- This is inspired by the Jane Austen July readathon hosted by channels Books and Things, Blatantly Bookish and Spinster’s Library. I, being a stationery channel, have been inspired to create a journal kit that will make the month of journaling even more enjoyable by using an unconventional container (the writing box) to house supplies, use my dip pens and wax and seals more and explore all things Austen.

Oh, Jane would totally use all those things if she had them. And who wouldn't want that music nib? I think Altoid tins would have been treasured back then. Everything is BEAUTIFUL and thoughtful!!!

This box looks amazing! A couple of hours after I watched this video, I was re-watching an episode of one of my favorite shows, Lodge 49, and one of the characters gives this same box to another character. My jaw just dropped! Such a cool coincidence! After that little synchronicity, I had to order one of my own. I can't wait to fill it up with vintage goodness. I love your videos. It’s so nice that you have your first Austen copies! I started reading her in my last year of middle school & used my library, but it would be so special to have first read copies!

I found a simple writing desk at GW last June. It didn't have a sticker, but as I was checking out I asked the manager, who was the one at the register, if I can pay $3, and she said yes. At first glance it looked like it could have been a well cared for vintage box, but the inside seemed like it was more modern. A couple weeks ago, we went to a night flea market and there sat a writing desk just like mine. A look underneath revealed that it was by a Bombay Company, and the vendor wanted $20 for it. So I was happy with my modest writing desk I got for $3. It only has a main compartment and a smaller pen compartment at the bottom, and the writing surface lid lifts up. I only began to populate it with correspondence tools and letters today, and then here I find your new video! Happy 4th of July! 🎆

A secretary desk.
Would she have used any of that? Jane Austin was a pretty hard core masculine girl from her equivalent of Compton was she not. She made fun of frilly. She wasn't frilly. If she was around today she would most likely hang with bikers.
