That and they are giving negative talking points about humanity that their own council member races were censured for, meaning that their own collective is not as "peaceful and logical" as they are clearly trying to say they are compared to humanity. "Humans messing with bio engineering is dangerous!" "Werent (insert name of species)", recently might I add, censured for bio engineering and are already members of this "esteemed" council?" And the delegate giving the presentation was clearly biased and presented the majority of data that was only negative, and that being data that was primarily in the past, vs more recent changes, obviously in an attempt to sway the opinions of the council at large.

Kyrak did terrible research on humanity. Like I get not having the time to understand all of our history but he doesnt understand literally any of what hes talking about.
It depends really. no matter which version of history we choose... to review the amount of atrocities human kind have committed cannot be understated. The founding of what Human's would call this so-called modern age were come on the back of unrepentant exploitation, slavery and genocide. Kyrak delivered a brief explanation for what we could see under observation. Human's allow their own to Starve to the multitude of tens of thousands per day... in the name of some - with too much - to enjoy a life of what they would call "luxury.". That any member of the council could overlook what they do to themselves, to the only planet they have ever inhabited... and consider these greedy, and illogical creatures something that we could either trust, or control are truly foolish. Humanities leaders do not abide by the commandments of the Gods they claim themselves to serve, Nor do They listen to the proclamations of scientists they employ. Worst yet they will not listen to the will of their people that their governing bodies are meant to edify and protect. So we would add them to the council believe that they are prepared to follow the laws of the council - prepared to listen and be guided by what the term they use - A Foreign Power? It would be quire foolish of us to reject empirical evidence before us. That is simply, if humanity the tools, they would fan the flames of war to unseat us if it meant that they line their coffers with our planets natural resources, our technology, and land.
@@ireallyreallyhategoogle Over Generalization? I understand how Kyrak's decision may have appeared hasty. However their is no fault in Kyrak's research, Kyrak need not to lay out each and every instance of the failings of humanity - as there are too many leave room for any fair judgement. Kyrak did humanity a favor for not going deeper than he did - for several points in history would not only exclude humanity from a seat on the council... but warrant the complete annihilation of the species. More Warlike and bloodthirsty than any that currently hold a seat at the council, Humans have caused more destruction to themselves and their own planet than rogue AI were capable of doing in several galaxies. Humans were given a chance to prove they can be more than their history and recent events suggest they are. A chance that is much more than they deserve, considering that if they do not change they could destroy themselves, and take half of the galaxy with them...

because that's what any kind of council or "united" body of elected individuals is. That is what government is. You think humanity is any different? Were you given the option and choice to be a member of your local government and decide whether or not to abide by its laws? Either you are accepted and ruled by the collective, or you are a rogue and get stomped.
We as a race are still too tribalistic and selfish to be accepted into a galactic community, but our curiousity, willingness to learn, and adaptability to what we learn are traits worth keeping is on a galactic radar, at least until armed forces and politicians get involved. Then the council might split humanity between the curious and the tribal, leave one on earth to rot while welcoming the other with open arms. This is coming from a real life alien (autistic person). Humanity cast me out at a young age, so i got to study humans as though i was an observer sent from another world.
They should've brought up the idea of genetic experiments being able to save lives or help the wounded. Even now we have prosthetic limbs and other such surgeries.
I think they were more concerned with the fact that humans tend to experiment without much regard to consequences. They were thinking more of worst case scenarios than best case. And looking at the vast majority of what most human technological innovations are put towards, many more of our breakthroughs are typically first put to use in our military than in any life saving applications as a trend.
