They are simply the best of the current music scene. Fortunately they are far from the mainstream, but they reach the heart and soul of the listener. They are my favorite band and I can't wait (when the pandemic is over) to go and hear them live here in Milan, Italy.
Check out the concert they did in Milano a few years ago. It's on RUclips. It's a terrific show and proves that Italia has the most enthusiastic and adoring Larkin Poe fans. 👍💖🎸😎
"They are simply the best of the current music scene." Your view of "the current music scene" must be quite limited. Larkin Poe are good--very, very good--but they are hardly the "best" of the musicians currently active. A matter of fact: There is no "best". If you disagree, please feel free to explain how Larkin Poe are somehow better than the world's leading symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, and solo classical music artists. How are they better than, for example, Gov't Mule, SHEL, Kamasi Washington, Lovebites, Plini, Joe Bonamassa, Mary Spender, Punch Brothers, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera? I'd love to see a detailed rational argument.
@@TheRealJanKafka It depends on how you define "best". What is the best band of the current music scene? It's the band that's having the most fun playing their music! Nobody has more fun than Larkin Poe!! 🎸🎸🎸
@@audiophileman7047 "It depends on how you define "best"." I define it as being meaningless in the context of music performance. "It's the band that's having the most fun playing their music! Nobody has more fun than Larkin Poe!!" That's entirely subjective and quite painfully risible. You've actually interviewed every musician in the world to determine which one is "having the most fun playing their music"? Somehow I can't quite believe that.
Yes! Larkin Poe is my main squeeze! It's the fresh peach pie American soul music for the 21st century. These musicians are some of the best, I'm so glad they're getting out these deep vibes. Thanks!
The sisters did a fantastic concert in Decatur, AL a while back. Damn they are so good! I’d love see or hear Magen and Dereck Trucks jam. And Rebecca and Susan sing some harmonies. I would’ve thought that I had died and gone to heaven. You rock ladies!
I first saw you on the CBS Saturday show. Since then I have listened to & watched little else, bought all your albums, and introduced you to many others. It is great to see a young band that has its roots in classic rock & blues. Having seen the Allman Brothers & ABB members in concert 95 times, I really like the 2 guitar / slide sound. Loved the reference to them in this song. And you sing like angels! Can't wait to see you when you tour, especially with all the great songs from Self Made Man.
Yeah, they are really special. I've read their current interview where they talked about their attempt to revive blues or roots music in a 21st century form. Every one of their last albums was a stepstone in this direction and I am curious what might come next. I hope, they outrun big music business independently and get their reward at last.

Best damn southern rock song I've heard in 30 years! Can hear alot of your influences. Love to meet with you when you come to KY in Sept. Please give us more !
One could easily listen to Rebecca sing a phone book. She has that once in a generation voice. Megan is a phenomenal slide player. They're great as they are, but adding a real strong hotlicks guitar player to augment Megan would be a great addition. There are plenty of great female guitar players out there. They just need to find the right one.
@@frankboyd. Yeah, i wonder what happened to her. I really like the Lovell Sisters as a bluegrass/string band.... I wish LP would at least dabble in their roots once in awhile....

These sisters are very talented and worthy of admiration but to disrespect the two other musicians onstage by not even mentioning them is extremely arrogant !
I like these two, but no way is this rendition anything more than meh. I like their original stuff more than their take on this ferociously classic blues staple.
I have to believe you commented on the wrong song. This is an original penned by Rebecca which she states in the introduction to the song. Unless you are thinking of this classic. ruclips.net/video/Y3e-BNLYrMU/видео.html
Can’t get enough of the two of you. Thank you for your inspiration to keep ROCKING!!
I just bought a houseboat and named it "Back Down South". I am moving back home to the south.... Love the POE
Real Musicians don't need Grammys!
Man I hope they never change their bassist and drummer again, what a killer rhythm section
Those 2 dudes are great! So glad they've kept them close for so long now.
now they did..
GREAT SONG .. GREAT LYRICS ... STEEL MAGNOLIAS DO IT AGAIN 🎯

This two are sooooo cool, soooo good and they have good company with a bassist and drummer.
Ladies, I really love what you do!

The trees down in Georgia
Grow as tall as a cross
Where Little Richard was singing
Where rock and roll learned to walk
Country blues in a bottle
Get those tubes running hot
'Til the serpents start hissing
Y'all let me out of this box
Streets of gold
Ain't that red dirt clay
Leave some peaches in a basket by the pearly gates
When my race is run
Hear that angel sound
May the good Lord show me mercy
Send me back down south
Send me back down south
Sweet Carolina
From the north to the south
Where those reapers be hot
And they put those tears in your mouth
Papa's got a new bag
He gave it to Mr. Brown
And Charlie got him a fiddle
Before the devil went down
Streets of gold
Ain't that red dirt clay
Leave some peaches in a basket by the pearly gates
When my race is run
Hear that angel sound
May the good Lord show me mercy
Send me back down south
Send me back down south
Way down in Macon
Put your ear to the ground
Where the brothers are sleeping
And you can still hear the sound
Of a band that was singin'
About a sky that was blue
They sang it for me
And now I'll sing it for you
Streets of gold
Ain't that red dirt clay
Leave some peaches in a basket by the pearly gates
When my race is run
Hear that angel sound
May the good Lord show me mercy
Send me back down south
Those streets of gold
Ain't that red dirt clay
Leave some peaches in a basket by the pearly gates
When my race is run
Hear that angel sound
May the good Lord show me mercy
Send me back down south
May the good Lord show me mercy
Send me back down south
May the good Lord show me mercy
Send me back down south
Back down south, mm

Killer song but one question: Did I hear an Hammond? And if so, who was playing it?
Love them. Couldn't hear Megan's guitar at all, though.

They weren’t a duo......there was a 3rd, older sister in the band...
Larkin Poe started after she left The Lovell Sisters. But I'm sure she influenced their growth. She was great too.

Man I'm sick of the girl Turning sideways facing each other..The audience is out front and deserves the full attention of the performers.
Then turn your monitor off and the volume up!
This is really good!
