I started this channel as a hobby but now it's becoming much more! I plan on doing RUclips as a full on job when I get out of school! I try and post videos on Sunday and Thursday! I do plan on getting a supermoto but will always ride some dirt! As of now I own a 2008 Crf250x, 2002 Kx250 a 2004 scrambler 500 and a 1998 Grizzly 600! It's always a good idea to go back and hand tighten your lug nuts don't ever depend on a impact wrench. I had the same thing happen to me, Bach left rear. Glad y'all ok

Botnet yeah.. his dad did it. so he is feeling guilty trying to figure out what he did wrong. He knows he over tightened them. But he is blaming the lug threads instead of the impact gun/himself. Even the lower powered electric impacts are around 200 ft lbs . Well over twice the spec. And the good lithium cordless impacts are around 450 ft lbs of torque

That's why you don't use an impact to put lugs on.
Even if it saves you a couple minutes in the short term, it will cost you a lot of time and money in the long term.
Impact guns can torque stuff up to 400ft lbs when the lug nuts and studs can only handle a couple hundred.
You are supposed to use a torque wrench and read the specs for your studs and lug nuts to see the torque specs.
This could have been easily avoided
Superveggie 12 you use a impact gun then torque them to spec thats how most auto shops do it
You actually Ratchet them on then Torque them with a Torque wrench. Impact Gun's destroy Threads Especially on Aftermarket Lug Nuts, They strip the hell out of them. I've learned from experience to never use a Impact gun unless its a Very Low Torque Impact gun.

exact same thing happened to my 2014 silverado. i had those exact same lug nuts too. the lug nuts are just not long enough for the studs and the hub centric ring might not have been in the right position. so the tires and wobbles and then eventually stripped all the studs and flew off.

Hey brandon just to be safe I'd get new studs and lug nuts so you don't have it happen again and get them for all four hubs don't just replace the left front safety is more important than just replacing one side hopefully you'll get the truck fixed and back on the road soon.
