Read the comments man! So many people are disagreeing with him! I bought an 04cbr600rr after passing my test and i love it. I ride it to work every day in all weather! The first day i got it i had to pull out from the bike dealers and get straight on the motorway in heavy rain. It rides like a dream! Ignore him and for for the re ;)
Yep. I've just brought a 600rr 2003 model and its brilliant!! Smooth power delivery and super handling. At first it felt jerky (because its so responsive) but after 15mins, throttle control took over - it helps alot! Its as smooth as silk! And I love it! I'm glad i didn't listen to this review (i nearly did!) because for me this bike is perfect, in handling, peak power and delivery. :-) one happy chappy.
Starting the bike before the fuel pumps fully armed? Revving off on a cold engine? This bloke emits shit from every orifice. The only thing he's right about is the sublime suspension and handling. This bike is a joy to own and ride in every situation I've thrown at it.
This is by far the best review of a motorcycle that i have ever seen, verry honest and giving real world opinions of a daily rider. Please keep up the good work and i'll check out your other videos.
Some people may not like your honesty Nick, but I find this review is extremely helpful to really realise wether someone wants a bike because of it's looks or because of it's characteristics according to what it will be used for. I know for shure that most CBR in the aftermarket are from people who realised that despite the great looks it has, it is rather uncomfortable or does not meet their needs / expectances of use of a bike.
No one listen to the guy in this video. Been riding a 125 for 3 years. Passed my mod 2 this week and just bought this model. First day out and it was raining in a busy town centre. Riding in traffic was fine and it handled so so well. This bike is fantastic!
Nice review Nick...love the accent. This review pushed me towards my 07 CBR600RR. You are spot on with respect to riding in traffic, but what a blast on the open road!
Hi there Yes it will, I sold mine to a guy who was 5'4" and he managed (just). They are a bit of a stretch though so only buy if your fully confident. Kind regards Nick Hine
I just bought a 2008 Honda CBR 600 RR and have to say it's a great ride, and very fun. I was always skeptical, and even kept my 2006 Honda VTX 1800F, just in case.
The new Blade got some 35mpg on a full throttle Bruntingthorpe test track at the hands of MCN, How they got 28mph from an (albeit slightly older) 600 engine when the new 1000 will manage nearly 10mpg more on a track is beyond me.
I was surprised at the end when he said it sets the standard for the 600 class, he just got done saying it was dangerous! Anyway, I'd take my 600rr over any gsxr 600 or R6, but that's personal preference really..
Cheers matey for those kind words, we did start reviewing bikes and cars a few years ago but found we couldn't make a living so we switched to maintenance DVDs. It would be a dream to do something like this full time mind. Ta, Nick Hine
Yep, there are loads of after market exhausts available, changing one is more involved than a standard, side mounted can though. Getting the seat units off these things is a pain, although I'm not sure if you need to.
Nice review. Have you installed a steering damper since then? I think the 4 best things you can do to the 600rr would be to add a good damper, adjust the suspension for your weight/comfort, better set of tires, and a different exhaust (the first 3 being, by far, the most important).
You're bang on, I used to ride with my mate on a 749 and out of corners in unfamiliar roads he would pull away, unless i guessed on the right gear. It takes full commmitment to make use of the power. But the CBR was faster outright. But in fairness the CBR is fine on the road and can be ridden gently or quickly depending on your mood and is still unbeaten in terms of ride quality. best regards Nick Hine
I think you should get an '08 now, it has acceptable midrange, the electronic steering damper, and I get upwards of 50mpg freeway (over 40 city). Very comfortable compared to the other 600s. I sold my Ninja 650R to buy my 08 600RR and I was amazed at just how much faster the RR is!!! Handles turns like a dream too! Great review btw
For me it has to be the CBR, fit and finish is just a little better, but there's so little in it that personal preference should really be the deciding factor. A back to back test ride is the thing for you. Cheers Nick
@techking00107 one is the high beam one is the low beam. I dislike the asymmetry so I usually keep the high beam on (the low never shuts off) There are kits to fix it.
The last thing you look for with a bike like this is how much space there is for groceries. Take this bike on the backroads and twisties and open it up, not to the local supermarket to pickup milk. This is probably the best 600 out right now, according to most reviews. Honda has done an amazing job with this bike, and I hope to buy one next summer to replace my Ninja.
My ZZR600 is over 100bhp as it has been dynojetted. It has useful powerful even at 2000rpm or below and will pull all the way up to the 14000rpm redline without hesitation. It is comfortable and even with hard riding start stop use, it always returns 45mpg and on a long run at motorway speeds will return 60mpg. I can even pull away in second gear with no effort at all and the tool kit is easy to get to just by removing the seat and I never get a numb arse. Long live the Kawasaki.
I had an ohlins damper with a harris fitting kit bought from Hein Gericke and it cost about £250, I took it off the bike when I sold it and got about £180 for it too, so well worth it. Kind regards Nick Hine
I just bought a 2011 cbr600rr and I'm loving it this bike is badass sure its not that comfortable but every time I ride I find myself saying oh hell yeah
@Phoenixsuns21 This is the most real review I have ever seen. This is how real people ride. I'm really tired of racetrack oriented reviews with vague non-empirical remarks that seem to only be the photo-shoot scene for advertisements. I'm not Troy Bayliss or Migel Duhamel. I actually want to hear detailed information about everything that is lackluster. I want reviews to call these large companies on their bullshit, so to speak. USA is not equal to stupidity.
It's a good response, thanks. I especially like your use of punctuation and spelling and love the way you jump tenses. Thanks again. P.s. it must have taken a lot of courage to write that, well done.
That user name is a dead giveaway of your loyalties. Cut me in half and I've got Honda written all the way through me though, I bloody love anything 80's and Japanese. just been working on my VFR400Z tonight in fact. Mid 80's factory street fighter 10 years ahead of it's time.Stood for 15 years and still runs like a swiss watch. regards Nick Hine
Hi there I would recommend not restricting any bike, buy a bike that already makes less than 33 BHP. The BROS400 or a single cylinder 250 for example. Riding a restricted bike is a horrible experience, they feel completely strangled. Buy a smaller bike and learn to wring every ounce of speed from it, it will stand you in much better stead to progress onto a powerful bike afterwards and make you a much better rider. Best regards Nick Hine
Have you looked at a Ninja 250R? Perfect sport bike for beginners. Plenty of power for a beginner, and its a blast on twisty roads. Great fuel economy too!
I'd buy another one tomorrow! Don't let me put you off, the welding on the swingarm makes it worth while buying. Can't afford one yet but as soon as I have smoe money again I'll be replacing it. Kind regards Nick Hine
I under stand that the bike may need a steering damper but if you getting tank slippers conering your doin something wrong. Your supposed to power out of corners lifting the wait off the front end transferring it to the bake ( power out not in )
Good review but a bit misleading. Tank slappers can happen any time to almost any bike, granted some more than others but a £200 aftermarket steering damper is a simple fix if your overly worried. Most buying an 03-05 will find a previous owner may have already installed one. His other gripes are generally applicable to all 600 supersports.... no room under seat, main power high in rev range, low mpg. I wouldn't let any of this put you off
It is upsetting to watch a great bike review like this and then someone coming up with an offensive comment like Phoenixsuns21's. Great reply by DrivenandRidden and quite polite.
Excellent review, I love full coverage of the ups and downs of a product like you just did, it's very helpful when trying to pick a product to buy. For the moment I can't afford a nicer motorcyle though, this is way out of my price range so in the meantime I'm gonna learn to ride on a cheap piece of junk that I can wreck and it won't matter.
Thanks for that, at first I took it very personally, thicker skinned now. People are surprised when they get a personal response from a impersonal youtube video I think and generally apologise afterwards. Cheers Nick Hine
Very good review, Nick. I've just been looking at a 2005 3k mile example in a showroom. A pristine machine, I was considering it as a possible purchase, but after your review, I think it would be too focused for my taste. Who wants a tankslapper because Honda were too cheap to sort the bike properly?
I agree with the 600RRs being annoying for local street use. I'm looking at a 2006 or newer GSX-R750 now to get better torch out of my daily use while having better handling than the 1000s. Anyway, great review!
I own this bike now and love it, it's got a few mods on it now, I was watching the video to show my mate a review on the cbr600rr and thought I recognise that number plate lol
good review,do you think the cbr 600 ,06 is the most rider freindly of the sports bikes produced around 2006,compared to ,zx,r6,gsx etc thinking of buying an 06,cant quite stretch to an 07 with the damper. thanks mate
I bought the 04 model and in my opinion this is an honest review of the bike. I love the bike but its just hard riding in city traffic. Ive ridden the 07 CBR 1000rr and its actually alot easier and more comfy than this bike. The engine under the seat gets really really really hot in traffic so Im getting fan control to help cool it down during stop start city traffic. As hard as it is to ride its still a beautiful bike.
Awesome bike. I had this pre-order before it came out in 2003. and it was faultless on the road and on the track. I don't think it needs a steering damper if you keep it smooth and don't give it the death grip if she wobbles. I did about 15k and then up'd to a 1000rr which is a bad choice in my book. soon be getting a 08.
very good review. i just traded a kawasaki zzr600 for one of these. i have not been riding much lately sometimes the leaning makes me nervous, but i enjoy this bike very much. and again, nice review.
best bike out, luggage space? are you guys serious, the undertail exhaust is so clean look'n and well balanced (as opossed to 20 lbs of exhaust on one side of the bike), ive got the hotbodies exhaust which is crazy clean, way lighter than conventional exhaust and sounds awesome! RR all the way!!!

Ahh the magic of television. 1. The bike was fully warmed up (we thought 5 minutes of idling might have made for a less interesting film and also how do you think it got to the side of the road?) 2. The bike was mine, paid for with my own money, my first and only brand new bike and now sold to fund making more maintenance DVD's. 3. Thanks for the personal insult, I'm not a real person so it obviously doesn't matter. 4. Sentences start with capital letters. Regards, Nick Hine.
I need help. For my 18th birthday, im shopping for a bike but cant seem to make up my mind on a make or color. Any suggestions or tips would be great....
Probably a little hard work. I sold this one to a chap who was about 5ft 5inches and he had trouble getting on. seemed like he'd have had a better more enjoyable time on something smaller. but then again, sprts bikes are uncomfortable full stop! We buy them because we must have them! cheers nick
I went to honda's official site to read about CBR600F and get MSRP info but found none (only the double-R is listed.) Did they discontinue it or something? Thanks, Nick.
Even though I'm 15, it'll still be definitely going to be my first bike when I get my bike test, just gutted I'll have a two year restriction to start with. Quiet amazing bike, just everything to do with it is smart. Although, I would rather have one with theRepsol design to complete the super bike look. Even though CBR's are considered my favourite road bike, the CBR1000's look isn't very appealing in my opinion, too... plain? Apart from that... Quality bike!
You're not wrong, UK license plates are far too big, and if you fit a smaller one the police can and do fine you! A friend of mine once accidentally fitted a truck sized number plate to his moped and knocked about 10 mph off the top speed! Regards and thanks Nick Hine
Maybe CB 500, resti which you put is bit too strong for first bike i recon. Anyway if u wonna buy one of these i would say it's not big diference, depends what u like.
This bike is design to be fun to ride not a cross counrty touring bike, this guy is a tool who can't handle raw power and probaly never rode a twostroke, I own this bike and a few others including a vtwin bmw, the 600rr is my comuter next to my harley with excellent fuel economy, and makes other bikes think twice about messing with me, by far one of the best 600 bikes on the market
"wrong riding posture"? I`m sorry, explain to me what is the 'correct' riding posture, because god forbid we should be at all different. I`m just nipping out to get my skeleton reshaped to be more like Rossi's Excellent video mate, thanks for the effort you put into this, and don`t let youtubers put you off!
Thnx for the great video, i am still taking lessons for my license, but when i finally get it i want one of these. I'll be using the bike ride between my work and home, wich is about a 30 min drive, but with this bike i think it will be only 20 min ;) I was first thinking of getting a kawaskai ninja 600, but thnx to this vid i changed my mind.
wow i was looking at an 03 cbr Should i look at an 04 or 05? And why isn't there more reviews on bikes on youtube. Does anyone know of someone who does great reviews on sports bikes?
Read the comments man! So many people are disagreeing with him! I bought an 04cbr600rr after passing my test and i love it. I ride it to work every day in all weather! The first day i got it i had to pull out from the bike dealers and get straight on the motorway in heavy rain. It rides like a dream! Ignore him and for for the re ;)
Whenever i picture a sports bike, I think of a 2003-2006 Honda CBR600RR. Its the perfect balance of weight and power. Perfect...
Yep. I've just brought a 600rr 2003 model and its brilliant!!

tank slappers happen when the front wheel is lite too, f it lands and comes of line with the rear
i have a 600 and probably will never push that bikes limits, the power is nice when i need it though

I'm unsure about the F, perhaps it's only available in certain countries or as a grey import in the UK.

thanks man. im just worried about the embarasment of rollin up to a stop light tip toeing to stay up on the bike.
I own this bike now and love it, it's got a few mods on it now, I was watching the video to show my mate a review on the cbr600rr and thought I recognise that number plate lol

Does he recomment the stearing demper? Just bought one cant wait to drive it!
I bought the 04 model and in my opinion this is an honest review of the bike. I love the bike but its just hard riding in city traffic. Since this video was added wasn't alot been improved on the honda ?
That's very kind of you to say so Henry Mark Stewart.
I get about 46 mpgs. I also got 6300 miles on the rear tire. I'd like a steering damper though.
I was hellbent on one of these; but then I walked past the new Gixxer thou, black with the black frame... back to the Suzy for me.
Awesome bike. I had this pre-order before it came out in 2003. and it was faultless on the road and on the track. I don't think it needs a steering damper if you keep it smooth and don't give it the death grip if she wobbles. very good review. i just traded a kawasaki zzr600 for one of these. i have not been riding much lately sometimes the leaning makes me nervous, but i enjoy this bike very much. and again, nice review.
my first bike was a 2004 yamaha r1 and i've never done an accident with it till now
if you are smart and strong you'l ride everything
best bike out, luggage space? are you guys serious, the undertail exhaust is so clean look'n and well balanced (as opossed to 20 lbs of exhaust on one side of the bike), ive got the hotbodies exhaust which is crazy clean, way lighter than conventional exhaust and sounds awesome! RR all the way!!!
My monies on the 03RR but compare it to a 04GSXR and they're harder to split.
DrivenandRidden Is this DVD still available? cant seem to find it.
He Stef, geen Eigen Video Grinnik, zie wel nog bij 131
@DrivenandRidden Hey Nick when you got this tankslapper what happpened? did you fall man? a tankslapper is my biggest fear ever riding and I need to know how to get out of one if it happens
i have never ridden before and i started out with a 600cc r6. It all depends on the person.
Ahh the magic of television. 1. The bike was fully warmed up (we thought 5 minutes of idling might have made for a less interesting film and also how do you think it got to the side of the road?) 2. I need help. For my 18th birthday, im shopping for a bike but cant seem to make up my mind on a make or color. Any suggestions or tips would be great....
Great review thank you!! what do you think of the Triumph 675 daytona?
Probably a little hard work. I sold this one to a chap who was about 5ft 5inches and he had trouble getting on. seemed like he'd have had a better more enjoyable time on something smaller. but then again, sprts bikes are uncomfortable full stop! We buy them because we must have them!
cheers
nick
I went to honda's official site to read about CBR600F and get MSRP info but found none (only the double-R is listed.) Did they discontinue it or something? Thanks, Nick.
Also...accessing the tool kit and taking the rear seat off is bloody easy!!!!
HONDA FOREVER!!! I'll be getting a CBR 600 soon! Thank you very much for the review :)
Did you get it?
What year was the bike; I must have missed it. Im planning on getting an 06 cbr600RR for my first bike.

A friend of mine once accidentally fitted a truck sized number plate to his moped and knocked about 10 mph off the top speed!

Thanks for your comment, but perhaps you should learn to spell and punctuate properly before having a go?
P.S. What's a mucker?

Nick Hine
what about GSX-r 600 k6? R6 2006? have to choose between thise bike's...whitch one will be my 1st bike...
Maybe CB 500, resti which you put is bit too strong for first bike i recon. Anyway if u wonna buy one of these i would say it's not big diference, depends what u like.
Cbr 600f4i or the RR.
I want a fun bike that can do everything on the road... Im thinkin twice now about the RR not sure.
im just going from vid to vid gathering facts, and i want to ask. is it okay to place the license plate right above the back tired facing the ground?
can the exhaust be swapped on this bike? seeing as how the pipe comes out unda the seat? and can slip ons or just new cans be put on?
@techking00107 I think it's like day lights or something. I don't really know what its called but one light on means energy efficient motorcycle :D
Proper review. Best on RUclips.. Thanks mate!
@PigeonPigeonPigeon1 I heard it was up to almost 40+
why does one light come on when he is driving it and not both
there are other bikes to ride around town... i hear schwinn makes a mean tire shearer
I`m just nipping out to get my skeleton reshaped to be more like Rossi's
Excellent video mate, thanks for the effort you put into this, and don`t let youtubers put you off!
the back seat just pops off when you put the key in under the riders seat. check out my 03 cbr on my channel.
CBR600F if you want a more practical bike. The 600RR is beautifully built though compared to the competition.

which is better kawasaki ninja 250R or honda CBR600RR
in terms of performance and price.
which outweighs more?
you think its possible to reduce it to 34 hp? (for riding it with 18 in germany)
I don't understand, is that mean kawa zx6r is no good in comparison?
Were you tippy toeing like really bad?
I measured from the floor to my crouch area...is about 29inches. My overall height is about 5ft4in.
In my opinion this is the best look of any fireblade. This 600 feels alot meaner than the new 600 rr. Just my opinion!
really like your leathers, what is it?
you got a light out... ima have to pull you over for that
Hi, I'm about 5'11" and 12st

Honda CBR's are the most comfortable bikes out there and they are pretty fast too
Thnx for the great video, i am still taking lessons for my license, but when i finally get it i want one of these.
I'll be using the bike ride between my work and home, wich is about a 30 min drive, but with this bike i think it will be only 20 min ;)
I was first thinking of getting a kawaskai ninja 600, but thnx to this vid i changed my mind.
@Nskawtea1 its a safety feature to make you more visible, day or night
i hope you warmed it up
wow i was looking at an 03 cbr Should i look at an 04 or 05? And why isn't there more reviews on bikes on youtube. Does anyone know of someone who does great reviews on sports bikes?
