Totally a fad. And after doing for this video, I’m hesitant to do it anymore! Like I said, they offered it “for the gram” so I said sure lol. Otherwise I wouldn’t pay to do it, personally. But the night videos and flames look cool.
Just for small-talk purposes but crackles, pops, skips and burble sounds with the exhaust note and the flame aspect comes from an improperly tumed, inefficiently tuned/setup or pre-fuel injection a improperly jetted carburetor/s. I've seen whole online post and discussions before from people talking about why other and some are so tickled to have their vehicles sound like a poorly running vehicle. It's kinda like aftermarket filters, blowoff valves and hot-air intakes to just gain a certain sound or additional sound at the sacrifice of gaining or in some circumstances loosing performance. There's a video i want to link to/add but have to find it where a expensive "high flow" filter is added to a Porsche 911 because in promises hp gain, but in reality the dyno shows that the OEM paper filter gave the car a slight better edge in performance. The maker of the video at the end remarks that because of the added sound the after- market filter provided that he'd likely keep the high flow replacement filter on the car even after knowing the truth about the false imcrease in hp claim. Even though this guy is a performance driven seaker. Just funny and or amuzing what people find as beneficial, important and necessary. Like i stated before just small talk, chit-chat. Individuals are always free to make personal choices to what they like even if some may disagree or can't understand the reasoning or fascination.
I don’t disagree. Like I said in past videos-I would not have chosen to have the flame map added, but it was offered for social media purposes. With the ecutek software it’s added as a fuel dump on deceleration and as a separate map, so it’s not impacting performance overall. I don’t plan on using it other than to get a couple of clips, but I don’t need to burn my resonators out anytime soon! There certainly is a fascination with flames and burbles these days, but you can’t blame it solely on poorly tuned vehicles. The Supra for example crackles on deceleration from the factory. Totally agree with the “hot air intakes” comment. I have a video dedicated to just that making the point that they are often a waste of money for more than one reason. Factory filters are often sufficient, but it’s been proven that upgraded filters go a long way in increasing power in these cars-however I suppose we are sacrificing filtering abilities.
@@SpeedCultureStudios Well for certain models of vehicles the manufactures are doing their very best to make their cars sound like this from the showroom floor/factory. Prime example the Ford Focus RS. A big tuners car like the Subarus, Mazadas and Hondas. Ford spent how many $'s and time to get the perfect amount of fast and the furious sound added to that car. People creamed their pants. For me...what gets me excited is a perfectly tuned motor, car or motorcycle, to produce the most amount of hp and effeciency. I was born in 1970 so a different generation. Just from a purest point it's funny how fads evolve and then fade out of periods of time.
Cleansed by the Blood I’m with ya! There are clear lines that appear from trend to trend over the years. What was cool in the early 2000s is considered junk or “ricey” now. Flames are the trend now-as is bouncing off the rev limiter while sitting in a parking lot, for some reason!
@@SpeedCultureStudios Have you seen the movie Grease with John Travolta? Not a typical popular movie today so probably not. I saw it as a kid when it came out. Anyways one of the fast cars 50' something threw flames from the exhaust with the flip of a switch. Was a thing in the 70's and i guess has come back around like trends do. Likely jetted rich and a sparkplus installed in the exhaust like a o2 sensor lighting the mixture.
Cleansed by the Blood Haha I have seen the movie-not when it was new-but I’m not THAT young lol. Everyone tells my wife that she looks like Olivia Newton John, so i am quite familiar with the film. I’ve been around cars and car shows since I was a young kid, so i have seen a number of old “lead sleds” with flame throwers-and yes often with spark plugs in the tail pipes! I feel like the trend these days is the result of a desire to be in that super/hyper car company. It’s nothing for a mid-engine car to shoot a flame because of the short length of the exhaust pipes. To replicate-tune with a fuel dump... But yes, I see it as a trend-I just don’t see it going away anytime soon.
I was thinking about getting a q50 3.7, but have heard good and bad things on the 3.0tt. In terms of reliability as a daily which do you think would be the better choice?
Lamar3147 well the 3.7 has proven itself in terms of reliability and longevity. That’s what it’s known for. And it sounds great. The 3.0t hasn’t been around long enough to really know about longevity yet. Everyone knows about the belt issues, which sucks, but honestly it’s not that big of a deal. It’s certainly very capable of big power, but with forced induction, there are other problems to think about in terms of turbos going out etc. it’s a trade off. I think if you go 3.0t go with 2017 or newer. Sorry I didn’t lean one way or another. I’d say if you are staying stock or just doing axleback exhaust-go 3.7. If you want to tune and race etc go with the 3.0t.
One more discussion. Knowing what you know now for tuning with Ecutek and owning this platform, would you go out again if you bought a brand new 2019-20 Q50 if same 3.0 TT for the year 2020 and throw a 110-120 hp AMS/Ecutek Performance tune on it? I have a new 19' Q50S non redsport and now that im used to it and know more about it's power delivery and how it handles, i feel that it definitely needs another 100hp for grin factor. On the other hand i don't want my new car to throw codes, have to go in to the dealership for problem solving glitches with ecu, turbo seals failing at 10k and such. I know when one mods a car then their is room for more issues but the car should be 100% capable and reliable to add another 100-130hp because same motor in production RedSport Infinity. What's your opinion on the subject? My use would just be casual fun and ocassional romp the accelerator so no extreme hard use or drag strip repeated use.
I think I would take it for a tune. A no hassle warranty is nice but there is so much potential in that platform, it’s hard to resist. And there are plenty of guys running tuned with no issues. Unfortunately, we seem to only hear about the problems.
@@SpeedCultureStudios yea agree...over 100 hp and more like 130 torque gained is a good value for $1,500 in the scheme of things plus the app, mapp switching and other tool/features. Your warranty seems to be only affected if the tune can be related to the breakage so likely thats the drivetrain portion of warranty.
Sound good bro👏👏 I want to get mines tuned by those guys to..m35 vq35hr need y pipe replaced first tho and the 💵 lol. great job love the channel, hope to catch you in Charlotte one day👍
I'm not really a fan of the flame map. but it is part of the current Fad

Saw that white supra heading towards Kannapolis, car is sick; keep the videos coming though enjoying the progress on your Q
Thanks for watching man!!

Makes sense, thank you for the advice I'll keep that in mind once i start looking

They do great work!!
Yeah man hope to see you around! Thanks for the support’
I need to find a subaru tuner around here
I think there is a recently opened shop, if I’m not mistaken that may work. I’ll have to dig
I think I was thinking of SDRacing.
www.sdracingllc.com/Default.asp
Let me know when you tune! We can film it!
Hell yeah man
Get that Uprev tune and you’ll be okay
Nah, ecutek is a much more refined tune for performance. Not too concerned about making flames.
