We had a relative move out here to work at Intel, came from back east. The salary was fantastic to them. They were here about 6 months, renting and looking for a house. In the end, they decided that on balance, they were making less than back east after expenses, so quit the valley and moved back.

That's the cost of rent I paid for rent in 2015, when I moved from L.A. to SJ. It was a tiny 2 story open space back house.
