Thank you guys!!. Great job everyone of your videos it has been really helpful to me. I’m still a beginner trying to lift my foil it’s always good to have your inspiration and support 🤙
Wow, thanks guys. This how to is actually better to understand than your first how to video. Good to explain the degree of where to go withing 90 degrees of wind direction (which was my problem, alsways going downwind). And the tip -- "you have to feel it for yourself". Love both your teaching styles.
Damo and Gwen - you both are amazing. Such clear and useful instruction. With every detail of how to hold the Wing and get in the board ..keeping in mind the wind direction. Thank you so very much.

Outstanding!… and ….thank you for drawing attention to LOCAL shops and their guidance and knowledge of local conditions. It’s SAFETY FIRST here in the Philippines. “Kitakits SA tubig” (see YOU on the water) Mabuhay!!!
I would like to add a suggestion for protective attire for beginners. 1. O’Neill 2mm front zip sleeveless wetsuit. Not too hot but protects the shins from foil. 2. Copperfit compression socks. Can be worn under wetsuit and adds more shin protection from foil. 3. Bodyprox protective knee pads. Slips over wetsuit legs and adds comfort for taxiing on knees. 4. Mystic booties 5. Midwest Max Grip gloves (Lowes, $5.98) because you will grip too hard at first I’m 61 years old and this helped the comfort level.
@@DamienLeroyRUclips Thank you. I never would have figured this stuff out without you guys, but finally up on foil both directions. Jibes and toe-side next. Having a lot of fun.
Thank you for all your videos about wing foiling and happy new year. It helped me a lot. I have now 12 or 13 sessions and I started to fly with confidence on flat water when the wind is strong enough and regular. I agree a lot on the importance of gear for beginners. I am above 170 pounds and I started with a foil of 1600 sq cm for my 4 first sessions. With your video and pratice on beach the Wing manipulation seems easy for an old windsurfer. I was able to stand up to take off but I felt every time. Then I spent holidays in a club. They gave me a 2000 sq cm foil and on the second session I was able to fly several seconds. On the session 5, I have done more that 500 meters in the air. I was definitivly hooked.
It' s mid winter, so no schools or rentals here in the Netherlands, but too stoked not to get started. Bought all my gear, including 5mm neoprene all over my body and just had my second session on the lake. The air is about 8C and the water around 6C and it's wonderful being out doing this. I've been watching every video out there and of course all of your videos. It's been such a great help. I have no experience whatsoever on the water, so yes it's challenging. But boy is this fun! Thanks so much for doing what you guys do. You ROCK!
As always: love these videos. You should do a video on with crashes, and then sit down all four stars: Damien, Gwen, Harry and Kelly to just explain how you crashed, what happened etc.

You inspired me to make my channel! These are the first wing foil videos I saw before I could ever pop-up. Now I am looking for my first sponsor so I can get a new board with straps so I can start boosting.
If you’re over 190 pounds, you need a 6m wing, especially while you’re learning or if you live on a lake. Also, novices should realize that after they become proficient at sailing the board upwind, they don’t have to consciously think about how to steer the board. So one of the most frustrating parts of sailing becomes second nature.
@@josesbox9555 If you're in an area with marginal, gusty winds, and at your weight, a 7m wing would be the most versatile. I weigh 220 and I use an 8m Fone CWC, a 6.5 m Duotone Slick which has a boom, and a 5m Ocean Rodeo. They are all great wings and this covers 95% but if I just had the 6.5m, it would cover 70% of my local wind conditions when wind is greater than 12 knots.
Hi guys. Love your videos. Id like to suggest a video from you. How about video to tell what gear to buy after beginner gear. Beginners buy big board and big foil, but what next? what size of board (yeh, it depends about ur weight) and what size and what type of foil (HA or LA). More aggressive wing or ? etc.. Something what floats you and which front wing give u speed and lift. Cheers!
Love it friend! We are on it.... I would say performance front wings we love! 120HA LIFTFOILS. 1000 or 800HA Cabrinha H series. Boards around 60L. Wing size 5m,4m. Love the idea thank you!
I'm 62 years old in good shape. I have surfed off and on since I was in high school. I ski and snow board. But have no kiting, or wind surfing experience. I would like to try either wing foiling or sup foiling but listening to Gwen he makes it sound so hard that it discourages me at my age. What is the easiest way to learn if you don't have a boat to learn behind. It does sound hard because you have to learn to sail and foil at the same time?? I really do like your videos and have been a subscriber for quite some time. Thank You
Gary 100% I would recommend Wingfoil. SUP foil is a little tricky to learn right off the bat as you are not in control of the swell. Still possible but harder. WINGFOIL you can learn the wing and use it as leverage to get up on a foil and you are in control. Go for it you will love it.. Get yourself a wing maybe do it on your skis to help learn the basics then you can get the foil/board and enjoy it in the water. My thoughts. We have some discounts on gear in our description. :)
Terrific Video!thanks a lot! Great tips! I think of starting to wingfoil (so far i am windfoiling). A 5 Meter (female, 75 kg) Wind is Most of the time around 6-10 knots- or Better 5,5 m? For windfoiling I usually have the 6,7 m sail. Best regards Renate (Greifenstein/Danube)

This is a great package: wingfoilprocenter.com/products/afs-access-wingfoil-pack?_pos=1&_psq=Access&_ss=e&_v=1.0 For you we recommend 7’4 Fly, 1900 foil set, 6m wing
@@DamienLeroyRUclips Thanks, I forgot about that one. I remember watching it back before I started. With my setup, moving the mast all the way back is what finally allowed me to fly the foil in a controlled way as it provided the least amount of lift. Just like you said in the video if the board is jumping up out of control, move the mast back. I think putting the mast all the way back in the tracks is a good starting point for beginners. Place your back foot just ahead of the mast and slowly move both feet back a little at a time until the board gently lifts off. Less lift is easier for learning. That's what you want in the beginning.
Hey guys, I have a question. Is it possible and safer for complete beginner to start wing foiling on the board without the foil and after you progress to attach foil? Love your videos. You rock!!!
I can't find an answer for this one, maybe you have one: What exactly happens when you take like a wing(like a 6.4m) out in high winds way outside it's range? Is it just too hard to hold on to and manipulate so you just go downwind?
Ted, It just will have a ton of drag or force on your arms and will make you very tired unless you have a harness. Not to mention will likely pull you down wind if you are still new to it.
