My whole Series on my Blackwater aquariums Check it out! ruclips.net/video/eHajNd3g4mc/видео.html
Nothing beats a Blackwater Aquarium, awesome!
excellent use of various dried bots. I have great results with aponogetons in my blackwater aq.
I was boiling my botanicals and my husband came into my fish room to let me know my “witch tea” was ready. Lol
You should let him know if you were a real witch you wouldn't be boiling the nature out of it lol
Wow what a gorgeous tank I'm going to have to do a Blackwater Now lol thanks
I so love blackwater tanks!
Man your aquariums rock I have two blackwater tanks. Nothing better IMHO.
Beautiful tank!
Thank you Man!! Did you see the keys? :-) Burlington or bust!!
@@JHAquatics The keys, islands? Is Burlington your town? If so what the closest airport I will look at tickets ;) We could go on a guppy expedition!
I just use rooibos tea bag (redwood tree tea) and 2 alder cones. The alder cones I collect locally and roibos tea bags I buy at the supermarket, and are cheap.
Nice tank and botanicals
Thank you Susan :-)
Im definitely going to add a black water aquarium to my collection thanks for the information
I love black water, I have a 15 gal fluval flex black water. I did basically the same thing but I also added some Anubis and duckweed
I got a black water box of botanicals from My Aquarium Box a few months ago. Absolutely loved it. Your tank is looking great. Looking forward to new videos in the New Year.
👍💕👍
Their box is different the my starter kit. I feel my assortment is from experience and what works for me for shrimp and blackwater fish.
Hello, I'm a Brazilian fan of yours. I want to set up a botanical aquarium with darker waters, but I have a question. At the beginning, when the aquarium starts to cycle, can I add the leaves/branches Or do I do this after cycling is finished?
There's no need to sterilise all the natural goodness out of the dry goods. I find this the most weird practice of all.
Could not agree more! Bacteria from nature is healthy for aquariums
not concerned about parasites, harmful fungi/bacteria, etc...?
@@ashlynwanderer I haven't found anything to date. Nothing has died. I don't believe there is anything such as you describe that would effect marine / tropical water life.
@@WollongongSkyWatch i guess too vastly different of an environment for anything to migrate and cause problems then? thanks for the tip! but what about stuff collected from other aquatic enviroments??
@@ashlynwanderer probably best to do your own studies. I wouldn't put a large piece of local lake driftwood in my tropical tank, but I have put all assorted untreated, dead gum leaves, gumnuts, etc, including some type of fungus that I found on my tree. Long bright red strands that look amazing! Just add things slowly and observe.
Any luck spawning those tetras? I’ve got some Rasboras I want to spawn but there’s almost no information on them. They get mixed in with Emerald Eye Rasboras as a bycatch and aren’t a Rasbora you can find at a store. Thinking I’ll need to drop the pH if I want to spawn them.
I'm afraid the casuarina is not a conifer, they are flowering plants in a family of their own and may be related to the alders of the N hemisphere.
I went hardcore with coco nuggets, and I'm still trying to get it light enough to see the plants 😄. Been lovely tannic tea for topping up others, though. I think today might be the day!
very nice i may try this great video
You can find some alder species native to N. America too!
I have shrimp and mystery snails. Can the mystery snails do ok in the blackwater aquariums?
What do U do w the boiled water? It is sterilized, w tannins, dead bacteria etc, which is food got invertebrates & catfish. So it's blackwater extract, which CAN be used as such. Am I right?
I’m sorry if this question is answered somewhere already, but I’ve been planning to eventually do a black water nano tank and I’ve been curious: how do you get the water to stay amber without the filter filtering out all the tannins? I plan on using some kind of a sponge filter for the nano tank. I’d like it to stay relatively dark, wouldn’t a filter try to get rid of the tannins?
My hob filter keeps the tannins nicely, don't know why it wouldn't
@Amber Richardson people put charcoal in aquariums- people that know what they are doing?!
Thanks great vid
Hi, can you use star anise for tannins
I would not suggest it
Can we use pine cones ?
Not so much. The sap is not good.
can i just go to the woods and pick up leaves and pots?
Stay away from conifers
You bet
Can goldfish be kept in a black water tank?
Sure, but I dont think they will enjoy it. Gold fish need heavy filtration lots of water and fine sand at the bottom of the tank.
Goldfish can be kept in toilet water . Lol
@@JHAquatics goldfish need zero filtration (in a pond and a lot of plants).
Cauldron. hehehe
Yup..no notifications again 😕🤷♀️...🤷♀️👍🔨👈
