  • Chandu Champion explores the challenge of condensing the dramatic life of Murlikant Petkar, India's first Paralympic gold medalist, into a film narrative. It discusses the selective editing required to focus on his victories while disregarding other aspects of his life, such as his attempts at various sports and his personal relationships. The film "Chandu Champion" is critiqued for oscillating between emotional depth and superficiality, particularly in Kartik Aaryan's performance.

Pratyush I appreciate the effort you put into writing and narrating a poetic review but I can't help but feel a need/want to impress (prove something) through pretence. The closest analogy I have is that of a filmmaker having just stepped out of film school needing to prove that he is an intellectual artist.
Maybe that is your style but I sense that beneath the veneer is a critic who perhaps cares a little more about critiquing the art and a little less about making the critique a piece of art itself.

Pratyush I know you are trying- but your effort is so evident it’s hard to focus on your review. I grew up watching Siskel and Ebert and their unassuming and low key interviews. There was no dramatic hand movements, exaggerated facial expressions and ostentatious vocabulary. They reviewed movies and it was like you were eavesdropping a regular conversation between two friends.
I’m not even sure whether you liked, disliked the movie, what you thought of Kartik Aryans performance etc.

I have never seen you liking or loving any movie. Are you saying not a single film maker in this country is capable enough to make a film which suits your pallate.

Thank you for the obvious preparation and effort you put into your review - but it was too wordy, and difficult to sit through. Would love to see a little more of your personality and humanity (and a little less of your verbose intellect) next time. I come to Film Companion's reviews for a like-minded peer's take on a film, not a film-making master-class. The latter may be better suited in an in-depth interview or discussion panel.

Sounds like Shashi Tharoor reviewing a movie. Lot of effort in writing... and usage of poetic and exclusive vocabulary... but totally uncalled for. Audience here is looking for review. Not weight language. If overdone, can be distracting.

@filmcompanion I don't agree with this guy saying cinema only cares if you win. Cinema cares about everything, the protagonist wins or not it's cinema. When you think like that then you create formulas. This guy has no idea what cinema is

If Pratush continues to reviewing movies, he ll ruin the reputation of film companion reviews. Honestly, I lost all the interest in this channel since they started putting Pratush's reviews on their channel. His boring personality reflects on his take on every movie. Please fire him Anu.

You’re reviewing a movie not writing a thesis. Feels very self indulgent and smacks of intellectual narcissism , and more like you’re speaking to an audience of one.. yourself.. or maybe the redoubtable Mrs Chopra, to impress. Don’t try so hard. Movies are stories.. either poorly told and enacted or brilliantly captured and conveyed to the listener/viewer. Your entire posturing takes the total fun out of the exercise .. “ Should I go and see it or not ? “. Stop trying to be too clever. At least when we listen to Ms.Chopra there’s a sense of authenticity in how she talks to us.. You on the other hand talk down . Enough said.
