Good video. Just got back from north bend Oregon and caught my first coho 15 pounder trolling a mooching rig. It was my fist time salmon fishing and I’ve fished my whole life in So Cal. I’m hooked! I’ve never fished the sac river. Definitely want to try.
Always nice to have plenty of flying C's this time of year along with swivels...wish I could be fishing right now...no shame in getting skunked...we've all been there...oh yea., you did catch that little guy...
@@BeardedBassin that's what's up my dude I cut my first sturgeon in hood off the pump on the 160 side years and years ago hey man I gave you a thumbs up and subscribe good luck out there
LOL "I'm a short man, should I go over or under" . I'm short as well, I think I would've went over! I really enjoyed the production you put into your video, awesome job! I typically just put my raw footage up, but seeing some of the amazing work you and few other have done really add to the experience of watching. Again nicely done better luck next time, tight lines!
This is bizarre, I drive hwy 160 almost everyday to and from Sac for work in my dodge and I’ve been stopping after work throwing the exact same chartreuse flying c that you are. It’s new to me too cause usually only bass fish on the delta, but I’ve been curious about the salmon fishing after seeing pics of the pigs people been catching. We’re living the same life man lol
As an avid salmon fisherman, I recommend you using a snap swivel on your lures. Salmon will twist & turn and get your line all twisted up. The snap swivel will prevent that. 👍🏼 Also try a size 6 BlueFox, silver blade, blue bell. That spot looks like a great salmon hole. U should try it again 30 mins before sunrise to 30 mins after sunrise. That is usually the sweet time for salmon to hit a lure. Best of luck to you in all your fishing endeavors. Tight lines. 🎣
Lucky...you get to use trebble hooks and ones with barbs here in washington we have to use single barbless hooks i have litterally lost about 20 and caught about 18
Good video, Have u tried drifting beeds on the American river, you should give it a try. I’m not a big fan of throwing the flying c but down by the hatchery on hazel this year I landed 3 so far. knowing that the fish are there is more intense for me but you should give it a try.
An incoming tide is best for salmon and as far as best spinners flying c’s are alright but I feel like salmon see a million of them when they enter the rivers so I like to throw a tactical co spinner they have a louder thud then Mepps so maybe these tips will help you out! Also try pro cure Slammen Salmon scent it has a garlic base and in warm water garlic is killer for Kings!
@Bearded Bassin Put a large bead on your main line, then tie a swivel on. From there, Tie a 36" leader from main line swivel to snap. Attach ~4oz of weight to your snap and cast it out. Put your rod in a holder and tighten your line. at this point you've just cast a 4oz ball into the river. Then use a snap on one end of your line and tie the other end to a flatfish. 2-4ft of leader I assume. Attach the snap to your mainline and let the current take it out. The flatfish will dive down to your swivel on your main line. Learned this from Cal Kellogg.
Bearded Bassin I use sliding sinker set up similar to a striper set up except you add a dropper line to your weight. Kinda like how the other guy said except I like the sliding sinker set up. I usually have about 3-4 ft of leader attached to the flat fish. I like a 6-8 inch dropper line of lower # test line so it can snap of if it needs to while your fighting the fish. Mainline-2 beads-sliding sinker thing-1 bead- swivel- leader-flat fish(or similar plug) Then attach your weight with dropper line. I usually use a 6-12oz weight. I sometimes use rocks instead of weights so if they break of it doesn’t matter. A little bit of smell on your lure seems to help. Good luck. Ps miniature glow sticks work great for areas where night fishing is legal👌🏽
After reading the other guys post I wanted to add, I cast my whole set up out on my 9 ft medium heavy rod. Kinda difficult at first, but I’m used to doing it now. Can be done with bigger or smaller rods depending on your preference.
Salmon fishing is nothin like your typical bass fishing.........it ain’t easy and it’s always a big reward when you do land one..... salmon fishing>bass fishing ALL Day Everyday!!!!!!!!
Bearded Bassin u sure is missing out then.....if you ever had a chance to hook up on a big chinook in the seas, It will certainly change your mind guaranteed......way better then ur average 1-2 lbs bass
I just subbed to your channel. Sac River is my favorite. Love your set up.. And I truly love your net. Can you kindly let me know where you found it please? Tight lines and stay safe.
use half full water bottle, tie to the snagged line, let it drift with the current and pull the snagged lure out. I guess the second rod is for securing the bottle, or make some action to the bottle if the current does not help.
@@saillei1808 close, you need to throw the bottle out past your stuck lure, with your reel bail open. when you tighten the line to the bottle, set the hook hard. this pulls the lure out the opposite way it entered. second rod is used to retrieve the bottle by the line if you didn't succeed in removing the lure, the first time. it's taken me four tries sometimes to unstick my lure. bearded bass, I'm in Sacramento and East bay if you have ten minutes to show ya 👍
i've lost 7 salmon in a row this year. 3 in one day on friday. the salmon gods have been cruel to me this year. lets say i’d rather get skunked then to lose another fish.
Hey, I like your style, but that intro was rough. Overall a good vide, but like 5:20 until the first real fishing was rough. Just some constructive feedback! Keep slaying them.

Best to fish salmon during low tide...and try some silvertrons next time! Also crop the props out of your intro drone shots! Sick vid tho dude!
