  • Taken at St Andrew's Hall in Detroit, Michigan on May 24, 2023. Misa holds her opening ceremony, and our pigeon casts a spell on us while the rest of the band is silly. :)

    Makes me happy to see wester women seeing this is their band! The guys will love them of course, but I fear many western women do not take time to realize what a great example that girls really can kick the guys asses haha
    Thanks for posting Kaylee!

      I had heard of them a couple years ago but it wasn't until about Christmas 2022 that I started really getting into it (shortly after I devoured all of Lovebites' discography and was looking for more Japanese bands) and fell in love with the band, and enjoyed the hell out of all of them and how much *fun* they have.
      Honestly, Metal is more alive overseas than it is in the US. We need more bands like this / more Band-Maid tours :D

    You got treated to a very special Omajinai time at your first Okyu-ji! Thanks so much for taking and sharing this video! I've watched it five or six times now, and it makes me smile and laugh every time. It really highlights Miku's comic genius. Her explanation of the "two choices" is gut-bustingly funny! I've never seen another hard rock band that generates so much pure joy. They are a Japanese national treasure and a priceless gift to the world.

    Does anyone know why Miku doesn't seem to be using the 5150 cabinets and amps anymore ?

    • @rosssnel3117
      @rosssnel3117 Год назад +4

      Good question! I'd been wondering the same. OK, this is a lot of speculation and probably way more information than you wanted, but here goes: Neither she nor Kanami appeared to be using tube amp heads for the May U.S. gigs. Miku had an Orange Pedal Baby solid-state power amp on top of her cab, which makes me think she is using a pedal or digital modeler as her preamp. This change might be due to the problems she had the second night in New York opening for the Last Rockstars. Something in her rig went down, likely the amp head, so she had to do a decent chunk of the set without any guitar sound. (Of course, she handled it like the trooper/magic pigeon she is, and even gave Kanami a sweet kiss during "Freedom." Kawaii turned up to 11!) The logical guess is they didn't want to risk a rented tube amp head failing again during the May shows. As for Miku's Marshall cab, maybe since they weren't using the Peavey head anyway, they just asked the rental company for any old 4x12 cab. If anyone else has better info., I'd love to know. BTW, I wrote to Premier Guitar and asked them to do a video Rig Rundown with Misa, Kanami, and Miku in Nashville, but I have no idea whether they read my email or followed up on it.

      @@rosssnel3117 I don't know why I'm just seeing this now. But I thank you for your dissertation. So I guess basically all the equipment that they use overseas. Outside of Japan of course. Is rented City to City. Would that include all amplification as well as the drums ? Thanks again ! Sorry for the late response back to you !

    • @rosssnel3117
      @rosssnel3117 Год назад

      @@chuckcharles3113 No worries on the late response! My understanding is that they rent the drums and amps and bring over guitars, bass and pedalboards when they play in the states (and maybe cymbals?). I'm assuming it's cheaper and more convenient to rent that gear than to ship it. There is a new twist, though, for us gear geeks: At the last Japanese gig, Miku was playing a Revv amp, and Kanami was playing a Bogner (looked like either an Ecstasy or an Uberschall). I doubt they'd rent gear in the Tokyo area. So looks like they might be changing things going forward.

    When you see how many shows the Maids have actually played over the last 10 years, you can't help but admire how much fun they have. No band does this with their fans but BandMaid. MIku telling the crowd off is hilarious.
