      @@ThierryZwel I am glad you like this wonderful song and lyric. Here are the first, and concluding lines.(For the complete lyric, best to buy or borrow book, 'John Donne, metaphysical poet') '' Go and catch a falling star/ Get with child a mandrake root / Tell me where all past years are/ Or who cleft the devil's foot. //..//..//When thou return'st , thou can tell me/of strange wonders that befell thee/ And swear, nowhere, lives a woman true and fair. /If thou should find one, let me know/ Such a pilgrimage were sweet. / Yet do not, I would not go/ If at next door we should meet./Though she be true, when you met her/ Or last until I send this letter/ She will be false, ere I count one, two or three...' The lyric is by John Donne, central to the metaphysical poets ( 17th century). The ironic text is suffused by imagery of impossible tasks; and suggests that it is also impossible to find, 'a woman true and fair'. It is an ironic song. Unfortunately, this ironic song is now sometimes fashionably and wrongly dismissed as 'misogynistic'. I'm a woman, and think it is fine! It could easily be alternatively be sung as, 'a man true and fair'! Some critics do not understand this is a brilliant text, of IRONY. I admire and enjoy John Renbourn's interpretation of the song. 🙂

      @@ThierryZwel Go and catch a falling star,
      Get with child a mandrake root,
      Tell me where all past years are,
      Or who cleft the devil's foot,
      Teach me to hear mermaids singing,
      Or to keep off envy's stinging,
      And find
      What wind
      Serves to advance an honest mind.
      If thou be'st born to strange sights,
      Things invisible to see,
      Ride ten thousand days and nights,
      Till age snow white hairs on thee,
      Thou, when thou return'st, wilt tell me,
      All strange wonders that befell thee,
      And swear,
      No where
      Lives a woman true, and fair.
      If thou find'st one, let me know,
      Such a pilgrimage were sweet;
      Yet do not, I would not go,
      Though at next door we might meet;
      Though she were true, when you met her,
      And last, till you write your letter,
      Yet she
      Will be
      False, ere I come, to two, or three.
