  • A little bit longer video this time, but my brother and I had a great time hiking the 27.7 mile Lost Creek Wilderness Loop just southwest of Denver and Northwest of Colorado Springs. So Scenic, doesn't feel like Colorado at all! Definitely worth looking at if you want to do a 1-2 night backpacking trip! Hopefully this video shows off a bit of what you would see if you were to do the loop!
    My Backpacking gear for this trip:
    kit.co/kevin_f...
    All of my backpacking gear (or so:)
    kit.co/kevin_f...
    My brother and I sort of fell into the "ultralight" category here for backpacking, or at least were close before camera gear! My base weight was around 10.2 pounds, his was around 10.4 pounds. Overall my pack felt really great for the whole hike! It never really felt heavy, even though I carried probably too much food!

    Monotonous music, mountainous terrain - I remember the big, funny-looking boulders. It sort of made me feel like I was at some ancient mystical site, like Stonehenge, or Machu Picchu.

      There's a couple of formations along the Goose Creek trail that remind me of Easter Island moai (though I think they are actually significantly bigger).

    What time of year did you go? July? What are the biggest things you learned on the trip? What did you do really well and what could you have done better? My wife and I are looking to go backpacking next week for 3-4 days and are trying to decide where to go in CO. We are from OH so its tough to find the "best" place to go. Criteria: 1) not a ton of people/ seclusion, 2) Mountain Views 3) Ideally a Loop trail. Any ideas? Thanks! Great video!

    • @KevinFedde
      @KevinFedde  4 года назад +1

      Thanks! It was a fun one! We went mid-July last year, if I remember correctly. Biggest thing I learned is that i could definitely have gone a lot lighter than what I took, especially for only 2 nights. As far as places that fulfill those criterion, I'm not too sure, since all the "mountain views" places have all the people! There weren't many at the Lost Creek Wilderness and it was a great loop trail, but we did it in less than 48 hours total. I think there are some really nice trails in the Sawatch Range near Buena Vista though, thats where I have been researching/hiking 14ers lately.

    • @AdaptorDieChannel
      @AdaptorDieChannel 4 года назад

      @@KevinFedde Thank you! I have been doing some research on the less well known Gore Range and it seems to be a little bit more promising, keeping my criteria in mind. Do you have any info on that range? Have you ever been there?

    • @cameronfedde1545
      @cameronfedde1545 4 года назад

      @@AdaptorDieChannel The Gore range is definitely less popular than other ranges, just because it doesn't have any 14ers in it. Their loss! Willow Lakes is one of the most popular places to go in the range, so maybe just pencil it in for a day trip. I haven't done any loops there though, but it's a good place to fit your criteria. You could also look into the Flat Top wilderness, less mountain views (it's a large plateau) but much less popular, even in the summer.

    Great video - getting excited for my trip out there, soon. We are going UL this time (usually hike CT in the winter, so the packs are so heavy). What offline trail app did you use? I like the look of it. Thanks for the insight in to what we will most likely see.

      @@KevinFedde Thank you! I have the basic one but should prob upgrade. We are looking to do Twin Eagle - Brookside McCurdy - McCurdy Mountain to McCurdy Mountain - McCurdy Park - Goose Creek - Hankins - BM - Twin Eagle. I've read where the Twin Eagle parking lot is closed for the winter? I mean it is July :) 4 days 3 nights. We are 50K and marathon runners so hoping very doable. Lastly, clockwise - yeah or not?
