I rarely see them anymore, but every time I went to a McDonald's when I was younger, there was always a spinny coin thing for charity. They were so fun to watch as a kid.
We had those coin spinners at my local McDonald's when i was a kid!! They were like a tip jar for charity, it was a favourite of the kids, entertained us for hours and only cost a few pennies from parents.
I remember the Walmart in my hometown had a really big one. It was a coin funnel in the top but the bottom had like random slides and stuff so it was fun to see where your coins ended up. It also had slots in the sides to stick bills into but thats not as fun
I grew up with these whenever me and my parents visited the mall. It was a big one and you can put up to 4 coins at the same time and watch them whirlpool down.
Not a double pendulum; the chaos is induced by having the second hand unbalanced, whereas in the one you showed, the second hand IS balanced, so it doesn't react any differently than a single pendulum.
Classification aside, I used to own that exact spinner. Only one I ever had and it seemed great, spins smoothly and is one-handed. eventually the bearings slipped or something but it was good for a while
They really should bring those coin donation things back. I remember as a kid I always loved throwing some coins in them and watching them spin around.
Fun fact the "chaotic spinner pendilum" isnt actually chaotic but follows a path that takes an absurdly long time to become obvious it follows a path as at the start it seems chaotic but then begins repeating
The coin spinners used to be in pretty much every grocery store. They were about the size of a large trashcan and were collected by a charity. I forget which but yeah, they were science museum toys, they were everyday fixtures in grocery entrances.
the coin spiral was in every main shopping complex when i was a kid and was a fun way for kids and even adults to watch there money vanish, 2p coins was the best
the coin spinners used to be at every restaurant and department store in the 80s and early 90s, but were much bigger. They were donation machines. You would put a penny in one and watch it spin until almost horizontal before going into the large trap below. As a kid, this was a physics feat that few people had the will power to pass up, and cost of entry was as low as a penny.
In Canada, we had those coin spinny things at Dairy Queen and I always wanted to donate money just so I could watch the coins spin around and around. That is how you get people to donate, you make it fun!
The coin spinner is a popular charity collection receptacle in the UK, and it encourages kids to donate money, by getting them excited to watch the coins spin and drop. It was a very savvy business move!

Number two is literally a steampunk fidget spinner.
I thought the same
yeah its not even chaotic
It would still make fine addition to my collection
The coin one is my favorite. That looks awesome how the coins spiral on their way down to be saved
First one was so cool. That would be a great thing to use in a movie for tension/character building, foreshadowing, or Sherlock Holmsing
The cup and plate are genius.
The top one is so nostalgic. My grandfather had one at his house and i always thought it was pretty cool.
The spinner is perfect for italians to play with while shouting 😂

I liked the horse best, I've never seen something like that before.
The horse galloping cup and plate one was my favourite
All fun in game with the plate and cup until you lose one of them 💀
Or until you watch it so much that the glaze between them wears out and gets grippy.
I didn’t realise that they had the spiny coin thingys at science museums I just thought they where in front of a Woolworths here and there
I found that cup in a thrift store, and totally thought it was just a pretty cup. I had no idea it was really cool

My local D.Q had something like that third one, it was used to collect money for charity
I've had that same horizontal top for about 30 years, but my favorite thing here has to be the horse plate and mug!
My ADHD brain needs #2
Just buy a fidget spinner lol
Imagine if the rolley is the S magnet and the base N. Then they would repel instead of attracting. Plus it isn't the connected tip of the rolley.

The cup and saucer! Pretty darn cool!
Pendulum Fidget Spinner
I like scientific gadgets/useful things like these!! 🔬🧪
All schools need these. Fun & educational.

Discovery Channel Store gifts from late 90s early 00s vibes 🖤
The fourth one used to be in every big irish shop like Lidl or Tesco as a donation thing but was discontinued or just made really rare
They did. They have a charity box at my Walmart and they had four different ways to insert the coins. It was amazing
These are all toys that were cool in the late 90’s early 2000’s. My grandfather had the floating spinner and we had the vortex bank as kids.
