In UK's what car magazine's 2018 reliability survey suzuki came first and Volkswagen 17th and Mazda 11th. Food for thought when buying your next car ! This cannot be a coincidence since suzuki topped Canstar blue ratings down under and in NZ too.
VWs previous generation tsi-s (the 1.2 liter turbocharged engines) suffered from a lot of issues however none of those cars is older then 10 yrs. The Suzuki petrol engines are totally bulletproof, same as Mazdas. Japanese cars however have smaller interiors, will rust earlier, and may be louder inside.
Swift engine is very responsive, sounds super sporty, chassis is really sharp, interior is roomy, upright widescreen provides supreme visibility and suzuki has been rated no.1 for reliability in uk, aussie and NZ surveys. Its a smart choice your heart will agree with too. Transmissions are the most unreliable component in modern cars and swift's 6 speed auto is made by Toyota owned Aisin, so it should last longer than the competing cars here.
In a test of more highly specified city cars by the same website, they chose the swift glx turbo as the winner over similarly specified polo, 2 and a citroen. They said it's the best driver's car of the pack.
VW requires premium fuel and it uses more fuel than others as well as being the most expensive car out of all 3. People buy city cars to save money on running cost... performance is not high on their list of priorities...
depends where you live I suppose, the garage I go to in the uk states 95 ron is standard and 99 is premium. the 115 polo goes well on UK standard 95 though whatever. So not complaining.
We focus our videos on the winner of each class for our Car of the Year. You can read our in-depth article here www.drive.com.au/car-of-the-year/volkswagen-polo-85tsi-2018-119969.html
No the owners manual says 95ron, its standard fuel. you will get no benefit putting higher grade fuel in to the 1.0 Polo. Its the 2.0l GTI that needs the premium fuel. not the one driven here.
Raad Yusuf no mate only search volkswagen reliability on DR Google and you see. I have a volkswagen passat is been the car that constantly is in the shop for something very weak engines ,transmissions
I have to say my SEL 115hp Polo with DSG gearbox has now done 7k miles from new, I got it new 6 months ago having waited for it for 5 months (ordered end Jan 2018 collected 1st June 2018) I have had no issues at all. its a great well built little car made in south Africa. it has all the things a much larger premium car has such as heated seats, climate control, keyless entry / push button start, rear camera, blind spot warning, folding mirrors, driver selection mode, hands free parking, sat nav, ..seriously the list goes on. VW have produced a very nice well build quality car here. I own one drive it every day and I have no complaints.
I've had a 2018 Golf that while it's an excellent car, it started with suspension noises and failing clutch before reaching 10k km. They're excellent cars but a little unreliable comparing with other japanese brands.
Lol. Interesting how every motor review recommends polo but it is never a top seller. Proves the gap between reviewers and actual consumers. Consumers don't give a shit about 'expert ' opinions because they know 'experts' can be bought
No one really buys McDonalds because its fine cuisine, and yet it's a huge seller the world over. While we can't speak for other publications, no outcomes are purchased here. We analyse, assess and report what we find - and of course we acknowledge that some viewers may have a difference of opinion which is totally fine too.
VW is a German car, so it's got to be the best! Even though it's made in Spain. Why don't car reviewers want us to drive stylish, reliable, sporty hatchbacks?
German cars are best? I don't think you know very much. Out of the top ten most reliable cars every year since 2002, 8 out of the top ten have been Japanese except for one year. Germans are arrogant and convinced of their own superiority.
The Polo is in a class of its own compared to the Swift and Mazda2.... in SA they sell about 2300+ of these new Polo’s every month since the launch in early 2018. Go and test-drive all 3 cars, back to back and you will quickly see why its the winner.
Yeah na, still have the Mazda or Suzuki anyday, far more reliable than anything from VAG. This new model would have to be an improvement on the previous, it was a shitter.
yes agree with you there. Easy to jump on the lets bash VW band wagon. But stand back from that and just drive the cars the Polo is the better car, here and now. Resale value?...Polo will hold more of its cash. reliability? who knows its too new to tell.
Look at the prices of the 3 or 5 yr old models, polo will be cheaper than Mazda however it was more expensive when new...for a reason. True, VW is very good at touch-design but far from Mazda-Suzuki reliability and running costs.
we all know the swift and the mazda 2 will outlast the polo few times over...
Is Mazda finally capable not to fall apart in 10 years? That would be a nice change.
@@tomasmalin Had my Mazda 2 for 7 years now, just replaced the stock tires and battery. Haven't had to touch anything else.

Absolutely, also in Europe the Polo is the most expensive.

Price/design/reliability/consumption/drive feel no hard choice: MAZDA 2 :)
Still prefure mazda 2, naturally aspirated engine will last longer. Its better looking than the polo and I think better value.
And mazda driving is so much better and more fun. I drive both cars btw.
God the polo is painfully boring.
The Mazda 2 feels like a big car and looks the best i think.
In my market, it's 35% more expensive than the similarly equipped Swift.
In a test of more highly specified city cars by the same website, they chose the swift glx turbo as the winner over similarly specified polo, 2 and a citroen. They said it's the best driver's car of the pack.
I signed a Swift Strong Hybrid. I can't wait to deliver it. from Japan.
Mazda 2.
What kills the Polo is need to use premium fuel, higher servicing costs and reliability issues of DSG transmission.
VW requires premium fuel and it uses more fuel than others as well as being the most expensive car out of all 3. People buy city cars to save money on running cost... performance is not high on their list of priorities...
Not True. its Std 95 ron fuel for the 1.0l polo as driven here.

Pertalite has 90 Ron

They could have been a little bit more thorough and give the specs for each car... It looks like a Vw ad

"VW Feels a class above when optioned with a digital dash"... different price bracket!
Not to mention the fact that digital dashes are awful, and completely pointless when they try to emulate analogue dials.
Fist review that likes the DGS!
Volkswagen Polo Mazda Demio (Suzuki Swift) BMW S1000RR
Coz all VW group cars is recommended to use BP 98 fuel, and this film Sponsored by BP

Volkswagen poor reliability . No thank you

Just when you thought the new Polo's interior is a bit of a let down, all is well when you compare it to its rivals lol
any car with planetary gear like mazda is expected last few years over a car with CVT (hint.. that's polo)
Wish john caddogan of auto expert could comment on the polo's expected reliability. Bound to use profane language
Vw Polo is unreliable as hell... Stupid turbo car with crappy 3 cilinder
Mazda premium
Polo is all plastic, the engine is a stuttery mess and the price is absurd.
