a big Death/Black Metal guy, btw... being a 54 year old musician, but Kpop has become a fave genre/umbrella of music in the last 5 years. DC are fantastic, and I hope that Kazinho looks deeper into their B-Sides, as they have a great catalog of songs. They aren't the biggest group, but they are one of my faves, and having seen them twice, I can say that they are fantastic live, as all 7 essentially the best vocal-line in all of KPop. They are also really sweet, and their fan interactions are very genuine.
I hope you react to another set of Dreamcatcher songs at some point. There is so much versatility when you dive deeper! Consider listening to BEcause, Jazz Bar, Demian, Rising, Black or White
Thanks guys for reacting to Dreamcatcher. I'm glad you enjoyed the song and the video but there's still more of it. I hope you can continue reacting to Dreamcatcher cause not only the title track, they have great b-sides and it consist of a different genre. Kazinho mentioned he likes black and white. Dreamcatcher got a song titled Black or White 😂 so please include that in your next reaction or maybe next next reaction after you finish all of the title track. Urgghhh I also want you to check out Endless Night cause it's a Japanese track and they go way harder for it. I don't know man, your call.
I'm also someone who doesn't like KPop, but I'm Dreamcatcher. the only group I follow and I always listen to their songs... and for some reason I'm not interested in other groups and don't want to know other kpop groups let alone boygroups.
Kpop group terminology: Main > Lead > Sub The number of main and lead vocalists depends highly on the number of members in the group. Most groups 7 or under will have only ONE main vocalist. This is usually obvious why they are the main after listening to a few songs. Dreamcatcher is a vocally strong group, so two leads and a main vocal is more about the vocal parts given in the songs and less about the vocal ability. Although Siyeon is Main vocal for a reason. In groups that have more members, sometimes there can be 2 main vocals.
Thanks for checking out Dreamcatcher 😊 I'm not really into girl groups & not really followed Dreamcatcher, but Boca & Vision are some of my favourites. Your comments & reactions are honest, no sugar coating & I like that. I also apreciate that you take the time to research some facts about the groups you're reacted to. You are 1 of my favourite reactors 🙂 Also, don't know if you already noticed, but kpop groups all have their own theme/concepts, & they stick to it for all things they do: songs, musics, MVs, even clothes & acessories. That's why you rarely see variations from the same group, cause they stick to the concepts. They also have storylines, different for each groups, & it can get really cofusing for people that don't follow that group.
It's so funny how any InSomnia will agree that Deja Vu is just it. You can never interact with other InSomnias and you will still have the same reaction to this song and agree that its incredible. This song has a emotional meaning attached for me, cuz I heard it during a hard time and I think I couldn't have heard a better song for that moment in my life. The "Holding my pain" part...that is what gets my heart warm everytime.
Dreamcatcher is just amazing, I recommend checking out their B-sides, solo tracks and other title tracks. They have a lot of videos for their B-sides. Some of my favorite B-sides: Demian,Propose, Shatter,Rising, July 7th, and Jazz bar.
The Heaven’s a Lie comparison was genius and makes so much sense! The other esoteric comparison I like to make is for Vision-that riff sounds like it’s straight out of a Rammstein song, turned cyberpunk.
I love your constructive and healthy criticisms and I actually agree to most of them. I cannot classify Dreamcatcher in kpop it just that their sound is a completely different area which really sold me. Their music will always be fresh sounding that's why I'm an Insomnia for life.
Their music is good, but their real strength are their live performances. Their songs are so energetic and the members are absolutely tireless. Even from fancams their concert vibes are unmatched, its chaotic, they somehow make it seem unfiltered (even though thats an impossibility in kpop) - its just the whole package. And they're so versatile too. Rock is a mainstay in their title tracks, but their b-sides vary from edm to ballads.
Im not even lying when I say this band is so much chaotic energy- if you guys havent already (Ima probably scroll through yalls reactions.) you guys should react to insominicy's videos "This is" playlist, they basically introduce dreamcatchers at their very core of their personality and just for a moment, imagine all these serious girls in these videos, chasing each other with rubber hammers... its hard to explain but i 100% reccomend them, they are like... the realest of real group.
DC is the best way to get non mainstream people into kpop imo. The blend of strong vocals and rock aethetics in some of their albums is more appealing than the mainstream pop style girl themes.
Carlos's recommendations were fantastic! It's hard to pick, for real, and he did terrific. I get why he added Chase Me-I personally love it, and it has the additional nostalgic element of being their first song as Dreamcatcher. I loved listening to your breakdown and commentary. You got the vision-no pun intended-whether or not the song clicked for you. Thank you for reacting to them!
dreamcatcher \:D/ the most diverse discography in music! almost no two of their songs sound alike which is a lot more than I can say for, sorry, current gen kpop. you only heard their more rockish title tracks. most of their songs are actually non-rock and maybe more to your preference, more 'cohesive'. personally after listening to dreamcatcher long enough, I love their more dynamic songs but I know for western ears it can be jarring. they are also old school and sing sing... a lot of current gen kpop is more oriented in presentation with live vocals a lot to be desired. korea just isn't into rock so that's why nearly all of their fans are actually outside korea.
Supposedly the main one, is the "best one" and the one that has more focus regarding that role and then it goes like this: Main, Lead, --------, sub. Example: Main vocalist (best), lead vocalist (excellent), vocalist (good/great), sub vocalist (good enough)
In fact, Kpop is not a musical genre, it's an industry. There is no specific musical genre to find among the artists who belong to this industry, because it is nourished by many styles, genres and fashions. Kpop refers more to the training model that artists receive, to be a Kpop artist you have to be in idol, which implies that you have a training in singing, acting, languages, conducting programs, music, dance and higher studies specialized in art. On top of that, you are expected to be a role model for young people, something that has been disjointed over time because it is impossible to be as perfect as Korean culture demands.
Such a fun reaction! Love hearimg your opinions, some that I've never heard before especially. I absolutely recommend Scream, Bon Voyage and BEcause!!! My fave dreamcatcher title tracks! Odd Eye is a must watch too
I love Dreamcatcher's title and other tracks, too. I listen to Dreamcatcher's songs every day. Dejavu is one of the best songs of my life and I'm making my comeback in July😊
Alright, time for my obsession with these girls to shine! They're my favorite kpop group of all time and are truly the reason I got into kpop to begin with. 1) 5 of them (so everyone but Handong ans Gahyeon) debuted as MinX in 2014 initially under Happy Face Entertainment. They didn't get a lot of traction, so the company redebuted the girls along with the other two in 2017. Happy face did eventually rebrand as Dreamcatcher Company after their international success. They're not super popular in korea, and their first award didn't happen until Maison in 2022. You mentioned the international success later, but there's the full story. 2) Not related to the group, but maknae means they're the youngest. Kprofiles tends to put them in age order, hence why theyre last in the member list. 3) The nightmare thing has to do with their first series of mini albums, which is called the nightmare series. 4) Boca occurred significantly later than Chase Me, and it was in a different series albums. Chase Me was their debut title track, and it marked the significant genre shift from what MinX was doing to what Dreamcatcher became. Totally understand the opinions between the two. The mixing got way better as time went on. 5) Especially for 2017, having the rock sound and the horror concept consistently for a girl group set them apart and made the very unique for Kpop. A lot of their influence came from Jrock stuff for sure. 6) Good Night was the follow up to chase me, obviously. 7) Deja Vu came after the nightmare series entirely. It was actually done in collaboration with kings raid for their mobile game. They later did a track for their anime too! 8) I highly recommend checking out some of their b-sides. They aren't afraid of trying other genres. Silent night, jazz bar, demian, propose, and there was no one left, and 괜찮아! (I can't remember the English title, but the translation is "its okay") are some of my favorites. 9) There's a few other title tracks I'd love to see y'all's reaction to: bon voyage, scream, piri (I found them around the time that was released), ootd, justice, reason, and endless night are some of them! 10) finally, their live performances are phenomenal. It is very obvious they do things live, and their stability while dancing is astounding.
Great reaction and breakdowns. The two songs that brought me into Dreamcatcher are Good Night and What (which you did not respond to). My favorite song is Deja Vu.
Love groups that go dark. Dreamcatcher has so many amazing songs. If you like Dreamcatcher, you may enjoy: PIXY -- notable MVs: Wings (Debut), The Moon, Addicted, Bewtiched (English Ver MV!), Villian, and Karma
To clarify, the 'Main' position is given to the member who is best suited on that role, i.e. the main vocalist usually gets to sing the most high note parts. The 'lead' position is given to the member who is good at that role, i.e. the lead vocal member will get whole singling lines or even ad-lib. There can be multiple leads for the same position. The 'sub-' position is given to members who assists in some parts of the song, i.e. the sub-vocals might not get a full line to sing, but they can sing accompaniment or ending line, etc. to help creating interesting sounds. All of this is not indicative of their total skills since they can improve over time or develop new skills throughout their career.
And to add in som groups like dreamcatcher the lines between these positions are quite blurry, so it's fun to know but nothing to take all to seriously
I wouldn't consider Handong a sub-vocalist anymore tho. I'd say she's atleast leveled up to vocalist. I think she has outgrown that 'sub' title a while ago.
Took a proper look at your channel and goddamn I see you haven't fallen in the bts trap, as a lot of k-pop reactors have. Thanks a lot for that! The fact that you've reacted to Dreamcatcher means so much omg Pls react to ATEEZ! I regard them as kinda brothers to Dreamcatcher haha Their producers worked at Dreamcatcher's songs and vise versa + ATEEZ have a great storyline, songs, and visuals - starting with their debut, same as our witches :) Pls react to the Pirate King (the debut song), Inception, The Real, Guerilla, Halazia
InSomnia will agree ( mostly ) that Deja Vu is Dreamcatcher's Holy Grail. So good that thy actually struggled to find cons 😅
🐶
To me it's bon voyage.
Odd eye won on their subreddit fanvote. Personally I've been flip flopping between the two for years, but I'm on the deja vu side for now.
Odd Eye and BEcause had me struggling to pick but Scream and Red Sun is not far behind though
We also have to thank the makers of King's Road, who funded this mv (often those collabs with different companies mean higher budgets.)
You can't avoid how beautiful Handong's "Holding this pain" line even for the 1st listen ❤
Yesss, and also as an insomnia and knowing how Handong barely got lines at the beginning it was awesome to see she finally showcased her vocal skill, like she literally auditioned with a Taeyon song!
Dreamcatcher: 1 Main Vocalist, 6 other Main Vocalists
Come for the talent. Stay for the Chaos.
Perfectly put
who is dreamcatchers main vocalist.. the answer starts with.. WELL xD
Well the answer is Siyeon. But.. the rest are yeah, amazing.
so glad vision is being appreciated😭 that song rattles your bones live it is SO good and under appreciated
oh, is it underappreciated? My favorute Deukae songs are: Boca, Vision, Maison, OOTD, Propose, Shatter, Demian. I can't pick just one :')
No way, VISION is underrated?? It's the whole reason why I became a stan in the first place!
@@killbethy yea I don't feel like vision was hated tho, it was just kinda ignored tbh. Maison def had haters lol
vision was my favourite in the trilogy and i was devastated that they didn't perform it when i saw them live lol
“I was expecting fear of spiders” oh boy I have a story to tell you
Those who know: 😬
I don't get it
@@Nillofarsadeghi watch dreamcatcher’s “fly high” music video. it’s the prequel to their nightmare series. the following parts are: chase me, good night, you and i, what, piri and breaking out.
@@Nillofarsadeghi They have a song called "The Curse of the Spider"
@@Nillofarsadeghi They are trapped in their nightmares due to one member killing a spider.
Somehow I relate to this and this describes my first encounter with them even though I was much younger at the time 😆
Nostalgia even if I shouldn't be having nostalgia yet 😭
Deja Vu is the song that get better everytime you hear it. A lot of hidden stuffs go on that track we almost can't figure out in one listen.
Wow totally not expecting Dreamcatcher. Thank you for reacting!
Thank you Carlos! 🫶🏻
The nightmares mentioned in the profiles are not their actual fears, rather the nightmares they represent in their story "Nightmare"
The Nightmare storyline stretches from their debut "Chase Me" to "Piri" with and alternative ending to the story in their Japanese release "Breaking Out".
The other songs are also in stories, with Deja Vu being self contained, and the other two being part of different trilogies.
Boca being the second entry into the Dystopian trilogy (Order: Scream > Boca > Odd Eye)
VISION being the second entry into the Apocalypse trilogy (Order: Maison > Vision > Bonvoyage)
Yeah.. those nightmare things r not their nightmares , they’re the nightmares. 😅
@@TheJerryfu63 oh yes, they really know how to haunt your dreams... 😅
This misconception will be repeated, and never go away.
This. I wasn't sure they got it, but then they read "the fear of being looked at etc" and then responded with "But you're an idol" lol
We need to change Dami’s to “fear of pineapples”
37:30 fun fact: Rolling Quartz (Korean rock band) made a cover of Good Night and they added a guitar solo in that part.
If u enjoyed Dreamcatcher u might like Rolling Quartz
Rolling Quartz did a very good job.
I really liked Vision too especially when it just came out. So I got quite confused why the others didn't like it 😅
Not including "odd eye" and "scream" here is a CRIME
EXACTLY
Bon voyage imo is a pretty vocally strong song i hope yall react to it soon
I'm sure they didn't. Most of these reactors have no clue what they're talking about. And the word "transition" gets used 5,000 times.
Y'all will agree, Dreamcatcher is a genre in kpop
Nobody does it quite like Dreamcatcher.
the best way to differentiate main vs lead is that main takes the more strenuous vocal/rap/dance parts.
@@confusiyeon
Starting at the top, it goes...
Main
Lead
'position' (i.e. vocalist, rapper, etc)
sub-
You are right, in some cases.
I, personally, don't think they've quite reached the level of lead vocalist yet.
they gonna like odd eye, bon voyage and japanese tracks and maybe they can try bside like black or white, sahara and wind blows.
Odd Eye or Scream will probably be their first 13.
I don’t know if they will react to deukae again
@robbg6928 Odd eye is a great song I still can't believe I witnessed that comeback lol
My compliments to the InSomnia who picked such epic DC tracks! Great reactions! Loved hearing your opinions and hope for more for Dreamcatcher! 🎉
Definitely react to:
-FLY HIGH (Which is the prequel to Chase Me and Goodnight - the origin)
-YOU & I
-WHAT
-PIRI
And I would also suggest
Dystopia trilogy:
-SCREAM (track before BOCA)
-ODD EYE (track after BOCA)
Apocalypse trilogy:
-MAISON (track before VISION)
-BONVOYAGE (Track after VISION
You and I, Scream, Odd Eye, Maison, and Bonvoyage in the queue
if you want more power... endlessnight, Breaking Out, Silent Night. / No more, Eclipse, Don't light my fire. some of there are japanes version
Don’t forget, R.oS.E. Blue and BEcause
Scream please!! 😂
Dreamcatcher is a group full of freaking good songs, even their b-track, their solo. It's so good
These tracks are from different albums yes. Their discography is really diverse so much talent in this group and their company. I love DC so much
This is Dreamcatcher genre🔥
It was later turned into an Anime and they sing the intro its called ECLIPSE (highly recommend)
I recommend you guys listen to their Japanese side tracks aswell as listen to other songs
they should've pick You and I, song and mv wise it's one of the best along with Deja Vu
Same with Bon voyage ngl
We can make the list longer lolololol
There's so many good songs in DC😂 so they should listen to all DC songs ahahhaah
You and I, Scream, Odd eye, Maison and Bonvoyage in the queue
Who is the girl in your pfp? Is she from fromis_9?
fr deja vu is an insane track. from the mv, the vocals, the choreography just everything. im stunned every time i watch the mv 🥹

Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream).
I think one of the may reasons their discography is so diverse is because the girls are incredibly talented, you can practically do whatever you want with them
well you guys are not wrong DejaVu is known as the "Pretty Sister" of the MV in the fandom lol
Kpop is not a music genre in definition, agreed. I define it more as korean music industry.
Many people thought that it's just a genre of pop music and don't want to listen to it,
which I found unfortunate cause it's so much more than that
What I loved about kpop is that it's a place of freedom and creativity in music. You can create
the most batshit crazy song arrangement ever and can still find success in the industry.
That's why you can also find new kinds of music/sound/arrangement that you never heard
before and I loved them for it
I'd consider Kpop as more an industry than a set genre atp 17:50
Bon Voyage was my favorite DC song, my friend loved DC and it was officially my song
For sure, their best one.
Dreamcatcher let's gooo
P.S. Deja Vu is a collab with a game
wow, carlos chose my two favorite songs (vision and deja vu)
i really like Bon Voyage to
You and I, Scream, Odd eye, Maison and Bonvoyage in the queue
Alternate title for the video : Struggling to "hate" on Dreamcatcher 😅❤
that just show how good dreamcatcher is😂
that just show how good dreamcatcher is😂
deja vu is my fav title track from them, but you GOTTA check out some of my others favs, "bonvoyage" (A MUST), "reason" (a complete banger that they released for they fans), "BEcause" (a little bit more pop, but i absolutely love it, inspired by the horror movie "US") and for the older ones my absolute favourite is "fly high" and then "you & i"
That's interesting!
Awesome. Please check out more Dreamcatcher's music when you guys have the chance. Dreamcatcher and their music are really cool and awesome.
"They are not afraid to be like that"
Ye... Kinda. It is like this now. But the girls had to tolerate too much sh1t. They debuted, they group disbanded... Then they (the agency) experimented to save the situation... And it worked (at the end). Those days were way too dark :/ But hey, we are here with them after all this years :D
sort of yeah but minx never disbanded! they just renamed and added new members, here was never a "real" disbandment
I'm always getting emotional hearing people react to Dreamcatcher, my all time favorite
I loooooooooooove dreamcatcher , a few more of my fav tracks that you guys should chk out next: piri, because, scream and odd eye
16:31 how did she get that one piece of hair to move, sheesh! They're so talented even their hair dances.
I thought y'all were gonna be overly critical of Deja Vu, I am SO HAPPY you both gave it 10s, you've kept your credibility! 😅
Kazinho you've got that pokerface DOWN I had no idea you'd give VISION an 11! Actually VISION is in my top 3 as well. Thank you so much for checking out Dreamcatcher I hope you will delve more! Really curious what you'd think of OOTD & BONVOYAGE, those 2 are kind of polariszing in the fandom.
Tip for getting into Dreamcatcher… forget the title distinctions, they are ALL vocalists.
Even you guys, first time listeners, chose Deja Vu as their favorite song shows you the power of this song in the top spot or at most top 10 for many Insomnias. Chef's kiss.
i saw a bunch of reactors to Dreamcatcher but you guys by far are the most interesting. hope to see Dreamcatcher reactions more in the future ❤
Consider listening to BEcause, Jazz Bar, Demian, Rising, Black or White
finally vision appreciation 🔥
If you ever revisit Dreamcatcher, you absolutely have to watch and react to Rose Blue
I'm also someone who doesn't like KPop, but I'm Dreamcatcher. the only group I follow and I always listen to their songs... and for some reason I'm not interested in other groups and don't want to know other kpop groups let alone boygroups.
Kpop group terminology:
Main > Lead > Sub
The number of main and lead vocalists depends highly on the number of members in the group.
Thanks for checking out Dreamcatcher 😊
I'm not really into girl groups & not really followed Dreamcatcher, but Boca & Vision are some of my favourites.
Your comments & reactions are honest, no sugar coating & I like that. I also apreciate that you take the time to research some facts about the groups you're reacted to. You are 1 of my favourite reactors 🙂
Also, don't know if you already noticed, but kpop groups all have their own theme/concepts, & they stick to it for all things they do: songs, musics, MVs, even clothes & acessories. That's why you rarely see variations from the same group, cause they stick to the concepts. They also have storylines, different for each groups, & it can get really cofusing for people that don't follow that group.
For their earlier concepts their each represents nightmares for their albums
I think i would love a part 2 to this incl. Maison, OOTD, Bonvoyage, Scream and BEcause
The Heaven’s a Lie comparison was genius and makes so much sense! The other esoteric comparison I like to make is for Vision-that riff sounds like it’s straight out of a Rammstein song, turned cyberpunk.
Deja vu is my all time favorite track from them. It's like it gets into my bones in the best way possible.
Im not even lying when I say this band is so much chaotic energy- if you guys havent already (Ima probably scroll through yalls reactions.) you guys should react to insominicy's videos "This is" playlist, they basically introduce dreamcatchers at their very core of their personality and just for a moment, imagine all these serious girls in these videos, chasing each other with rubber hammers... its hard to explain but i 100% reccomend them, they are like... the realest of real group.
hope yall do a Dreamcatcher part 2~
Please react to Piri, Fly High, You and I, and Scream also
its also amazing how the girls can sing all their songs live
Im a big fan of dreamcatcher for for 6yrs, thanks for reacting them! Im looking forward another reaction!
Thank you for reacting to them!
dreamcatcher \:D/
the most diverse discography in music! almost no two of their songs sound alike which is a lot more than I can say for, sorry, current gen kpop. you only heard their more rockish title tracks. most of their songs are actually non-rock and maybe more to your preference, more 'cohesive'. personally after listening to dreamcatcher long enough, I love their more dynamic songs but I know for western ears it can be jarring. they are also old school and sing sing... a lot of current gen kpop is more oriented in presentation with live vocals a lot to be desired. korea just isn't into rock so that's why nearly all of their fans are actually outside korea.
For handong, I think the nightmare is more the difference between beeing seen and being perceived.
Bon Voyage is a must react
Supposedly the main one, is the "best one" and the one that has more focus regarding that role
and then it goes like this:
Main, Lead, --------, sub.
Best group ever! Perfect discography!
Such a fun reaction! Love hearimg your opinions, some that I've never heard before especially. I absolutely recommend Scream, Bon Voyage and BEcause!!! My fave dreamcatcher title tracks! Odd Eye is a must watch too
Thank you for reacting to dreamcatcher 😊, hope to see more of them in the channel. They're really cool
all i have to say is that they r fun to watch live! if u ever get a chance to go to their concerts, u should.
Brooo, listen to JUSTICE pls. Masterpiece. I cried while listening to it 😂
Frrrr
K-pop is literally the pop of Korea, what goes in the mainstream in Korea. I don't know why is still taken as a genre the kpop
Great video guys! I love watching it as an InSomnia, you should react to more Dreamcatcher's music videos!! Keep going!!
Vision is a track if kpop song were produced by Mick Gordon.
As someone who got Dreamcatcher as their ults, this made me really happy
Dreamcatcher is just like Diamond of Kpop Industry... We are so lucky to have them 💕
When hater ain't hating at all we won 🫡
The fact that you've reacted to Dreamcatcher means so much omg
Pls react to ATEEZ! I regard them as kinda brothers to Dreamcatcher haha Their producers worked at Dreamcatcher's songs and vise versa + ATEEZ have a great storyline, songs, and visuals - starting with their debut, same as our witches :)
Pls react to the Pirate King (the debut song), Inception, The Real, Guerilla, Halazia
Dreamcatcher is the Only Face of Rock in kpop, it's the only truth
Great username, so true😅
@@robbg6928 thanks
nd yes, Dreamcatcher is the ONLY kpop group with REAL Rock
