Dan, I wanted to know what the one book you’ve reread is. Are you willing to share? This interview was excellent, and a lot of great discussions emanated from it. I think my desert reads have been the same for a while now-Alias Grace, The Devil in the White City, Little Women, Sharp Objects, and Where the Crawdads Sing (honorable mentions: The Life She Was Given, The Alienist, and The Other Boleyn Girl).
I've never read any of James Paterson's books but my mom likes them and it disappoints me to hear he doesn't really write his own works. It takes all of the joy out of reading them

Sure. The book is "The Last Child" by John Hart. His first five books are outstanding. Last two aren't as great, but not horrible.
