I am the same with courgettes, but they always disappear off the allotment site bench so someone loves them, nice update. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
My tomatoes are about a month behind this year. I'm usually picking a big bowl full of cherries every 2 days this time of year - this year I've had 7 ripe ones total so far. My carrots look good though, I've had a few already and although they're not up to your standard, they're pretty good for me. That's a nice haul for new potatoes, I'd rather have 3lbs of new potatoes than 7lbs of maincrop, can't beat new potatoes with butter melting all over them
Yeah I agree. The only main crop potatoes I grow are the blue danube as they are superb for roasts. I love fresh new potatoes. Personally I don't see the point growing general purpose spuds as they don't really taste any better and they're so cheap to buy, but you can never get fresh new potatoes in the shops. Cheers Dan 😊
Everything looking really well Dan! 👍 I've grown the Spencer mixed sweet peas this year, they're great for cut flowers 😃. Great potato harvest too... I can't wait to harvest my maincrops, growing them in 30L pots and buried them , hopefully get a good harvest 🤞 Keep up with the great content 👍
Wow no really wow those are some amazing looking onions Dan 👍👍. I don’t have much luck with onions but the shallots did well so I may concentrate on them. I’m doing the same next year trying to grow more of what we really enjoy eating, beans, tomatoes and a corguette called zephyr. Otherwise I find I’m giving more away than keeping 😂. Have a super weekend, Ali 🥵🌞🇨🇦
Hi Dan. Yet again, another late developing season, but things seems to be coming through. Thought nothing would produce, and in the last 2 weeks, everything is looking great! Pulled the onions out I got from Marshalls and only 1 went to seed, thank goodness. How were the rest of yours Dan?? Great update Dan, and Jazzy on the menu next season 👍Catch up soon, Andy and Karen 👍😎
so I have two containers of potatoes, have reached the top of my containers... do I have to wait till the green leaves all die off before checking if I have potatoes growing?>
Hi Dan, good to see you're doing so well on your plot. I've grown carrots the same way as you for years now, but I've got carrot fly in my deep boxes. When you empty your boxes, do you sterilise the sand? I've had to lift all my Sweet Candle because some of them had a bit carrot fly damage.
To be honest I never sterilise my sand. If you have carrot fly damage and you have pulled them all up, the chances are that there won't be any mature pupae to over winter in your sand and turn into flies next year. But I can't guarantee it. As for sterilising the sand I don't really know what I'd use. Maybe bleach at about 500 to 1 dilution. Not sure.

Looking good! My little Gems are over three feet tall now, no sign of flowers, and my Mum says they taste great no toughness or bitterness.
Yeah you can still take leaves off them and they are OK.
I've done that with these red ones and they are fine.
Cheers Dan 😊

The sweet peas looked awful until about 3 weeks ago and they just went mad.
They are a great flower to grow I agree.
Cheers Dan 😊

About half of my red ones went to seed but the yellow onions were fine.
Just been one of those years.
Cheers Dan 😊

Hi, a quick question, I bought too many shallots, can I keep surplus and plant next spring? Love your videos. Thanks. Eamonn.
👍👍

Not sure.
I was thinking of Jeyes fluid mate. The old timers used to flood their leek trenches every year with it to sterilise the soil.
