Good upgrade. But why is there so much thread on the bolts? Seems like a quarter inch threaded section would more than suffice. Won’t the moving over the threaded part add more wear?
Only issue I see with the threaded insert is that if you tighten it, the you'll have excess friction in the joint. If you relieve the tension, the friction goes away, but the screw is likely to back-out while bashing. Try using Vibra-tite in the threaded insert. It will act like the nylon portion if a locknut.
I have been using these long cheap hex screws as hinge pins from aliexpress for 4 months now, I guess Im either too good jumping the car or I dont jump high enough lmao. Good vid
No the threaded insert is designed to pull into the plastic if it turned you would not be able to tighten is - we have run the X-Maxx several times and it has worked prefectly
@@B-Man90 Good to know. I’m using Traxxas HD arms so that could be the difference. I was thinking of getting the GPM hinge pins. They are hardened steel and resemble the M2C ones but for a bit less money. I may do that at some point because in the last week I’ve lost about 3 hinge pins and broke 3 arms from bad landings. 🤦🏻♂️😕

Think the wear will be minimal .

Thread locked and it has never come loose. Works like a nylon nut.

If they are hardened should be all good
What size?
It looked like the threaded insert did not turn as you pulled it in by force? Have you just deformed the plastic?

where I can buy those captive nut and pins?
Most hobby shops will have them or just google - loads available
GPM Racing has solved that hinge pin problem without no counter sinking at all.
We have the full GPM hinge pin kit on our blue XRT, and it fits really well - even including the shocks.
Where do I get the hinge pins at I need those bad
They are made by several companies (RPM / CEN / GPM etc) and can be found on most RC hobby sites as well as ebay, Amazon etc. 👍🏼
What are the inserts called?
They are a knurled threaded insert
What size is the knurled threaded insert?
@@B-Man90 Too bad. It looked like a promising set up. I also countersunk mine but I don’t know how long it will hold up for. Thank you for the reply.

Weirdly i keep popping the inner sides of the rear arms of the pins 🙃
Even the captive nut and bolt pins?
Go to hardware store cheaper
If you can find right size
