    Also who was the new pupper?

      Smithfield Red Cattle dog X Border collie X *Bull Arab (*we think). We picked him up from a shelter back in July as a few week old pup. He was one of 10 from a litter that was abandoned. He's a great fit with our family & is a real goof ball.

    Thanks , you gave me an idea. I have a one inch drain pipe in the middle of a 3ft x 4ft cement tub. I am going to set the level of the one inch pipe for about one inch and I am going to follow what you did, but I will use cat litter clay pebbles instead of sand. Also, I won't fill the cement tub with any rocks. I had a bed of rocks and a bell siphon before, but it gets filled with muck and its hard to clean. I have been using my cement tub to grow duck weed. I drilled a hole on the top of my bell siphon , so the water draws from the bottom, but doesn't drain out with the duck weed.

      @@RobsAquaponics I just ordered some 6 inch net cups from amazon. I will line the sides with weed fabric and use 1 inch of gravel on the bottom and fill the rest with potting mix. @@RobsAquaponics I am using smal lava rock cinders, peat, osmocote and soil acidifier mix. I am comparing the growth between 1 gallon fabric pots and 6 inch lined net cups. I have about 1/2 inch of water flow on the bottom. My lettuce are loving the environment, both size pots have the same growth. I put a fine window screen and frame on top to filter the sun light and to prevent my chickens from getting any ideas. Its working for me, thanks for the idea. Its kind of like a modified NFT and wicking tub idea with no mosquito larvae.

  • @jeremyhula931

  • @angleborn

    Have you tried to grow your potatoes in a straw bed instead of soil? It should work if you cover your clay pebbles with straw, then place the spuds and cover with more straw (and continue to do so as they grow). It might require watering from above.

    • @RobsAquaponics
      @RobsAquaponics  Год назад +2

      I haven't Angleborn. From the trials from other coverings (coir & clay) I've used I think the soil would out preform straw as the straw wouldn't be providing many additional nutrients.
      Might be one to try down the track though if I get the room.
      Cheers & happy growing.
