perfect for a lot of use cases, specifically - event video where you have to conduct short interviews throughout a venue (trade shows, conventions) and you have all of your gear in a backpack

The COB lights aren't any less "soft", it's the surface area - you can bounce the COB light off a white wall and it will be incredibly soft. As a general rule, if you can put the light very close (i.e. 30 to 50cm away), you can get away with a 40x40cm or 60x60cm surface area. For medium distances (75 to 100cm), you will benefit from 80x80cm or larger. For 1.5m from the subject you really would do best with a 120x120cm light surface area (you can attach a soft box to a panel light too to achieve this surface area).
So in this case, the FlexLight Pro are 33x6cm, a little on the smaller side for true soft lighting, but you can get away with it if you can get them close enough to the face, sure - which their flexibility allows you to do, this is fantastic. The panel light being 26x19cm is not enough for a key light in my opinion, but fine for a rim, hair or possibly even fill light as you're only lighting a small part of the face.
Very enticing option for travel or when there are space constraints. I'm currently using the also quite portable Godox ML60 with a 60cm soft box.
