great chibi tuorial! and i would rlly like a tutorial on coloring, i feel like i struggle a lot with finishing illustrations beyond the base colors and really simple cell shading
thank you for this video! I've been struggling with my chibi style these days because a lot of chibi tutorials always go, "Do this! Not this!" (which tbf is always typical with every tutorial art videos I've found) and it becomes discouraging when a lot of artists have various different styles that works for them, so your take has been refreshing.
@@ihrnoir yeah pretty much! It’s like a 3d based model that appears 2d or an advanced 2d model that can move more like a 3d one. It seems it really depends on who you ask but I believe it’s the first one more so
i never really care much about drawing in a chibi style but i was doing some doodles during this video and actually managed to learn my own chibi artstyle within the 12 minutes didnt think this video would be able to help me so much
This is my first video of yours, and the way that your break everything down is so easy to understand! It actually got me invigorated to work on a drawing in the middle of an art block. Your avatar is very cute too. Plus, your tone of voice is very approachable and puts the viewer at ease.
Great video. I don't know why but I have a really hard time doing chibis. I can draw semi-realistic-ish or cartoony people. But chibis are so simplified that I don't know where to put the features, they either look like a ball with legs or very disproportionate normal humans hahaha
It's because of how heavily stylized it is I think. Heavily stylized art is just very hard to get a grasp of at first, but it does get easier the more you do it. Just experiment with it lol, you'll find something that works best for you!
thank you so much for these tutorials! The way you explain and demonstrate important points, for example the cheekbone/eye socket/brow bone at perspective, and the 3 point perspective with the boxes video... It has made things SO much clearer and easier to understand what is important and why. back to drawing boxes, thank you again 🙏
I really love how you teach :) it’s very freeing and refreshing. I would love that coloring video from you!! Thank you for inspiring me out of an art block.
-Keep track of the head/body ratio, using the head as the starting point. Chibis are usually 2-3 heads -Crotch is usually halfway down the body. Elbow is halfway between head and crotch. Can play with these proportion. -Play with head width relative to the body -Play with eye size, distance between them, the level of detail to them.
Drawing chibis is like creating tiny, adorable superheroes with big heads and even bigger personalities. It's like a treasure hunt where the X marks your unique, quirky art magic!. Thank you for the awesome tips on drawing chibis and finding my style! Now, my sketchbook is filled with tiny, big-headed cuties and a whole lot of artistic personality. You rock!
Join her streams, they’re fun! I pretty sure she’s a middle age Chinese woman but now I like to think of her as an 8 bit, purple haired, egg loving sleepyhead lmao
I just want to say that I love your videos sooo much. You're so funny and I love listening to your takes. I've been drawing all my life but your videos are so educational yet fun. I went on a Hiatus for a little while and they are a fantastic refresher for certain things. 💜
Great tutorial! Highly enjoyable, 100/10! I really enjoyed your humor, and how approachable your explanations are. :) have a nice weekend! (the ending if this vid killed me, in the best way)
very useful tutorial, definitely gonna a pick up a few tips from here. I however, really struggle with anatomy, I have practiced it sooooooo much (by that I mean maybe like 8 years+) But still struggle with things such as dynamic posing and foreshortening. I just cant seem to imagine the shapes stuff ;-; I feel like a dummy haha
I also have this mindset but trust mee learning anatomy helps you understand proportions better. I suggest learning art fundamentals first like 3d shapes n stuff before diving into anatomy..or you could just do the second option, I recommend picking out a reference and trace it first, then try copying the reference to your best abilities! I also recommend watching some RUclips tutorials first
you don't have to learn anatomy to start drawing! Just have fun but there's gonna be a time where you might start practicing anatomy and trust me it helps alott
thank you! i’m not necessarily looking to do a chibi style, but i want to develop a second simpler style i can utilize as well. i’ve been considering making a webcomic but my style is way too high maintenance for me to realistically keep it up or finish anything. i hope i can get some use in how to find a style that is a bit more minimalist, something i struggle with. playing around with a chibi art style might help me figure out some of the basics :)
This was alot more helpful than the usual "idk just get in the vibe and draw alot" tutorials I see. Like that's fine, but I like to draw with purpose and I'd anatomy lol.
I follow you on Twitter and I love your art and this is my first time seeing any of your videos and I'm just now realizing you aren't some random forty year old southeast asian dude
I hated drawing Chibi's up until this point, they always looked SO ugly, this is the first time I've sketched a Chibi I actutally like! Legit thank you so much for this tutorial, it was absolutely great!! :)
I never got art classes but drew anime characters (badly) since childhood and never get the proportion right, now I cannot even draw bodies.. I am so bad at it. But how you explained the proportion it is so helpful thank you so much...........Especially hand and so... I am feeling sad I cannot improve even with so many tutorials. But at least I am glas I can do it a bit. I will use this video as itis very simple and straightforward, thank you so much!
Great video! Learned a lot and will definitely be referencing this video as I try to draw this style. I don’t know yet what your other videos consist of but if you haven’t yet, maybe show how boys may be drawn, as far as eyes, hair, etc. Most of the characters I want to draw are guys and I want to draw them to look cute but not toddler-ish. Also, need help on rendering the drawing. How to pick skin colors, the highlights and shadows colors too.
My chibis are basically a ball of a head, a slightly thin mountain of a body and two circles of hands, WITHOUT LIMBS OBVIOUSLY. Btw good video ❤ (srry if I write something wrong, it’s because I’m Dominican i guess)
great chibi tuorial! and i would rlly like a tutorial on coloring, i feel like i struggle a lot with finishing illustrations beyond the base colors and really simple cell shading

What a cool vtuber model, never seen a 2.5d pixel model before. Woah. 😮
I was thinking the same thing
Wait, 2.5D exists? Is it something between 2D and 3D? I've never seen it before 😭

The editing is top tier 😂 and so is your model!! I love the pixelated video game vibe!

Love the video! 12.20 minutes of talking about Head, things you can play with, and loose things. You're the best!

I just think of in training level digimon going from blobs to orbs with features to slightly more complex and go from there

I'd LOVE to see a video about how you do the rendering
go to her twitch
I really love how you teach :)
it’s very freeing and refreshing. I would love that coloring video from you!!
Thank you for inspiring me out of an art block.
Your explanation is one of the easiest to understand. Like omg. Where have you been in my life. Thank you oh so very much.
saying toddler then flashing tyler is diabolical
